  2. Where are the young people at all our meetings? This tells you how things are changing. Even if they fish, they catch and release instead of preparing the fish for dinner.
  3. No rivets! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Move on and out of New York State. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. It is the grease you use. I have been lucky for years using the blue high temperature disc brake grease. Years of use and changed only when the wheels would not spin quietly when jacked up. I never add grease through a Zerc fitting.
  6. You may register a boat as untitled such as for an abandoned boat. You may receive a title after a year passes when no one claims it. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Numbers change every minute. Use your graph and search them out. West of Evangola in depths of 62 to72 foot work lately but cold nights can bring the perch in closer now. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Heat problems occur when bearings are "over greased".
  9. Locally available is a Lowrance 5 inch sonar 200 kHz, down imaging 455 kHz, and chart plotter for $349.99 +tax.

  11. Put on the ez steer arms some foam tubing to keep it from sinking when it comes apart and you drop it. Saves you over a hundred bucks. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

    Dipsey Divers

Always set the "clicker" on when letting out a dipsey diver. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Fuses should be located close to the battery terminal supplying the down rigger. Adding the downrigger load to other circuits is asking for trouble. Shorter leads have less voltage drop.Maybe a lot of spaghetti added to your boat is not esthetic but is better.
  15. For safety of your fishfinder and the ability to start your engine the fishfinder shuts off automatically when the available voltage falls to about ten volts. Many boats do not have a battery charger that maintains the battery at peak voltage when the boat is stored but the owners depend on the main engine charging system to maintain the battery. Running the bilge pump, night lights, radio transmissions, downriggers and rock and roll music will kill your battery especially when the engine is idling while trolling.

  17. Garmin has sharp images. Consider Chirp technology, down imaging and side imaging along with the need for them. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Worm harnesses should be trolled 1.4 to 1.9 MPH speeds. Stickbaits like Renoskys work best at 2.1 to 2.5 MPH trolled. Do not mix them up for best performance.
  19. Livewells do not preserve fish for consumption. Pouring 72 degree water from the lakes surface just cooks and kills the fish. If you are going to eat the fish, place them in a cooler with a lot of ice after you remove the gills and entrails.

  21. Snelled hooks Palomar knotted to braid with the bottom hook about two inches from the sinker so the minnow lays on the mud. Half the perch caught caught from the bottom hook. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. I have a couple good reports of limit perch catches coming form 65 to 75 foot depths off the Cattaraugus Creek to Evangola area. I am still eating perch from last year so I am not out for them lately.

    Fishing report

We fished from the PA line to 70 foot west of Sturgeon Point. Huge hooks everywhere on the screen. Our three twenty nine inch Walleyes only put us in 65 th place. Lots of large fish out there. Riggers, dipseys and lead core off boards all worked with harnesses and stick baits like Renoskys and Reefrunners. Speeds from 1.5 to 2.3 mph are good. This is the year for big fish. 24. The Con Club winner was Dan Sobczak with a 10.92 walleye on Friday in 115 foot of water west of Barcelona. It hit on a dipsey rig with a worm harness set back 170 foot on a #3 settting trolling 2.3 MPH. The Jim Dolly team took the total weight for nine fish entered over three days. They weighed in 72.67 pounds total. Jim Dolly owns 3D worm harness and Challenger stick Baits.
