A few years ago we started antler restrictions. Can be frustrating at times but the bucks are getting to live longer and get BIGGER. Jeff
-
What is really impressive, beside the buck itself, is that young man used a primative weapon, stalked the buck on his turf, and it was probably harvested on the family farm not some intensly managed private preserve. Congrats to him and his family!!! He gives hope to all us regular people again. Jeff

Greg, Awesome pictures appreciate you sharing them with us. Congrats to all and have a great holiday season. Jeff

Paul, You are a blessed man that is for sure. Savor the moment and I hope it continues for you. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Let me know when the pens are going to be put in at the Oak. Matt and I are planning on coming up and helping. Jeff Jackson

When I fish on Rod's boat we use the Scottys. I personally like the Blacks. Easy to adjust tension and since I fish on both Lake O and Lake Erie for salmon and walleyes, it makes it easier to adjust accordingly. Both work just fine, Jeff

The smile on both of their faces says it all. I know I would be grinning ear to ear. Congrats, Jeff

Hope you see him tomorrow. Good luck and shot straight. Jeff

I'm not sure who was more nervous Matt or I. I knew he could make the shot and he did. I know he had to sit down once the deer took off because he was shaking quite a bit. A totally awesome expierence!!! Thanks for everyone's congrats. Jeff

No I had it done at a local shop. Done many of them in my time but don't have the time to do it anymore. Jeff

I thought I would add a picture of my 13 year old son Matt with his first deer and first buck. He harvested this deer this past Saturday here in PA with his bow. Dad couldn't be more proud!! Jeff Jackson.

Jax, Can't wait to see what you get next year. That was pretty cool. Jeff

Rod, Great pictures and the water looks great. Great day for you guys. Keep on using those umbrella rigs. Jeff

I have both heartlands and blue diamonds and I haven't had a problem with either one. For the money I don't think you can go wrong with either. Jeff

Comparing the Pro and Am teams' numbers is not fair. the Pro teams can box 12 fish at 10 points per fish and a point per pound. The Ams can only box 6 fish. Our team has beaten many Pro teams and the end even though we can only keep half as many fish.

Iceman There were 88 teams in the Niagara, 55 at Orleans, and 62 at Oswego. The proam web page did not give the number of teams for Sodus, but I imagine that they were similiar. So there is a 50 to 60 team average in the 4 tournaments. I have fished some of the Proams and have to agree that putting 2 good boxes of fish together is not as easy as it sounds. You have to do it 2 days in a row, can't leave till a specific time, can't fish till 6am, and have to be back in by 2. Give them a try and you will see that they are alot of fun!! Jeff

Have to agree with My Turn. Observers don't guarantee the intregity of the tournaments but I think having observers is as close to it as you can get. Nothing is guaranteed and if someone wants to cheat bad enough they will figure out how to do it. I think that the observers should remain. Probably wouldn't need a lie detector test if the observers are present. I could go either way on the communication rule. I favor culling at the Niagara or raising the fish limit back to 9. Any changes to the existing rules should be well thought out and introduced slowly to see how they work out. Move the current am division to semi-pro and form a new am division and get rid of the rules that some people don't like. Maybe some of these teams will move up to the other divisions once they are involved in the Proams and see how much fun they are. I totally agree on having more fun!!!! Jeff

It is really sad that few people have enough respect to leave other peoples property alone. I hope that whoever took your camera Yankee gets their just reward sooner than later!!! I like the idea of trying to get a picture of whoever took it. Hopefully no one else bothers any more of your stuff. As for me, I respect landowner's wishes and stay off property unless permission is granted. The world would be a better place if we all respected other people and their things. Jeff

Mine are always off and in the basement for the winter. Not worth the risk and simple enough to do. Jeff

Have to agree with Matt that having a list of local people that want to be observers would sure make it easier for teams wanting to enter tournaments. And I also agree with his statement about trying out a tournament. Most who do will want to do more and the added effort to find an observer will be well worth it. If having to find an observer is a problem for some teams then what has been mentioned about renaming the current am division to semi-pro and forming a new am division with less rules and no observers seems to be the perfect way around this. Come on guys, this is a way to reccomend changes to the directors of the Proams so open up and give some ideas on what you would like to see changed. If we don't speak up now we should not complain later. Jeff
-
Matt, I would second all that was said above. Listen and ask and you will find most people on this site are more than willing to help out. Being an observer is a great way to get a feel for how the tournaments operate and how to run some of different setups and tackle. The tournaments are great and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is serious about fishing. They are truely alot of fun!!! Jeff

Best Method - Keeping Mice out during storage
Jeff J replied to waterlogged's topic in This Old Boat
Been using moth balls for years and have had no problems. As said above boat airs out in a couple of days once it gets opened up in the spring. Have heard good things about the dryer sheets as well. Rich you are right it is going to be a long winter. Jeff -
Lou, Nice picture!!! Seeing my son catch his first king was an awesome experience. I take him whenever I can and the fishing is for him. Can't wait for my daughter to get bigger so she and I can have that same experience. Yankee is right, it is a little easier to take the kids fishing than going yourself. Good luck in the future. Jeff

I am in agreement with Glen and Rod. I had the opportunity to fish 2 of the Proams with Rod this past year and had a blast. I look forward to next year and hopefully continued success. I do not want to see them changed much!! I totally agree with Glen that these are more than a derby and should remain that way. I agree with Rod that if they want to make it easier and attract more am teams, rename the current am division to semi-pro and make a new am division and make it simpler and less expensive. I think that if observers are eliminated, you would want to have the winners take a lie detector test, this way no one should doubt the standings. I think that eliminating or changing the Lake Cup for both divisions would be a huge mistake. This is like the Super Bowl of these tournaments and it should remain as is!!! Hopefully more ideas and suggestions will come and hopefully the people in charge will listen and look at these closely. Jeff

Could use 1-2 more teammates for a 40hr striper tournament
Jeff J replied to Fishtails's topic in Open Lake Discussion
If any of you guys are wanting to net any fish you are going to have to tie Rod up and throw him down in the cuddy!!! Just kidding. Hope all of you have a great time and I wish Matt and I could be there. Rod keep me informed on how you guys are doing. Jeff -
Rod, Glad to hear that those Savant spoons worked well. You are right about getting and using product and then buying more. I will be looking at getting some myself. We all hear about different brands of products and don't always buy them to try. Got to stop somewhere. You get something to try, it works, and you buy more. I want to chime in here and THANK all the sponsors of all the events that I participated in with you. Hopefully it will get better and better!!! Jeff
