  1. South end @Jansen Marine North End ?? Seagar Marine?
  2. Check connection on back of pod. the circuit board and wiring can be subject to shock and stress when under power in waves. That is what happened to mine. However I had bracket mounted to rigid aluminum bar which made shock and stress worse. Make sure your bracket has those rubber washers between pod and bracket for shock absorption. Try testing in bucket of water in driveway by lowering probe into water checking temp and connections
  3. Since Onanda is out you should try south end and paddle west shore at least to first point, Cook's Point I think, if you a have a depth finder and gps you should be to find fish. I would pull orange stickbaits like Rapala GFR J 7 or J 11 on planer boards so you don't get lines tangled. Try stickbaits or spoons and use flouro leader with dark colored snap swivels. You should be able to get into browns rainbows or lakers all cruising shallows right now. Shallows adjacent to deeper water areas.
  4. Hey there you may want to try Onanda park on West Lake Rd. aka Co. Rd 16 the boat launch has aramp that is open in winter but you may be able to slip your kayak in there. There is also a fishing pier or dock that you can cast a 3/4 oz K O Wobbler out and have it fall into about 60' deep area. The drop off is very close to shore near there. Remember many fish are in close right now and will be there for longer than you may think. Certainly longer than I ever thought they would be there. The Pumphouse is WEST SIDE just north of German Bros Marina. It is large red building .
  5. Okay guys, if you wanna launch your kayak, just go to small craft area in north end between the outlet and the public beach, you can launch a car top boat or kayak there free of charge, but by June you won't find many fish up there except panfish. The launch at Woodville can accomodate trailerable boats at the ramp and also has a good spot to launch a kayak and is free also. However parking lot fills quickly on derby day, or if there is a bass tourney going on any weekend. Best advice is to arrive early for parking spot on derby day at either launch. Last year's winner came from North end, but usually winner is from South end. I don't want to give away any secrets but I am surprised how many large fish can be caught near shore in early June. fireplug you have pm
  6. saw a neat idea back a few issues in glangler, write your name, phone # and boat name on your planer boards then the guy who picks up your board can call you and also may feel a little less likely to take your flotsam and jetsam if your name is on it. just a thought...
  7. We did not get out early but fishing by 7:30 we took two browns in 15 minutes One 7 lb off J 11 Rapala gold flo orange and one 2 lb that went back in after removing the Thunderstick Jr red black squiggle running inline planerboards 100' leads with 15 lb green line and 60' leads with 10 lb flourocarbon surface temp 46-48
  8. My wife and 9 month old dog came out for his first time on the lake with me today. Ran boards with Rapala J 11 gold flo orange, and picked up one laker on it 14 fow very nice weight for a board caught fish no rigger bite best bait was above surface temp where fish hit was 46, temp ranged from 41 on surface over 80' as well as 41 surface to 30' down. Beautiful day to be out for sure
  9. Thanks for the insight hermit, I guess I'll send the wife over there with her kayak since it should be a nice paddle for her amidst the tree lined shores vs. the McMansioned shores of Canandaigua.
  10. Nice fish there sharkbait, I believe there is a gas motor horsepower limit on Canadice and Hemlock. Do you just run the kicker? Have you ever seen DEC there looking around? Just wondering cuz I may have to drag my little boat over there but I have a 25 HP and a 6 HP kicker, do you think it would be ok??
  11. Stop payment on the balance due and find another taxidermist who will do what you want, it's your hard earned money let alone your trophy. FWIW, I had a 40 " northern pike mounted in MI years ago, and it came out perfect, and the taxidermist even removed all the meat keeping the skin and head intact for the mount and sent me home with 18 lbs of meat to fillet and we had fish fry for 15 people.
  12. susky thank you
  13. There is an auto pilot and some other electronics on Craigslist.org rochester http://rochester.craigslist.org/spo/492104551.html check it out muskybob,
  14. Usually have good catch rate rate here with the riggers, often in combination with the wire dipsy rig too, green flasher and green fly or white flasher and glow squid, some what of a conundrum for me since rarely a spoon bite for me this year while flashers and flies or flashers and squids were hot. One rigger is manual Cannon with probe and one rigger is electric cannon with positive ion control, not sure which rigger catches more fish though, negative charge is phenomenon of aluminum boat's which may have ground issues, you should take a reading off of rigger cable while trolling with a volt meter and detect charge or lack there of with true reading tool such as voltmeter. You may be surprised what you see,..... speed has more to with the whole scenario of which you speak I am afraid, a down temp and speed unit will pay for itself in one season or less take my word, Finger Lakes all have tremendous undercurrents which few trollers are aware of with out down speed and temp you have no idea what your rigs are doing down there, especially when targeting fish 40' to 100' down.
