  2. King season is too darn short, wish it was 10 months longer Tom
  3. One thing I have often noticed, the winners never have excuses to "show" when they place, but man when they don't they have every excuse in the world to leave dodge !! Sort of why I programmed my banquet the way I did for my Invitational, seems to me those same teams may not have those same excuses if they would have won !!! This is definitely a variable that is so unfortunate to get over-looked so often. I know first hand when you scrape up a win it sure is nice to get recognized, I think this is also why the follow-up of placements spammed on the boards and pertainant sites is so important Great mention !!! Tom
  4. Yes would agree, very true !!! and Yes would agree !!!
  5. Just a thought Please do not shoot............... I have always maintained a “majority rules†type attitude and quite frankly I could never understand why any-one person or even a committee would rule otherwise, but as has happened we have come to where we stand presently. With that in mind there are a few months to make a lot of decisions, much of this info has already been covered, but a feeling came to me that sounded important.... Let me ask a few questions, I am asking for a few important reasons.... I say important d/t the chance that if logistically the Pro/Am’s were to continue on the path they left off, without a new “entity†giving input to “those willing to shoulder†a new “Pro/Am†...then we may not have a Pro/Am at all in Oswego and Sodus, or worse case scenario one continuing like many of us came to dislike for one reason or another. What seems very important is to cater to the most teams, namely those who have all played in the past, if you are a past AM team or even if you were once let me ask you this: Did you or do you favor which first: Do you want to win cash or rank your self? Do you want to cover costs or simply play the game? Granted we would all “like to win†whether admittedly or not the glory is something undeniably yearned for. But we already know many would opt out for several reasons and give up that chance: Rule or event structure and entry fee topping the list from what I believe. My feeling even with the fact that I have almost always been on winning teams is that even when we win 1st or place high, it almost always only covers costs at best. Now to the Pro’s: Lets say to some of the Pro’s who have claimed that “carrot at the top†is the ultimate draw, what if we lowered the entry and created just one division (unlike what happened in 2012, we would have to create a new name as it could no longer become a Pro/Am) so we lowered entry to around $300 to $400 in hopes to draw about 60 teams. I realize with this thought we are no longer catering to the “Heavy Hittersâ€, but please ALL keep in mind, we want to cater to a Majority, even if we do not favor the opinion of those trying to make up the new rules, the ultimate goal is to grow the field. A few of my long time and very close friends are going to be like Tom, what are you saying (as first hand knowledge tells me all the heavy hitters always want is to increase entry)...But maybe if that could draw a lot of teams (Open division stepping up, Pro’s willing to take a monetary hit in trade for a larger field, and past Am’s willing to fish against the teams “that in hopes one day they will becomeâ€. Like I said just an idea... As far as rules governing the event my opinion that I believe would favor a majority would start with mandatory observes and No Communication, the rest of the rules could then be hashed out like 9 or 12 fish? Payouts based on a hypothetical 60 teams could go like this: 1-8,000 2-3,000 3-2,000 4-1,000 5-800 6-700 7-500 8-350 9-350 10-350 This is figuring $350 entry on a privately ran 2 set series of events with just using entry monies to cover everything, of course sponsorships could enhance it all and there are also always Calcutta's for those who like to risk it all... I have also kept in mind how in our eastern basin our small dollar 3 single division events draw from 70 to over 100 teams a year and that they have for over 5 years. Just an idea but would love more thoughts as the time draws near to gather input to forward to “those†who may be willing to possibly help out or take over with the future of Oswego and Sodus. This will not be me, but I will be happy to forward info, and actually it would get read here as well I repeat, please do not shoot !! HE HE HE Tom
  6. I hope so Rob but I think the problem lies within who was doing the results program before, even though a great job was done throughout the season that entity is no longer doing them and the program that they created is probably not available, this is to the best of my knowledge. Not to sure what will become of the 2012 Oswego/Sodus results at this point Tom

  8. Vince: If you only knew the whole story: Dave had asked if I knew a quiet secluded place where he could take a friend or 2 to fish the ice Told me it was all in fun and just a place to get away with a few close friends and family who wanted to catch a "few" fish and even his dad, Dave said my dad Tom, he is a quiet dude Enter: THE BIGGEST HUCKLEBUCK JOB EVER COMMITTED No less than 36 guys, who paired up in like 16 teams who brought down the ice level, threatened anyone else who normally frequents this "back woods" scene, killed everything that ate an ice jig or a minnow and yes even worms !!!! Shot off fireworks I heard, I think I heard of some fire "arms" witnessed as well and like 8 power augers and 9 wheelers, mostly equipped with flat bed trailers and gun racks. I heard they charged admission to any and all who wanted to come out for bait usage and best part is I heard his DAD FRANK WAS THE HEAD OF IT ALL !!!! PA !!!!! Tom
