Hey Hank - I hope you had a great day!! Cheers!! -
Yeah, we've got other ambitions we have to work on this fall, otherwise we'd be out there! We're working with several of our sponsors on some initiatives, have to update our website, work on promotions for our December Bass Pro Ice Fishing Seminar and several of the local ice tournaments, get our ice gear conditioned and ready for the upcoming season, fix some of our gear that got pounded this summer, and hitting the perch when they come in the bays, just to name a few.

Cut bait and whole alwifes can sometimes give you an edge (if they're hungry they'll follow the scent), but this time of year I have found the best presentation to be very bright flashy colors to get them to hit out of aggression: Rrred's, chartruese, bright greens, flies with mirage in them, etc. Also, varying your speed can trigger hits as well. Pay attention to the other boats around you - if they are hooking up repeatedly, then you're probably missing something. If no one is boating fish, like this past weekend, then it could just be a tough bite.

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Finders Keepers ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 9/18/11 Time on Water: 5am - 2pm Weather/Temp: Sunny Cool Wind Speed/Direction: light and variable Waves: none Surface Temp: 64 Location: Salmon River LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 3 Total Boated: 1 Species Breakdown: King Hot Lure: None Trolling Speed: 2.2-2.4 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 15 - 90 Lure Depth: sfc - 65 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Got on the water today for our last outting of the year. Hit the water early and were greeted by many splashes in the river. We started right at the river mouth trolling J-plugs and spoons. After 2 hours of changing colors and leads with no hits, and once we were almost forced into the pier by another boat, we decided to slide out a bit and leave the combat trolling arena! On our first swing through the 40 foot zone we had a rip on the 85 ft wire pulling a white/green dot spin doc with hypnotist fly, but after a couple whacks it was gone. We worked the area for another couple hours before our next hit, which came on the 75 ft wire pulling a green scale spin doc with a Jawbreaker sushi fly. It ripped out 300' of cable and burned through its steam, as it came right in to the boat after that: A nice 30 lb female. We then continued to work the area for another hour or so before our 85 ft wire got whaled on, but once again after a couple whacks, it was gone. That one came on a Rrred echip with hypnotist fly. That's all the action we had today. We tried sliding out deeper to see if we could locate anything - baren, only a stray fish here and there. Even the water we were working only had scattered fish, no concentration anywhere. Despite the lack of fish, it was a great day on the water and we did manage one beauty to boot! This season overall was fantastic and one for the books! This was our first year with sponsors and they came through HUGE for us!! We did have many hurdles to overcome with this being our first year running PRO as a team, but we learned a ton, caught a tramendous number of fish, and are looking forward to bigger and better things for next year! Stay tuned through the winter months for our announcement of our seminar series dates at both Bass Pro and the Sodus Point Lodge! Now it's time to put away the salmon gear and start getting the ice gear ready to go! We'll be doing an Ice Fishing Seminar at Bass Pro in early December on how to ice BIG pike and buckets of slob perch! We'll see ya on the hard water!!

Mexico 9/17
Finders Keepers replied to MarkNY's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Yeah, don't feel too bad, we only went 1 for 3 today and also saw a ton of fish surfacing and jumping - all hits came on the wires out 70-85 ft on flasher flies and sushi flies. The one we did get was a hefty 30 lb'er! We only saw 2 other fish boated all day. -
Salmon River 9/11
Finders Keepers replied to backcountry78's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Yup! The Rrred Michigan stinger echip is called the Hot Tamale (they have them at Screwy Louie's in Fair Haven - I think I left one or two in there ) and Luhr Jensen also makes a metal dodger in the Rrred color - they have them at Bass Pro. For coho's we use a white fly behind the Rrred board - deadly!! -

Salmon River 9/11
Finders Keepers replied to backcountry78's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
I would recommend running red boards with green flies (23-25" lead from fly to board) on riggers and wires - has been fantastic for us last two weekends! Also, we found slower speeds (2.2-2.4) to be more productive. Just something to try! Good luck and have fun! -
Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Finders Keepers ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 9/11 Time on Water: 6:30-11:30am Weather/Temp: partly sunny warm Wind Speed/Direction: light se Waves: 1' Surface Temp: 64 Location: Salmon River LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 6 Total Boated: 5 Species Breakdown: Kings Hot Lure: Rrred echip w/ hypnotist fly Trolling Speed: 2.4 Down Speed: 2.4 Boat Depth: 40-60 fow Lure Depth: 25-50 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== My brother and I took out my sister and her boyfriend for their first Lake-O outing and get them on some kings. It wasn't fast and furious like last week, but at least we got them on some good kings! As we headed out of the channel we saw one of the boats fishing off the bank of the river hook up, so there were definitely fish in the river. Got on the water a little late this AM, but started setting lines at 6:30 and after the third rod got set, the 120' wire started singing! After a short run and some head shakes, it somehow hooked us on the bottom. Couldn't shake it free so we ended up breaking the wire line at the knot. Set back up and worked the 40-60 fow range and had a slow pick until 9am when the bite died all together for us. We managed to hook up with 5 more kings (8, 10, 16, 20, 21 lbs). Saw quite a few other boats hooked up, especially early, and saw quite a few fish jumping/breaking the surface. Didn't mark much on the FF screen, just occasional hooks - thought we would see a loaded screen of staging kings, but that wasn't the case. The following set-ups took shots: Green Glow J-plug Rrred Hot Tamale echip w/ hypnotist fly tipped with meat Wonderbread glow echip w/ glow teaser Blue dolphin spin doc w/ chasin' tail fly Green UV echip w/ crazy b**ch fly Riggers were set 25-38 ft down, wires out 110-150 ft. Over 100 boats working the area, including quite a few from Oswego. I didn't have my phone with me, so once I get the pics from my bro, I'll post them. That may be the last trip of the season for us if we don't make it out one last time next weekend. Good luck to all the fall fishermen and we'll see ya on the hardwater in Dec!

Finders Keepers Salmon Series Seminar at Bass Pro
Finders Keepers replied to Finders Keepers's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Yeah, we didn't get the connections and everything ready as early as we would have liked. we figured we would give it a go just to see and get a few of the kinks worked out with Bass Pro. Next year we will be rockin' and rollin' in the pre-season getting everyone tuned up for the 2012 salmon season! -
Finders Keepers Salmon Series Seminar at Bass Pro
Finders Keepers replied to Finders Keepers's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Hmmm, interesting. Rob, the store manager set it up and was supposed to advertise/inform at the store. I'll have to make sure that is done for the future events. Thanks for the info and hope to see you at our hardwater seminar in December or in the spring! -

LOC weigh in after 8pm
Finders Keepers replied to TOP SECRET's topic in Tournament Talk, Shows, Events & Seminars
I agree, a change is preferable. Maybe require that a picture accompany the weigh-in that has the date and time stamped on the file? I know all my pics have that info with them. Just a thought, but I would fish more evenings if an early morning weigh-in were possible!! -