  15. You can find more finger lakes reports at sandersfishinguides.com, seems to be a bit more active than the FLX Discussion on the LOU.com, check it out
  16. Find the bait and you will find the smallies, I have caught many smallies trolling for trout with spin doctors and flies and mag monkey puke spoons. The smallies are in the bait pods too just like the trout. So depending on where your buddy's boat is look for the points and drop offs andd start there. good luck
  17. Cool guys let's try to get together, I'll pm you when I can go....
  18. Well my wife keeps asking me "why do you need a bigger boat"? I guess, I am set up pretty well, sometimes I think it's just a matter of having 2 riggers and 2 wires out there working and bringing the fish into the spread. I do run 1 manual rigger with sub troll and one mag 10 with positive ion control, and if I have 3 people on board I run in line boards with sticks and snap weights, usually get bow or brown off those rigs. Next I would like a mast system and big boards since I do lose a few on the inline boards due to amount of line out and inevitable slack when those bows run towards the boat or jump 3 or 4 times. Maybe luv2fish and LTtroller can both come out on the FLXTroutman so I can get the "super spread" going, also I never put the boat away, I like to fish when it's snowing, windy, calm, sunny, I have yet to launch at Onanda in the dead of winter but I am going to try this year if we have another lackluster snowfall like the last couple years.
  19. Hey LTroller, we should hook up sometime, especially if your boat is bigger than mine! Some of the posts on Sander's fishing guide has had better reports from the south end
  20. Um I am not sure why I even bother to trout fish in September, hit the north end Sunday and Monday, not even a touch Sunday. However Monday ran spoons and wire dipsies, then switched to 11" flashers with A Tom Mik flies and had 3 releases but could not keep the fish hooked. Hits were on the bottom west side north of German Bros. in about 80 FOW or so. Temp at bottom was 49*, can't wait for October and November cuz I am ready to put September away for another year.
  21. I fished out of Seattle, Puget Sound, Tulalip Bubble ( Rez. Hatchery), native kings were endangered species, no take fishery, in Sound, however the Tulalip Bubble supported kings which were cookie cutter teenagers 15-18 lbs. My research found spawning migrations vary by species with 4-7 year lifecycles for ocean fish. However some ocean going chinook salmon will live for 9 years before spawning which accounts for the 100 lb. fish. Pinks have the shortest life cycle by comparison at 2 years spawning in odd numbered years
  22. Way to go fireplug, I guess you won't be too excited about little lakers in Canandaigua Lake anymore, those kings really make fishing fun, now you get to fix the boat, buy more tackle, buy more reels and rods, oh yeah now the fun begins,
  23. To Off Track's last comment I think I need to beckon the Niagara Pro Am radio call of " THAT'S RIGHT!" Any one know who that was? I think the two main rules to remember are all fishermen on board a boat must be in the derby and you cannot fish alone. Also King Me aka Steve Drave posted a list of do's and don'ts before prior derbies pre site crash and I believe one of the don'ts was "Don't pass a pole off due to greater chance of losing the fish." Slack line is a no no. Just think of the $20,000 check and your arms won't be sore for long.
  24. Todd thanks for coming out, reeling in that double would have been tough solo. Ran the usual suspects this morning after running to my favorite spot. 8" Pro Chip white/chrome/crush glow with A TOM IK mirage and "Snoopy" Revelator with Hammer on the wires out 160', 180', 200' on 3 settings. Riggers were tried at 50', 60' 75', 85', 95' and only had one hit, nobody home, I know that the fish are streaking up to look at the shark and the rigger spread but were negative to the presentations. Both riggers had 11" blades with glow squids I even ran a set of stinger yellow tails with a slider, then switched to the mag purple "SKEINER" spoon that's his avatar off the shark rigger but no spoon bite for shark rigger or the other rigger or wire set ups. Very warm humid morning with some light lake fog and exceptionally calm seas.
