Well after a free haircut to a nice deer last weekend, busy with work and the season getting near the end I had to settle for this one ..not a bad deer by any means but if you saw what these eyes saw this season (mine) ,and some very makeable shots missed ya might say "settled for" too. Heres the kicker i didnt drag him 50 yds and .....yup one of the big boys walked right by at 90 yds just to rub it in stood there and gave me all the time in the world to send him some lead....Well i didnt tell him i just finished a big job and can come out and play monday with the muzzy so after he continued to walk and feed i started draging again.....less than 100 yds more draging and no bull here comes a nontypical smasher.. straight at me just then the deer i was draging started sliding and snaped a few dead branches and see ya..the cold weather has em eating and moving real good when the temps warm up a tad....like TODAY....also had a nice little 6 pt run up first thing and start feeding at 40 yds over all its been fun and its nice to know some nice deer await my arrival monday

man running late ss yer giving my secrets.. but their is one problem for me to smell at that hight every time i jump that high i spook the deer..Im trying to patent a snorkle devise so i dont need to jump..that doesnt interfier with my sights. I think its the post rut now acording to the wife its about this time of year she gets real mean about my hunting addiction....Ive got a couple folks who could use some meat maybe this year ill use my doe tag, and take a smaller buck too naaaaaaaaaaaa.. the cold will put the deer in very predictable areas..which is good now that ive lost my sent advantage. -
well i feel better that the buck i gave a haircut to wont have a cold spot on him this winter,,,,,a ex friend got him it was only 17.5 inside with 12 in g2's....Double noteto self NEVER tell a ex friend where ya saw a big buck.... havent seen it yet but he guesses 135 Musky ya got any good recipes for Aderondic "Deer Hair Stew"

hmm lots of does and no bucks.........maybe their are so many does the bucks are all locked down naaa ... now 7 to one is my target numbers. . . . . . . 7 bucks to 1 doe weve seen 6 smashers this last weekend and every one was with doe...saw 2- 6 pt 1 -3pt and 1- 7 pt and 2 spikes all feeding with doe or buttons ,groups with little intrest in them they were all about the feeding....................look for white oaks and you got deer..the 2 nd rut is bout over chemung, odessa area.. so in a couple days the big boys will drop their guard and put the feed bag on......the one my brother got had "O" fat notta nuttin on the meat with the cold snap thell wake out of their happy mode and start feeding like starving rats....trust me.

I have to say whatever ya do go with above post and bite the bullet with good remote throttle control nuttin worse than jumping over crew or stuff to correct speed. Hindsite and 1000's of trips to the tiller will put that item on my wish list. Trust me spare a weeks worth of wifes makeup and get the throttle control....I hear home depot has some good paint you could dump in her makeup jar..(dont forget the paint remover). Ps .. throttle controls speed not mfg. i can trim my honda to whatever i want (under 6mph) and if i want to save a little hopping to the tiller for u to .2mph ill put the main moter in reverse the extra prop drag will slow the boat that much.

Ok cabin feaver time , actually with the snow its perfect hunting time but i stuck my hand up too many times this year and now i gotta finish some big jobs ,,wiffy is retired so i cant even sneak out for a sick day. actually as soon as i finish last couple loose ends we can both play...(NOT THAT). My brother in law who gave me my first bow and shotgun years ago turned me into a avid (anal) hunter..well he tends to have a few years of dryspells and when a respectable 9 pt (2.5 yr) walks within 50 yds he drops it in its tracks with a 300 in the shoulder um both shoulders ,he explained thats how the guys on TV do it..Well if your shooting a 5yr old cactus eating trophy rack in 70 deg weather i guess meat ant yer main concern.. 6 yrs agoi bought my first muzzy and ive improved my "hunting" 100% due to the knowlage one shot was pretty much had to count ,tho i can reload with the speed of a civil war soldier.. Ive had the good luck of hitting the heart on several deer in the past 6 years between NY and IN. and none have gone more than 30 yds some 30 ft or less. the others have been double lungs and a 60 yd run has been the longest. If im lucky enuf to see the deer i know is in a secret spot ill go for the lungs or heart enuf said on that spot...now i also hunt a swampy spot and the buck is over 200 lbs in that area i might consider the shoulder to shorten the drag and spare me and the cape and 1 ft water drag. So if your going for meat id say the "kill zone"behind the shoulders should be your aim, unless yer on the edge of land you cant retrive on..or its a smasher you want to drop in its tracks..

ray koziatek replied to chowder's topic in Hunting Equipment
andy , for the amount you would use it id say save yer money..I dont care if its a tree or bypod ya still got a lot of possable movement on the stock end of the gun er um rifle.. How about a 5 gal pail some food products come in they are alittle taller than most pails.. Get one of thos cushie tops ,,rig it like a trappin pac or carry it like Muskies lunch pail then ya can toss in some extras maybe a goot seat if ya set up in some brush ,, And in a emergency could make a great carry out toilet.. -
Way to go bert , now ya got 42 other brands to test... i lernt um well holy crap 30 years ago from my bro in law in fla.. ,, after every trip on the salt water its soap and scrubbing every thing from the boat to the rods.. then the case of wd 40...W=water D=displacement 40= number of tries before final mixture was "discoverd" ( fun fax) ..any ways we sprayed every rod reel down.. Now with that said again for the new guys WD-40 is not a good lubracant cause it also washes out oil and will dry out bearings or moving parts.. yes it works good at first but any cleaned bearings or pivot points should be oiled or greased for proper care for long term .. watch the overspray bert got some on my head and all my hair slid down to my ears and back......... Ernie..
