0.37" or 45lb copper sinks 20 feet every 100ft of line out at 2.0 to 2.5 down speed. I have a 600ft and a 300ft setup both on Penn reels. It's a killer when you get a fish and a PITA to run at times. Charters joke and call it a client killer. But hey bottom line it catches fish. Dansr, SSafran and I will be a Wrights on Friday and Saturday. We also will have the grill going on Saturday. We monitor 68 sounds like some guys on the the GLA board will be joining the fun as well. We go by Dasboot and have a 22ft thompson with a light tan soft top. Our truck will be a silver Dodge 1500 extended cab (blue single axle trailer) with an Atomik sticker (amongst others) on the slider window. Let's get together and have a cold one! Streeter in ontario does a nice job with fish. SSafran has had a couple done by him and they were very good.

Fished this rig Many Many times with Jack. To all that are interested this boat has better equipment than many of the charter boats I have fishing in. The electronics are top notch, down riggers, gear and everything else is the best you can buy. This boat is super fast as well. GREAT tournament boat. I would buy but the problem is I have three little girls and three weddings and college to pay for. Can't sneak this in with the slush fund .... Jack I will miss the rig! See you Saturday! Dan

" this is the bearing with the rubber doughnut in it that attaches to the lower unit. So would this be a sign of bad engine stringers? Never thought of this so thank you for the heads up. Okay Guys, My Dad (dan sr) and I are going to tackle a rotted floor in our 22 ft thompson. We also have a little rot at the transom end by the bilge. Any advice on how to tackle this project. I know that this has been talked about before but I wanted some opinions on what to do if the stringers are rotted as well and also if it is a good time to look into gas lines and wiring. I do not want it to get too big because we would like to have the boat on the water before salmon season. Please suggest on flooring types wood (plywood), coverings (ie vinyl), treatments, fasteners, adhesives etc. Thanks! For background the boat is an 83 and currently has a wood floor that looks like it has been replaced once already. I am worried that when we lift that floor we are going to have our hands full. :roll: Thanks, Dan

Not proud of this but nonetheless funny! We were out 400ft of water off Oswego and I have the sudden urge to take a dump. I couldn't make it back to port (we do not have a head in the boat) so my father hands me a SMALL bucket and a plastic bag and proceeds to almost laugh himself to death as I struggle with the idea of going over the gunnel or in the little bucket about to crap myself. It was bumpy out deep that day and the water was cold so I elected the bucket. To add to it we did not have any toilet paper on the boat so I had to use a paper bag that we had some frozen meat in. :shock: Very close to one of the most embarassing things I've done in my life. Taking a dump in a tiny bucket in rough seas while trying to keep on target at the back of the boat. At the same time my father is telling me I'm gassing him out between fits of laughter. At times we call the boat the Brown Star for obvious reasons. Let's just say I'm better prepared now.

King Me was using them when I fished with him during the Sodus Pro-am. They were working fine. We did not have fleas at the time though becasue the north wind had the low temp up in the water column. I do not know if he is still using them. I would think that fleas would be a pain with them.

Good season for the jr and sr team: Here we are with 06 bow bucks. Both were shot at the same time in consectuive days in the same area. Nov. 3 and 4 at 11:30am. I passed 7 different 1 1/2 year old bucks before I shot him. 20 inch spead, 210lbs dressed (on scale) My father also had to down a 5 point that was shot in the hindquarters (big hole looked like a rifle shot) on the first day of gun season. I passed a 6 point and a 4 point on the first day of gun. Missed a running doe with a muzzleloader. My father also shot two doe as well. One in NY and the other in PA.

Yup Jack has Vectors. They are built like a tank. Great Rod holders. I think his only complaint is the switch location. Which is on top and sometimes get bumped by accident. They are very fast. Jack you out there??

Yup no doubt Andy's rig sweet! That's why my father (dan sr), Shorthanded (jack), ssafran (steve) and I usually do a trip with him in the spring. Plus the guy is a blast to fish with. I do not think we are bringing our boat up this year because of some repairs we need done in the spring so we will be loving life on the Candy big rig. Only problem with PT wood is that it has a tremondous amount of mositure in it. Make sure to let it dryout for quite at while before you seal it with resin/epoxy etc. Otherwise that moisture will try to escape and it will bubble up the sealer, flooring etc. Plus it is more prone to warping and lifting because of the moisture and can delaminate. Let us know how it turns out! Good winter project!

Blacks for me. Fast and consistant setting for the release. I have tried scotty's as well but I think the current in Oswego pulls on my rigs and at times has caused my torpedo weights to plane and cross eachother. It does not do this with the blacks. I think becuase the blacks are allowed to swivel freely on the rigger wire and are not directly attached to the weights pulling on the tail and causing directional planning when down deep in the current. Maybe I wouldn't see this if I bought a bigger boat with a wider beam. :roll: Gotta stick with the blacks for now!
