hey Todd, you should have seen the last time out during derby we ran towards a bumper to pick it up but it was connected to 150' of rope and a bucket and piece of cement in the shape of the bucket, it hit the probe rigger cable. We managed to get it all in, then some big boat pulled up nearby and yelled throw it back in, we'll get it, what a dork, his boat was called Looney Bin.

We watched you reel in a couple of fish solo in that wind, way to go brett

33 canuck and I began in the north end worked the drop off area to german bros. and then back south to east to dragon wall. We found the dragon wall hump of 23', had 3 riggers plowing the bottom of the lake for zebra mussels and lake grass salad. we did manage to get all the gear up safely even the 7 colors were banging the hump. we talked to cndga troller out there and he was getting more action then we were in the north end but we moved south to pelican point and then worked across to onanda park. we marked lots of fish ran 6 rod spread with 3 riggers, two 7 color cores out on planer boards, and 600' copper down the chute. then we ran 2 wires instead of the leadcore but I didn't check my wire line before deploying first rod and snapped of the black dipsy, spin dr and fly. we did manage one 5 lb laker on the 600' copper pulling the live wire spin dr and kurts special fly out in 220 fow, we had good marks in the middle of the lake at 110' and 120'. I did get a probe rigger bite right as we pulled gear to end the day when I switched sharkie to a black cannonball with a cabelas black spoon 20" laker. We had fun out there, breezy and sunny temp down 120' was 45, at 55 was 51 and surface in middle of lake was 70. fleas are evident on flouro leaders, glad to see cndga troller and chuck527 out there. 6/20 edit I found my camera on the dash of the boat today so here are some pics, my favorite is the the blow boat that came about right in front of us, I would rather he not run behind us and over our gear but it's a a BIG LAKE you IDIOT!

hey skipper19, Dustin and Tom have fished on my boat too, and Dustin is a very nice young man, patient, and knows how to reel in fish, he is always more than welcome aboard, way to go tcon, oh yea great quality pics skipper19, almost 3D looking -
Sunday morning of the Canandaigua Trout Derby tcon Tom his son Dustin and 33canuck and I cruised to Menteth Point and worked south in 110-165 FOW to Onanda Park, we picked up two 5 lb lake trout right off the bat on 350' copper with mag nbk off inline board and 47' rigger with stinger copper puke. Then we had a lull. We changed up alot, had a couple tangles with our 10 rod spread running 4 boards and 2 wires, 3 riggers and 600' copper down the chute. The bite picked up again for us around 11:00 am just as tcon had predicted. 33 canuck had his 600' copper fire down chute, I reeled her in for the guys to show em how it's done. Alas though just another 5 lb lake trout. At that point we were east side out from pelican point in 220 FOW. We trolled into that 120-165 foot zone again picking up a small bow on 7 colors. Spoons nbk, copper puke, glow frog and glow spin dr mirage fly had hits on riggers. 7 lake trout and and 1 bow, all the lake trout were 4-5 lb class. We just got in before the downpour, so we headed to the weigh station and talked to some guys who were weighing the fish. We had some laughs shared a story, I met the waterwolf from sanders board, and got a recipe from an old timer. No boat and fish pics too busy washing my lures, but here is a recipe for bacon wrapped trout. I pinbone and trim the fillets very well, cutting the filets in 1"x6" piece pull the bacon to stretch it so it can wrap the whole piece of filet. I warm the pan to medium heat and cook turning the fish all the way around to cook and crisp the bacon. A little green salad and ranch dressing.

Fished the east and west sides in the north end eastside dragon wall to thendara, 80-125 fow westside rochester point to onanda park, 120-155 fow 33 canuck and I ran 3 riggers, 2 seven color cores off inlines and copper down the chute 7 colors took 7 rainbows, 250' copper took one bow on flasher fly, and riggers 33' -127' took 3 lake trout, we kept 2 lakers, released all bows, biggest was 5lbs, every rainbow from 12" -25" all healthy, 4 out of 8 were keeper length, great day fishing, spoons on riggers and leadcores were best, surface temp was 68 and down speed and temp was 46 at 50' down, 1.9 mph to 2.625 mph at the ball

We went out for some afternoon sun and fun with the family, I picked up a 12 " rainbow on 7 colors with a orange brass cup stinger on an inline planer after about 30 minutes. Had 2 riggers running from 21 and 31 to 48 and 58, tried to stay on a 60-75 foot contour on east side just north of Deep run to dragon wall. Only out for a couple hours but a nice sunny afternoon. surface temp was 51 degrees and 41' down was 49 degrees.

Hey Brett we got a slip at Sutter's this year so a bit closer to home, I rode my bike their with Liam in the trailer last week in 15 minutes. Now I just have to make a "bridge" from the deck to the cuddy cabin, that first step is a doozy for a 1 year old. Chuck we have a life vest good to 30 lbs. it's pretty dang small looking, it does have a nice handle on the top for plucking him out of the cooler. Erabbit, I have just started to run more sticks off the riggers, and I like to have a rainbow planer
-
My wife Bonnie and I took Liam out for his first outing on the boat. I set up a orange and black rapala off an inline board, had a hit in 5 minutes, a toothy pickerel before reaching the drop off, then I ran 2 riggers, at 21 and 31, and wire dipsy out 99'. Trolled around the north end mid lake worked east to the dragon wall into 75 fow. Picked up a nice 18" rainbow 125' back 21' down on my favorite beat up stinger, released, to 52 degree surface water. I had a chance to use new Lowrance transducer hooked up to my old LMS 480 and what a difference, it's the same ducer for the today's HD units and it produced excellent detail, rigger balls displayed well on the 200 kHz side along with arches, and good arches on the 50 kHz side. We did mark lots of fish near the drop off to 70 fow mid lake and east side 65-80 fow.

Leaving boat in storage for the summer- advice?
FLXTroutman replied to Bayrat's topic in This Old Boat
this is a very interesting thread, wide range of advice, making a syphon with a long length of tubing from lowes or depot and removing the fuel is not a difficult prospect, just ask the guy who syphoned my truck gas at the boat launch while I was fishing. -
Depending on your inline board you could rig it to release then slide down to a swivel and a bead. Or reel the board back to the boat with rod tip closer to the water keeping your rod out perpendicular to the gunwale, port or starboard side, think like the position a set dipsy rod is in low to the water

Canandaigua Lake at Sutter's Marina 2" of snow at 8:00 am Monday still snowing at 8:25 am on Main St 3" in my backyard

Canandaigua Lake boat launch at the north end is closed, the Onanda Park access launch ended April 15, so you have to go the the south end. Try your brown program on Canandaigua right near the drop off, as you leave launch area head north until you see the drop off on your sonar. Set planer boards and stickbaits with natural colors
-
good fly leader length is 18"-22" from attractor. Green fly with green spin dr or a mirage fly with white attractor, 5'- 18' off the ball or off your dipsy, maybe speed up too if you are used to pulling seth green rig that is usually trolled slower. How do you have dipsy rod holder rigged on pontoon? If you don't have a sturdy set up you might lose a rod when you pick up the speed. Good luck and see ya out there soon.

@ OLDTEX Post subject: Re: Need some help Finger Lakes guys. PostPosted: Tue Jan 03, 2012 10:32 am Sutton did not have a silver plater for a year or more but as of last week, they DO! Thus, most of their spoons are either in stock or will be soon, according to the owner, whom i spoke with about a week ago. That's GOOD NEWS! (i was getting worried as my stock was dwindling)
