  1. We saw these blooms last year on Sodus and Port Bays, Sodus being worse. We've already heard of some showing up on Sodus this year, much earlier than last year. Definitely something to keep an eye on if you frequent these waters!
  2. Yeah, that's what we figured. We've planted the seed with them and let them know what we all want to be able to do with the units. It'll happen before too long!
  3. WOW, DUDE !!! I have a country !!! Sweet !!! Oswego and Atommik: two words that are synonymous with each other!
  4. We've been thinking the same thing Nick! How much was the back-pac unit? We asked our rep at GoPro how far down the unit can go in the water and still transmit, and he wasn't sure. They said they were going to test it, but we haven't heard back yet. It will be very cool when this is all hooked up though!!
  5. Yeah, we thought blowback may become a factor - is it significantly more with the video apparatus? What size weights are you using? I'm sure it'll be slightly different on every boat, but it would be good to know what to expect before we start playing. I appreciate the info!
  6. Nice job! Gotta love it when you have 3 rods throbbing at once!! That watermelon spoon wasn't the "Rough Rider" spoon by any chance, was it? We may have to pick a few of those up...
  7. Thanks guys, we appreciate the positive comments! As for the logo, way back when I first started calling myself "Finders Keepers" on this site, I used that image simply because it was cool looking and the name "Finders Keepers" was only tied to me. Last year I changed it per our Pro Team status, and now (it's funny you asked about it) we're actually underway to having a new one created that's more fitting. It'll probably be similar, but with an obvious salmon/trout connection this time.
  8. A agree, very cool video! How far down can you go with a decent image as the light decreases? We're going to try to do the same with our GoPro's...
  9. Nice job fellas!! Good see a lot of fish hanging around!
  10. It has been brought to our attention that there are some rumors circulating that we are falsely portraying our connections with our sponsors and supporting companies as a way of self-promotion. Those of you that know us and those who have attended our seminars and various other events can attest to the fact that we are providing valuable information for other anglers and promoting our amazing fishery. To help set the story straight on our team, or if you might be curious to see how we have gotten to where we are today, I encourage you to read our story here: http://www.fksportfishing.com/FK-Biography.html It's a bit lengthy, but covers a good portion of what has transpired over the past year. Let it be known: we have a significant connection with every company of every logo we display.
  11. Hey Nick, I remember last weekend the fish were mostly out of temp in 60-65 degree water. May want to try a shallow program for a bit. You may be right with the east wind wind too...
  12. Hey Nick, Count us in, we can take 2 on our boat.
  13. Hey Woody, congrats on the 18 years!! Great to see you made it out and got into some majors!! We couldn't keep the majors buttoned on Sat. With all the majors around now, I can't wait to see what it'll be like in August after they gain another 10-15 lbs!!
  14. Good luck! I heard many good reports from the east end today, so I bet you'll do well!
  15. Yeah, I wish I could get out tomorrow, but other commitments are keeping me landbound. Good luck out there and have fun!!
  16. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Finders Keepers ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 6/9 Time on Water: 5:30-11:30 Weather/Temp: little rain, overcast Wind Speed/Direction: light wsw Waves: 1-2's Surface Temp: 64 Location: Sodus LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 25 Total Boated: 21 Species Breakdown: Kings, Steelhead, Lakers Hot Lure: NK28 Spook / wonderbread spin doc with glow hammer fly Trolling Speed: 2.6-2.8 Down Speed: 2.7 Boat Depth: 120-200 Lure Depth: 60-80 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Banner morning out of Sodus today!! Could barley keep the full spread of rods in the water today! Had several doubles and a triple on majors. We were running 2 riggers (60-80 ft), and 4 wires (220, 230, 250, 280), with spoons on the riggers and spin docs/flies on the wires. The following took shots today: Stinger UV Tuxedos in Mag and Stingray sizes, NK28 spooks, green/white board with green dots pulling ultra green glow fly, white with green dots board with ultra green glow fly, nuclear green board with crazy bi*$% fly, and wonderbread board with hammer glow fly. This Steelhead had the hook break off and now it appears to have a nose piercing! Those crazy steelhead... I hope this action stays through the summer!! Next time we'll be out is on Father's day...
  17. Gotta love it when the fish are snappin'!! C'mon Nick, let's see another 38 lb'er landed this week!
  18. Good luck to everyone fishing the Pro-Am this weekend! Wish we could be there - looks like a much better weekend weatherwise than last weekend!! Hopefully the kings will be more plentiful and willing to play too!!
  19. We'll also be out in teh Sodus area on Sat - we'll be on channel 9 on the radio and can let everyone know what we're doing. We'll probably start in the 80-120 fow range and then work out to the horizon as the morning wears on (provided the storms stay away).
  20. Just an FYI for everyone, the NWS is the agency that actually issues the small craft advisories. The problem we're going to face is that the wave/wind forecasts are only updated a couple times per day (if I recall right, I believe they updates the forecast at around 9:30 am, then not again until around 3, then not until 9:45ish that night). So if a small craft advisory is issued, I would suggest the directors contact the NWS in Buffalo to see when the new updates are going to happen, and make that the time(s) for the next decision. The other issue we're facing is the fact that the winds/waves are the hardest parameters to forecast for! So there will be days (seems like many days) that the forecast is going to be off - the meteorologists do not have a crystal ball, only very sophisticated computer models to try to piece together the forecast. We've all seen days on the big pond when there's a west wind around 15 knots and 3-5 footers while another day with west winds at 15 knots there's only a 2-ft chop. The difference is likely that one day there is a constant wind while the other is more variable, but one can't be that accurate in forecasting the winds all the time! It's the nature of the beast! So, did it suck sitting at the dock? You betcha!! But like already stated, I'd rather be a little bummed that we didn't get out then see one of our fellow anglers get in serious trouble out there because the wind picked up.
  21. While I agree that the forecast for Sat was blown (no punn intended ), I also have two degrees in meteorology and can tell you the forecasters are not overeducated, self-indulgent, nor overpaid, and according to the model forecasts there should have been a small craft advisory in place. Now, what I think they should have done differently is what was already stated: check the buoy data and adjust, especially when there was a decreasing trend in the wind/waves all day as recorded by the both the west end and offshore Rochester buoys. I would also suggest for the tournament that during an offshore wind, we either use a latitude line or depth to stay within that the observers could monitor. It really is a shame we couldn't get out on Sat...
  22. Anyone know if the BFF gets cancelled/postponed, how will we know?
