  5. There is no set minimum age: Depending on which prize your eligible for there would be some dictation: For the prizes available for largest fish over-all per event (x3) $350.00 and the trolling bags age would not matter Ex. Say your son/daughter is 5 years old and you need to aid him/her from the time the fish hits till the time the fish is brought to net For the prizes where a youth must reel in the fish it is simply that, the youth must reel in the fish If the youth is able to handle a trolling rod and reel and bring a fish to the net they will qualify for individual prizes (and or team), If you have to hand the rod and reel to the youngster (say if it is a diver rod and the child could actually reel in the fish but could not get it out of the holder that would be ok) but they must be able to handle reeling in the fish from there. I can not see a certain age to be a factor, I am sure some 6 to 8 year olds could handle this job while it may take other older children to do the same job. This is cut and dry, sort of treated like some charter clientele, I have been on many boats where full grown adults men/woman could not get a diver out of a holder when a King is peeling drag. Please keep in mind we are looking to bring new youngsters into these weekend/family related low cost tourneys, family oriented in this case being key. There are prizes for every scenario -Youth age limit is 17 years old, as long as your youth is still the age of 17 during the Mustad Challenge then he/she is eligible. Same goes for each event, if your youth is still 17 while attending each event they will qualify. Tom

  7. New This Year! Monday Big Boy Shootout! Oswego County event deadline is next Friday June 26th. Consider your team one of the best? If you have what it takes to prove it this event was designed for you. Building off of the Lake Ontario Pro-Am rules for the professional division, the Big Boys Shootout gives you the opportunity to put your team to the test. Held only in the ports of Niagara and Oswego, the Shootout’s will take place on the Monday following those two Pro-Am events. Join us on June 8th in Niagara and July 13th in Oswego for this new addition to the Pro-Am series. You must have been a competitor in either the Professional or Amateur division of the associated Pro-Am tournament to be eligible for this competition. The rules will be the same as those in place for the Professional division of the Pro-Am series with the following exceptions; This is a one-day event Entry fee is $1050* and must be submitted 2 weeks prior to the event Late entries will be accepted up to 4:30 PM (June 6th & 11th respectively) Entry fee for late entries will be $13001 (cash only) The number of late entries accepted will be no greater than 25% of the number of on-time entries and will be first-come first-served Late entries will only be accepted by the respective tournament directors Incomplete application forms will void an entry and entry fees will be refunded Teams must supply their own observers Observers will be swapped by blind draw on the morning of the event For the Niagara event you must start and finish in the port of Olcott For the Oswego event you must start and finish in the port of Oswego Payout will be 1st place - 50%, 2nd place - 30% and 3rd place - 20% The last place team in the Niagara event will be eligible for a ½ price entry in the Oswego Shootout (if submitted by June 26th) * – In an effort to help cover some of the expenses of conducting and promoting the Pro/Am Series, the directors approved an “administrative fee†in 2009 that is equal to 5% (not to exceed $50.00) of any event entry fee. This will allow the Series to continue its tradition of paying back 100% of the entry fees collected. In this instance the “administrative fee†is $50.00 (5% of 1000). Payback will be based on entry fees of $1,000 and $1,250 respectively.