  9. I use a Navy Anchor and fish in pretty much anything, 3 to 1 is tough when fishing deep, your boat will move a ton. I use a 20 and a 30 lb when rough and also use an anchor wizard, no problems with the weight of the anchor and never have to put more than 2 to 1 out up to about 60 fow, 6' chunk of 5/16" chain also !! Tom
  10. Boat has been recently "tuned up", Ive fished off this boat many times each fall, has a small leak, there is a small bilge pump we click on a few times each day
  11. Troy, please opt a date that is free from events around the lake taking all ports into consideration, if that is done than many like myself WILL BE THERE !!! Tom
  12. At this point would have to say no, Several reasons currently: I have more than offered my opinions in the past and "the right people" never seemed to believe the simple fact that the amount of teams were drastically falling since the unification of rules or due to the fact there was even a majority that felt opposed to the existing rules at that time. Even at that last meeting I referred to, there were mentions of added teams dropping out in the future if something wasn't done, (this coming from east and west end events) after that statement (a statement that came true in hindsight in round 1) there was still an "attempted misleading" of how a majority of players/customers felt. Also not so sure the time needed to over come the past would justify the new time expenditure needed in the present. Could I satisfy the future commitment from those willing to give it a chance again? Also not so sure, I have a hard enough time now justifying those who choose to follow my name with what I have going on now, only so much one can do (who has a drive to also be a player and enjoy 150+ days on the water a year) Call me selffish I guess, but even at that I would certainly always offer my input and I assure it would satisfy a majority if I put my name on it. With that said and with that feeling looming just would not want to be at the head of it. I do however feel if these 2 events were offered to the people under new direction and in the appropriate light, they could once again flourish. I may be willing to help, just not head it with that info in the back ground Couple reasons, 1 of which can not be offered up yet, but the other is it has been noted by someone of importance (no names mentioned) that once the "Oswego Counties" were aware of the poor showing of entrants in 2012, that they would not be willing to support these events any longer. Tom

  14. Mike, Thank You Very Much for your time in posting the valuable info that you have. I also agree with this statement, just wanted to note that, however.... When you find yourself in a time that the above info concerning "economy in general" is true, wouldn't you feel that honoring a "majorities choice from those left" would be in the best interest of all: Players, sponsors, helping committee members, chambers, local businesses, etc etc etc? You are correct in your assumption in my opinion, but to add to the bleeding by trying to buck the players left, especially in a time like noted, doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense. Many of whom even reached out to a great degree for the hope to "continue to play" in the manner they once had Seems from those we have left, they are more than willing to "buck the times" to play the game, make it a possible win win and hey you never know.......... Jus sayin' Tom
  15. My $.02 I attended the last "Pro/Am" meeting as Vince has noted on August 9th Since that time from what little I have heard, it has all been on the back burner concerning East and West events From that last meeting I can add this: There is a strong sense of moving on with the West end 2 events at the pace it left off on from 2012, meaning at that meeting they were looking at carrying on with what was in place in 2012 for 2013, (this is my opinion from attending the meeting) there were claims from the "Head Boss" that he firmly felt those willing to continue participating in the future of the West end Pro/Am's were pretty much happy with a majority of the existing rules (the same rules that 95% of those attending the meeting had felt otherwise about) to top the content/namely the existing communication rule. According to those attending whom were all past or present players 95% of which clearly made their opinions known, and at the forefront of that topic was a feeling of the "eastern end events demise" being blamed on the non-workable rule structure from about 2007 to 2012. Recap: West end events to carry on as they were in 2012 for 2013 (unless a very quiet word has formulated and are predicting otherwise) East end events as Vince noted sit idle awaiting to be picked up by any entity willing to shoulder a "once awesome prestigious series of events" that has been weighted down by rules the players seemed to not be all that happy with. (Note: Some of the 2012 Committee members who are from the east end did show interest in taking over the east end events, at that time showing strong interest, guess we will see) it is again my opinion that the consensus of majority of those who were there that night were in agreement that the east end events would favor starting a "new" Pro/Am in relation to where the Pro/Am's left off back when the interest was the strongest IE: Just a Pro, an Am, an observer and No Communication Also as far as moving on with those who did show interest in taking over the east end, this time of year happens to be super busy till about 12/1, so I wouldn't expect anything soon, again JMO Tom
  16. Very sorry Brian !!! I been there and it sucks each and every time, never easy. I have had dogs my entire life since birth, I remember each and every one !!! Doesn't seem fair sometimes such a short life span in comparison to us, for the strongest commitment in the world a pet will share with its owner(s). They are a true friend to the end, they don't hold grudges and they are there for you through it all RIP Tugger Tom
