If you really want to get lost, just call Lowrance for service. They have an operator called "Peggy" who can steer you to tears.

For your radio operation, in order to get full power for transmitting, use 10 gauge wire. With a fuse at the positive terminal, run the wire direct to the radio.

The system is trying to have you travel over the bridges, pay a toll, launch fees, meals, lodging, etc. if you want to fish Canadian waters, or just leave your fish you stocked to the Canadians. Thank you.

The Canadians who buy American non residents licenses are mainly here for the Early Bass season we have on Lake Erie. They come over the bridges and are checked there. Soon they will open up a trophy bass season and will not have to buy a New York licnse any more. They do not have the standard of living we have to buy New York non resident licenses mainly.

Unscrew the vent on the tank fill cap. I left mine closed and it sucked the plastic tank to near collapse.

Honda 9.9 running rough, not starting with the key start. Paid the inter net mechanic for advice and he said to check the neutrel start switch. I took the control box apart and decided I was not capable of servicing the neutral switch with all the wires and stuff in there. Honda dealer replaced the whole control box because I screwed it up putting it back together. The carb was drained and it was refilled with fresh gasoline. $639 lesson.

Yesterday the perch were hard to find but we came in with 16 12 to 14 inch perch in 52 foot of water next to the 40 foot dropoff by Hanford Bay. The other boat with us came in with 20 large ones. The emeralds are starting to be hard to come by in the river now. One boat on channel 68 reported finding good numbers of small perch out at 65 foot off Silver Creek.

We hit over 100 perch the other day in 53 foot of water off Lotus Point. A lot of boats fish slightly west of the creek. Look for boats pulling in perch, a good sign or use your graph on bottom lock 4X zoom to see fish in the bottom 5 foot of water. If you are catching gobies, go out to deeper water.

Canada has your number and more. Stop at the bridge and if you had a DWI arrest, you will be turned back quicker than a blink of an eye.

This not the way it happens all the time but a good view of what the perch population is in Lake Erie. The mesh size targets the smaller "good eaters" and passes up on the larger breeders. The American waters are not touched also. The amount of perch taken is limited by a bi national committee and the perch harvest has continued successfully for over a century.
-
The Canadian commercial perch fishery targets 8 inch to 10 inch perch. They cull the numbers down so as the survivors have the forage to grow faster. Compare them to Chautauqua Lake perch where a 5 year old perch is 10 inches and a Lake Erie perch is 12 inches, nearly twice the weight. The perch also have adapted to eating the mussels, I noticed a lot of perch regugitating mussels and the shells. The shells are crushed into shards and if you look on the beaches you will see a lot of crushed mussel shells, not too many whole unbroken shells.

The laws in Canada are like Nascar, they are written in sand. A Canadian officer said at a club meeting "You can not anchor on the beach areas where you may walk ashore". Apparently the sand has moved offshore and now things have changed. It is best to deal with it and next year when the non resident fishing license sales take a dump, things may change.

Perch are still coming on strong, they are more numerous and larger than any time in my lifetime. One group came in with 400 perch a week ago. 1/3 were over 12 inches long with 4 fifteen inch perch. Yesterday 3 fellows landed over 100 with one guy reporting 18 double headers in 53 foot of water off Lotus Point. Get your emerald shiners now when you can.

Control board to lower lake levels 6/22 - Lake Ontario and St., Lawrence River waterfront property owners and recreational boaters should expect "quite a dramatic" rate of drop in water levels during the next two months or so, according to the international board that regulates water flows. In a teleconference Monday, Frank Sciremammano Jr., a member of the International St. Lawrence River Board of Control, said the board is maximizing discharge at the Robert H. Moses-Saunders Power Dam in Massena to bring the lake's rather high water levels down to its long-term average. "We are well above average for this time of the year. The lake's water levels are about 19 inches higher than it was last year at this time," Mr. Sciremammano said. As of Thursday, water levels on Lake Ontario were at 247.18 feet — 11 inches above average and close to its upper limit for monthly mean levels of 247.3 feet. While high water benefits recreational boaters, the Board of Control has received a number of complaints from upper St. Lawrence River residents of erosion and dock damage, said David M. Fay, a regulation representative of the Board of Control. Cargo ships traveling the St. Lawrence Seaway have been told to slow down in certain sections of the shipping channel to reduce wake, he said. In response, the board announced earlier this month that it will discharge 310,000 cubic feet per second — the most it is allowed to release under a water-regulation plan — until the level of Lake Ontario falls to 247.1 feet, so long as levels downstream are below the flood alert level. In contrast to the below-average water levels last spring, Mr. Sciremammano said, water levels on Lake Ontario began to rise in March and the increase "accelerated" through April and May because of heavy rains and increased supply from Lake Erie, its primary source of water. Water levels on the lake seem to have peaked earlier this month, and with the increased outflow, the board is hoping to get the water levels down to the long-term average by late August or early September under "normal weather conditions," he said. Yesterday I picked up a 10.38, 29 3/4 inch walleye off Evangola after three days of of drowning worms. Blue and silver hatchet blade on three colors of leadcore on an inline planer, 53 foot of water. The NE winds and cold spring have conditions about two weeks late this year. After the sun gets up high, things got even slower.
