  1. I will be out there, talk to you Saturday Brett. Hey tandm I have a 23 Sea Ray with a brown top
  2. way to go blueghost1, so much for that putz telling you "get off my lake " a couple weeks ago you really showed them nice job on the first place bow
  3. tcon Tom and I started early by 5:45 setting up just past the drop off, working north along the west shore. Rapala GFR on 3 color core clipped to an inline, 2 riggers running at 20' and 30' with small spoons and sliders. Just as the slider was set up on rigger #1 we popped a small brown on the slider over 130'. 200' of copper was down the chute with a mtn spin dr and hammer fly, while we changed colors of spoons a NK 28 black and mtn dew fire off rigger #2 but the slider hooked the copper line and gave the fishy a slack line. In came the copper to get it out the way since the spoons were firing on riggers at the ball and on sliders, temp at 35' was 48, speed at the ball 2.4-2.8. Best fish came off Rapala GFR on the 3 color, rainbow around 4lbs. 1 laker, 1 brown, 4 rainbows and one dropped fish that got into the copper. The bows were skippers but good to see the numbers. The 3 color took 2 fish, riggers with small spoons took the rest. Back at the dock by 10:45.
  4. fished from 1:00 to 3:45 set up with 2 riggers spoons 45'-50' leads with sliders. orange stinger took a shaker bow down 30' over 140' in the south end wire rod and copper were silent. kind of a blank screen everywhere I looked in the south near the drop off north to the white rock. floated and tossed a little cleo for an hour enjoying the sun too.
  5. we went for an afternoon trip, full moon friday night can push feeding to late night so when you fish AM it can be slow. PM was slow too, for what it's worth just one shaker bow
  6. Hi guys, wow lots of boats for sale this year chit, chat, blog
  7. I think your sonar works fine, I have had the same thoughts about my unit except when I actually drive over some fish. Also George has a good point in regards to finding the fish and staying with them. I have had days when the fish are stacked up from Seneca Point to Black Point then the next week hit the same waypoints and poof, gone. I will be out all weekend.
  8. the bait shop on city pier Canandaigua had a sign up last week( sawbellies in ) I am not sure what time they open though. IMHO, you will want to keep them in a good size cooler with a bubbler, or their survival rate goes way down. If you use a 5 gallon pail they swim into the wall of the pail too much and will die. Just my opinion.
  9. Hey Tom at least you got some sun!
  10. Since the weather forecast was incorrect, we had a nice afternoon trip on Sunday. Hit the Brown Hound for late breakfast then got down to the boat and fished from 1:00 - 5:00. I was running 3 color leadcore off an inline with the Rapala GFR, riggers set up with Spin Drs and flies, spoons and stickbaits were all tried from 15-40', the wire rod was silent unless you count the time my wife was driving and talking on the phone at the same time and ran right up into the drop off, the dipsy was bumping the bottom along with 2 cannonballs. All was well and we got turned around and didn't lose anything. It was a super nice day on the lake, surface temps ranged from 51-56, some marks at 40' down over varied depths.
  11. thanks chowder, very good description
  12. Just a warning I tightened down ( really cranked down) one my Angler's Pal holders and stripped the screw or the outer thumb nut, I hope I can find a replacement.
  13. Do you have the Fishhawk owners manual? You can download it as a PDF from the Fishhawk website, google fishhawk electronics, there are some specific troubleshooting tips and adjustments to gain that can be made in order to "settle down" the readings. Attempt to run it on the rigger that is on the same side as the triducer, if you have say 4 riggers try it on out and down rigger not rigger off the back of the boat ( due to cone angle), also if you are running it shallow 5-25 ' down cone angle of triducer may not be picking up echos, weight of cannonball can be factor too, 12-15 lb ball at least.
  14. I know some guys like the white zoom flukes and a 3/4 oz.- 1 oz. white jig head. If you can see them on your sonar streaking and looking you are doing something right but the temp on the top is still warming. Give it a little more time, also you could put some scent on your jig and tube. When I have jigged for lakers, I let it go to the bottom and reel up a couple feet then jig, then reel pause, reel, pause back up to the boat. Don't be surprised if they follow it all the way to the surface. Also you could shorten the tube or add a stinger hook if the tube is trailing your jig too much. Have fun.
  15. http://www.democratandchronicle.com/art ... 90364/1013 I was picking some some take out, while waiting I thumbed through the paper to see the nice write up about everyone's favorite website. Special thanks to Rick, Billy, and the Mods. for their efforts utilizing technology and the rest of the people here for sharing. PS Is that the Rebel pictured in the article?
  16. anchor for sale one river type $15 PM to contact, thanks
  17. Great photo story cruz, sounds like a fun time
  18. I have 2001 vintage Lowrance and sometimes I think it doesn't work until I drive over some fish and then they show up. Interesting to have side by side comparison with the Furuno though showing you 3 times as many echos. It kind of makes wonder what I am missing. Good luck and have fun.
  19. tcon and his boy Dustin met me Sunday 5/2 for some fishing out of the south end. We ran an array of shallow riggers with long leads mixing spoons and stickbaits along with sticks behind inline planers. I did find 53 degree water on the east side along Sunnyside Rd. just a bit north of the drop off. We worked the eastside north troll, and the water just kept getting colder. Worked out deeper crossing over to the westside, then trolled back south to drop off. We had fun playing with Tom's new wire set ups, Daiwa Accudepth 47 LC with 8' rods. Nice rod length for the wires but we couldn't get a bite. Monday 5/3 cheslers and his buddy Darren met me. Cheslers is new to the board and to trolling so I was going to give him some advice and show him how I set things up. WE worked the same areas as the day before in the south end from 7:30-9:00 and then hit the gas dock when they opened. The showers ended by the time we refueled and headed to the north end, stopping along the way and hunting around a bit. I could not find any fish. We set up south of Menteth Point, and trolled north past German Bros. and worked up to the Pumphouse and circled back to troll along the shallower water near German Bros. One mark around 50' down was all I ever saw besides some bait pods around 100' back down in the south end. The weather was nice for a boat ride though, and since it was so quiet Darren got a good nap in for awhile. Chesler did say he had fun learning some things, hopefully next time he gets to reel in a fish. Monday we ran the copper out about 250' with a spin dr and hammer fly, stickbait off the planer, and mixed the riggers with spoons, sticks, and flashers from 10'-50'.
  20. wow that baby looks huge, gotta love the Spin Dr attractor
  21. Yea you should find the same tactics work well in Canandaigua, I know cndga troller fishes Seneca, Keuka, and Canandaigua and he is successful on each of the lakes. Maybe we'll see you down there this weekend.
  22. Hey Huntin Trout, are you my new neighbor on B dock? I am the Sea Ray with the brown top. Let us know how you do.
  23. Just a quick note: the water was cold, only 46 or so on top. The J 9 Rapala GFR of the inline board took the smallie, I do like to run the GFR out there, the riggers were shallow and silent. We did not mark much at all. The boat issue was she would stop just at trolling speed, after the second time I did not want to take any chances, so we pulled the lines and got her fired back up and ran back to the marina.
  24. I looked some more online and saw the Shakespeare stuff like I have and looks like it's threaded. So hopefully I can drill out the broken piece of nylon on the antenna and secure to an new mount preferably stainless steel.
  25. drugstores, wegman's, tops, they all should have it, it won't make you as drowsy Dramamine