  10. I kind of figured Del !! I could never see competition on the line without you and Mark ready for extra "action" He He He Just a FYI as I recently conversed with several more teams interested: We will not have a "set" amount of brackets or "teams per bracket", this goes for Pro and Am, this will be determined by the amount of teams that enter, Rob used 5 teams as an example in his diagram. Also mentioned was each team would have the same chances of being drawn into any bracket as we will do it live after captains meeting. Thanks Tom
  11. Rob and myself are monitoring this thread for continued input Thanks so far for the input generated We have spoke with Dave Turner for the "ok" and its looking like there is a 95% chance this bracket tourney within a tourney will happen if the interest remains steady as it has: Our initial thought is we would not have enough am teams to commit, however we are willing to rethink that and consider it now, if we can get at least 12 to 15 am teams to commit (to have at least 3 teams in a bracket and have at least 4 brackets) The Friday 2nd Annual A-TOM-MIK/Fat Nancy's Shootout is a go as well. Tom
  12. Our original thought was Pro only, its not set in stone but would have to be re-looked at if there was more interest from the Am side than we figured Tom
  13. Abe's in Sodus would be the closest I know of or we can ship a pair of them to Rochester for $86 http://www.atommiktrollingflies.com/ttw.htm Tom
  14. We are thinking about having a new style event in conjunction with the Oswego Pro/Am Rob Ripka owner at Fat Nancy's Tackle Shop had what I think is an awesome idea Still only a thought but we have been getting some positive feedback from a few normal participants to the Oswego event already which has prompted our next step.....................more feedback: We are trying to keep the ideas/comments/concerns to within the normal participants as not to influence our final decisions based on feedback from those who will not be involved in the Oswego Pro/Am: Please add your thoughts here or E Mail me or Rob from Fat Nancy's with your thoughts [email protected] [email protected] Entrant Fee: $200.00 Pro Division Only Subject: Bracket Fishing Tournament Idea for Oswego This is an example of how it would work using 25 teams, if we had a different number of teams of course the day 1 groups would have different amounts of teams in them. We may be in a position where all the brackets don't have equal amounts of teams in them but it would all be set up ahead of time so each team would have the same chances of drawing into that bracket. To the five advancing teams in this example I would like to add a sixth team which would be the highest point team that did not win its bracket giving you 6 teams competing on Sunday.. The six teams left would start from scratch on Sunday. Should Sunday be blown off Saturday's advancing teams point totals would be used for the payouts.Likewise should Saturday be blown off then we would run the first day brackets on Sunday with the advancing teams point totals used to determine the payouts. In the unlikely chance that two teams tied the team with the largest single weight fish that day would advance or finish in the higher position My suggested payout would be as follows based on 25 teams: 1- $2500 4- $400 2- $1000 5- $300 3- $600 6- $200 The blind draw for brackets would be done Friday night after the captains meeting. Maybe we could come up with something similar to last year as far as a per team give away. We need more feedback, just an idea to spice things up SATURDAY'S SUNDAY'S BRACKETS FINALS GROUP 1 DAY ONE HIGH POINT TEAM FROM EACH GROUP 1__________________ 2__________________ 3__________________ 1 ------------------------ 4__________________ 5__________________ GROUP 2 6__________________ 7__________________ 8__________________ 2 ------------------------ 9__________________ 10_________________ GROUP 3 11_________________ 12_________________ 13_________________ 3 ------------------------ 14_________________ 15_________________ GROUP 4 16_________________ 17_________________ 18_________________ 4 ------------------------ 19_________________ 20_________________ GROUP 5 21_________________ 22_________________ 23_________________ 5 ------------------------ 24_________________ 25_________________ HIGHEST POINT TEAM NOT WINNING A BRACKET 6 ------------------------

  21. There use to be a company back in the 80's called Slim Darter, they were wrapped in yellow rubber and had a piece of scallop flash tape near the tail, they weren't fish shaped but more torpedo shaped, was that it? Tom
  22. Just a side note on Fat Nancy's Tackle shop in Pulaski Rob Ripka (one of the owners) has a very positive attitude when it comes to stocking what the anglers walking in the doors want. In these trying times it is a hard sell for many manufacturers to get their product on tackle shop shelves. Rob who pays his crew very well keeps knowledgeable staff on hand concerning river and big water influence, the entire crew at Fat Nancy' put many hours in staying on top of the most requested tackle anglers are looking for. I do not mean to knock any shop who has struggled through the years keeping the doors open while dealing with the very short windows of opportunity the angling world presents, however to find even one shop that can offer every big lake need, river tackle, inland lake gear or the like is a very tough task to accomplish, also a very tough task for most shops to handle, the tackle industry just does not offer huge rewards for those shops who choose to try. I agree that Jim Dence has put his heart and sole into his business, I remember when Jim and Basil opened the doors, their intentions satisfied many anglers through the last 18 years. Dave Wood at Woody's Tackle and the up and coming Little Salmon River Tackle Shop as well as Brendon or old owner Louie at Screwy Louie's over the years have put more hours in standing behind a counter waiting for just one vehicle to pull in to make the day a positive one. The tackle business from all their standpoints is an act of love, most of trials and errors and many empty days inbetween good ones !!! Don't mean to leave any of this areas shops out they all have put in much dedication, Ginny at Port Ontario, the old Rock Bottom in Oswego to B & W or Larry at the Salmon Shop, say what you will, feel as you feel they all have had their dedication to us anglers for many, many years. Do not overlook any big water/river tackle shop trying to feed their families, it is a tough feat !!! Fat Nancy's is live and well, the owners Rob and Mike along with a staff and crew of around 10 employee's are some pretty dedicated people and maintain a very vibrant shop that we are very lucky to have in today's day !! Tom
