flys
Finders Keepers replied to slimyfish's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
To keep the flies from biting just do the Fish Dance!! -
You can also check them out on our website within the Pro-Am post: http://www.fksportfishing.com/NiagaraProAm-Log.html or at Great Lakes Tackle Supply: http://shop.gltsupplies.com/merchant2/m ... ct_Code=SF They are similar to a regular fly, but also have wire built in to them that holds a piece of cut bait in place. They also contain a treble and a single hook in a slightly different configuration than the tournament tie that is found with your typical flies. They performed extremely well this past weekend!!

Hey Mark, On Saturday Destroyah and Jaw Breaker were extremely good, with Man O War and Glitter Mirage also taking fish. Then on Sunday, we started with a whole bait program and the blue glow head was best. Then when we switched over to the sushi program, the Lemon Drop and Glitter Mirage were super hot, with the Jaw Breaker taking a few fish again. The new Rhys Davis/Familiar Bite strips are great! You guys are going to love 'em!! You can check out our website later this week where I'll be posting our full, detailed report of the program we were running, including pictures of the new sushi flies and new Rhys Davis/Familiar Bite bait strips.

Yeah, on the second day we had a stretch when we lost 8 to 10 in a row! We couldn't keep 'em on for nothing! Then we started boating them again. It's funny how it changes like that! -
sad state
Finders Keepers replied to SEE2FISH's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Yeah, the economy is definitely hitting a lot of people hard this year. Another thing to realize, with the boom in cell phones, people are using those rather than the radio, so while there was lots of chatter before, it's quiet now. -
Sodus 6/5 Evening
Finders Keepers replied to Zebedee's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Has anyone ventured off-shore, say 300+ fow? Just curious if anything is happening out there or if there are any super deep (200+ ft down) marks - we saw a TON of fish down 200-300 ft in Olcott and wonder if those are the big kings sitting down there... -
Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Finders Keepers ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 6/4 & 6/5 Time on Water: 4:30-10:30 Weather/Temp: Cloudy/overcast then storms Sat, bright sun and warm Sun Wind Speed/Direction: Light SW Waves: ripple Sat, 1' chop Sun Surface Temp: Low 50's Location: Olcott LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 16, 30+ Total Boated: 13, 20 Species Breakdown: Kings, steelies, and a laker Hot Lure: Sushi Flies (green Sat, yellow Sun) Trolling Speed: 1.9 - 4.0 Down Speed: 2.8 - 3.8 Boat Depth: 180 - 450 Lure Depth: sfc - 65 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== This was our first time doing the Niagara Pro-Am and it was a blast!! Since we only had 3 of our team members available to fish, didn't have the luxury of pre-fishing on Friday, and since this was our first time fishing the west end of the lake, we decided to fish the Open Division to "get our feet wet" in preparation for going Pro next year provided we have enough team members. The fishing was nothing short of amazing, but our problem was finding the larger class fish. Saturday: We headed to the NW out of Olcott at Dark 'O Thirty and ran almost to the border. By a little after 7am we had 5 fish in the boat, but our biggest was only a 12 lb steely, and none of the pro-boats were in sight, so we decided to make a move closer to port to see where others (who had probably pre-fished) were working. It seemed many were in the 200-400 fow range, so we set down over 400 fow and worked SE. Soon after setting lines, we picked up back-to-back 10 lb kings - nicer fish, so we continued to work that area. Ended at 10am going 13 for 16, all kings and steelhead. For day one of the Pro-Am we ended with 63 and change in points, which put us in 7th. Anything in GREEN was working, especially green sushi flies pulled behind green spin docs!! Sunday: We decided to target the skinnier water today since the deeper water hadn't produced for us. Headed out at 4:30am and set up over 230 fow. Before I could set the second rod, the first fired with a 10 lb king. We thought we were off to a benner day, but we ended up having a slow pick for the first couple hours with small fish again. By 7:30 we were only 3 for 3 and wondering if we should change the game plan! we happened to notice a pack of boats working an area to our east, so we pulled lines and moved several miles east to the edge of the pack, although most were working deeper once we got there. We set lines and it was GAME ON! At times we had 4 of the 6 rods in the boat with fish, although a majority of them were small. We ended at 10:45 and were 20 for 30+ (we lost track). We finished in 4th in Pro-Am with 60 and change in points. Today they wanted everything in YELLOW, again with the sushi flies in yellow being our top producers pulled behind yellow/silver echips. We would later learn after talking with those who did find the larger kings, that we should have gone west instead of east of port. Oh well, that's fishing! We still had a blast and can't wait 'til the next tourney, which for our team will be the Atommik Challenge at the end of the month, but for me will be the Oswego Pro-Am. We'll be closer to our home port and will have our full team, so we're fishing Pro. Congrats to the winners this past weekend and good luck to all the teams fishing this coming weekend!! Visit our website for a full, detailed report for each day at: http://www.fksportfishing.com (Go to Tournament Schedule and click on Niagara Pro-Am - will get it up as soon as I can )

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Finders Keepers ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 5/26 Time on Water: 4-8pm Weather/Temp: Cloudy, cool Wind Speed/Direction: Calm Waves: Flat Surface Temp: upper 40's Location: Hughes LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 5 Total Boated:4 Species Breakdown: Kings & Lakers Hot Lure: Familiar Bite Whole Bait Glow Blue Head & Mirage Sushi Fly Trolling Speed: 2.4 - 2.8 Down Speed: 2.2 - 2.8 Boat Depth: 50 - 100 fow Lure Depth: 30 - 80 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Got out with my brother on Coup's boat for a shake down last night out of Hughes. We set-up over 50 fow with a screen full of hooks! Soon after setting lines the copper takes off with a mid-teens king jumping behind the boat! Coup got it about halfway back before it came unbuttoned. We had 250 ft of copper out pulling a Familiar Bite whole bait blue glow head behind a white glow spin doc. A little later we boated a couple skip kings off the riggers set 30-50 ft down with purple diehard super slims. Then, just as we made the call to pull lines with the approaching storms, we doubled up on lakers! The first came on a lemon ice on the 65 ft rigger, the second on a familiar bite sushi mirage fly run behind a white glow spin doc on the 80 ft rigger. The larger of the two was about 13 lbs: Not too shabby for a shake-down run! We had a decent screen the entire night with fish from top to bottom and occasional bait on the bottom. The laker had two large alwifes in it along with a big 8" goby! We are hoping to get out at least once more before we head west next week for the Niagara Pro-Am.

Yeah, not sure if Warren's has it yet, but they will! You can also try Screwy Louie's in Fair Haven and Oswego. Again, if they don't have it now, they will come this summer!
