Fair Haven 6-8 SLOW
Finders Keepers replied to bout time's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Sorry, just saw the post this morning. We have done well on a glow wonderbread echip or spin doc followed by a blue glow hammer fly. Seasick waddlers or Stinger Green Penguins have also been top producers in the morning. -

Would love to, but I dedicated this weekend to working around the house before we start hitting the Big O every weekend starting next Saturday. If you're going to be around next Sat, we will be at Screwy Louie's from 1-5pm with our tournament rig answering any questions anyone has on salmon fishing. -

I'd try fishing the deep marks. I'd run spoons in a 28 size, since there have been many reports of 3-4" alewifes in their stomachs. Maybe try a seasick waddlers, black/green glow NK's, black raspberry NK's, ... -
We are currently restructuring the rule set to include two sets of rules/regs: one for the Open Division and one for the Pro-Am Division. This will make it easier for anglers to distinguish which rules apply to each Division. After working out a few more logistics we will be able to announce the 2014 dates for the events - stay tuned!! Also, we still have some awesome apparel items on sale that can be bought at: http://www.nysiceproam.com/Pro-AmStore/Registration-2.html Follow us on Facebook for the latest developments!

I have recently discovered a breeding ground for oak leaf grubs literally in my backyard (around 100 grubs per 4' circumference), most are 1/2" to 1" in size. I am going to be selling them for $3.00/dozen. If interested drop me a PM and how many you would like.

For anyone new to fishing trout and salmon on the Great Lakes or anyone who has questions about running any type of gear or rigging, or anyone who has any questions about setting up a tournament boat or tournament fishing or any other related topic, this is for you!! My brother and I (captains of the Finders Keepers Pro Tournament Sportfishing Team) will be hosting an open forum setting seminar at the Bass Pro Shops in Auburn on June 1st from 10am-5pm. Unlike any other seminar, we take our tournament boat onsite for live demonstrations, visuals, and so all our participants can see first-hand how to: -Run and rig downriggers -Run and set-up leadcore, copper rods, wire rods, etc. -Run planer boards -Store all the gear -Etc. We'll have some Plano boxes to give away along with some decals and some of our older gear we no longer use - out for the taking on a first come basis! So if you're free, stop on out, say hello, and ask away!!

Pre-fishing on Friday we started 4 miles to the west over 100 fow. Right from the start we had a great looking screen with suspended marks and many hugging the bottom. So we ran a spread of 2 riggers set at 90 and 60 ft, 4 wires out 150 to 360 ft, and 2 surface lines. Soon after setting our spread, we tripled up with both riggers and a wire taking shots. First fish to the net was a 12 lb laker that came on the 90 ft rigger pulling an NK black/green glow mag, the second fish to the net was a healthy 14 lb king that hit the 280 ft wire on a 3 setting pulling a wonderbread echip with blue glow Atommik hammer fly, and the third fish was a monster laker that puuled our scales to 21 lbs that came on the 60 ft rigger pulling a Stinger Green Penguin stingray spoon. It was just shy of the LOC board so after a few pics she went back to fight another day. After the quick action we thought we would be in for a banner day, but that wasn't in the cards. The rest of the day we had a slow pick at kings and lakers from the Red Can to east of Wilson, and it appreared as though Sat might be a tough bite. On Saturday the fleet was greeted by stiff westerly winds and we knew we were at a disadvantage being in one of the smaller boats. It took us a while to pound through the waves westward to the spot we tripled up at the day before. When we set down a little west of those waypoints, the screen looked very similar with both suspended and bottom marks, so we set up the same program as the day before. Soon after setting up the 95 ft rigger took a shot pulling a Stinger Green Penguin spoon and we boated a 12 lb laker. Saw a couple other nets fly with small fish, but no decent kings boated, so we decided to go into scout mode. After covering a ton of water, throwing an assortment of gear at them, adjusting speed, depths, etc. We finally found an active pod of fish out deeper over 180-220 fow down deep (110-160 ft) in the last hour of fishing. They wanted small spoons (Stinger UV Tuxedos in the Stinger size) fished super deep and very slow (1.8-2.0 down speed). We boated three kings before we had to pull lines and head in. With the fishing being as tough as it was (and seeing many boats making runs to new spots), we felt pretty good having 3 fish in the box! At the scales we saw that most teams struggled as we expected, and our box put us in 15th place. The banquet and ceremony were top notch - thank you Keven and crew for putting on another fantastic event!! Congrats to those who put more fish in their box to get into the top 10 - a well deserved win for sure!! This was a great way to start the tournament season for us and we look forward to fishing the WHI next year!!

Finders Keepers replied to rustyrat's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Fishing was tough for sure this past weekend! We did figure out a program that produced, a bit too late in the game (last hour) to get into the money for the WHI but put us in 15th place. I'll post our full report later today with all the details after I get the pics from my brother, but here's a brief run-down on what we found to work on Sat: Headed deeper outside the pack and found an area holding suspended fish (50-80 ft and 150-110 ft over 160-200 fow). Dropped the riggers to 148 and 138 with free sliders running all super slim spoons in UV Tuxedo patterns. Ran the wires out to 300 on a 1 setting and 500 on a 3 setting, then dropped our down speed to 1.8-2.0. -
