  1. oK ,OK this is the second solo fishing trip ive read about in a couple days ...Ive been doining it for about ten years BUT i Have good reason""BUFFY FISHING"" ,,,,I hope you guys arnt really out there in the buff trying to steal my image !!!!! Let me forwarn you it ant easy between fallin asleep without sunscreen on ,to the biting flys it takes a real man to keep from screaming out there,,,,not to mention a couple missplaced treble hooks could have you doubletalking at the emergency room...... So If yer gonna persue my passion ill give ya a couple tips..:: 1-set alarm for max of 30 min first few times out.. 2-NEVER ,NEVER swat a biting fly outa reflex actions , It could be more painfull to you than the fly. 3- Well this one is yours ,you tell the nurse whatever you want ,I ant gonna tell all my secrets. 4- When someone tell ya to stick it where the sun dont shine "DONT SAY WHERE IS THAT? "" just because the sun will be shining there now.. It will only lead to more agression .......................
  2. I used to fish seneca a lot too...then i made that fatal trip north...seneca 18 mi LO 114 i dont even think twice where im heading....missed my first LT derby in 15 years...I'll heal
  3. i would strongly suggest to eat at the ?????village inn???? right on the corner of 104 and 98 ......prime rib is outstanding....and all beef is from the midwest it dont get no better ...and the price is right too ,,,thell take ya as you are but a quick hosing down might be suggested ..trust me you wont regret eating there .....i think thats the name ..someone chime in if im wrong...
  4. welcome , baklava, opps not the dessert section ok Hankcava..
  5. Hey Jarhead way to get em!! ray k U.S.M.C. 74-79 Ch-46 airwing
  6. nice post.....
  7. Psst jeff ,sometimes you can get in a rut trying the same hooks all the time ,a very smart move on your companys part ,would be to send someone new on some of those fishing trips ,you know 2 heads are better than one. I would be willing to sacrafice some time to travel with you to help better improve your companys product. I know I know this is a tuff decision on my part but im willing to travel and fish to help all the employes at Mustad... Welcome Ray K.
  8. nice going musky with such a easy answer as 14 its amazing to me how many 4th graders we have here...If you think this site is user friendly (it is) and very well thought out (a learning curve of the "nerds" ) it is, Imagine what Chad and "Blueeye Design" could do for your Website......but as hard as i try there seems to be some kinda glitch that makes me spelll werds rong , Me thinks chad is pickin on mee and somehowe scramblles my post so half of my wordes are mispelt...
  9. 22 ft has been the "majic" length ive found , side winds are the worst for any boat and the aluminum (low deadrise) makes it worser over 15 mph,but with a little time you learn to bump the speed for windy turns ,and maybe pull the downwind dyp to prevent crossovers.... as far as trolling in 4 to 6 ftrs its actually better due to it boyancy and ability to stay on top of the waves (mandatory derby conditions only not fun) just dont plan on high speed runs in those conditions unless its down the gullies or your gonna level out all the tackle on the floor and arrive at the dock toothless.
  10. good catch on the color after years of fishing i just "assumed" you were running black or purple ,not that other colors wont work guess im sorta stuck in a rut on the black ones.. I know your happy with the mono but trust me and others ,i dont care what some computer generated super wooper test shows you will loose strength with a knot, steady pull on mono will streach a tad when its streatched rub a few small stix (floating crap) maybe a tad line guide wear, a little irragularty of line during mfg..and one good 15 to 35 lb salmon hit now ya got everything working at its max 20 lb capasity, and you will be reeling in a limp line less 20 to 30 $ worth of tackle,, Its bad enuf for me to spend 100.00 rd trip on gas for th van to loose a little tackle hurts more to loose a fish of a lifetime or 20,000.00 loc fish for a 40 dollar roll of wire,,,could (will) come back to haunt you for years to come ,,,50 to 65 lb Power Pro is a friendly option also .......Please dont take my post as a bashing to your setup but more of friendly advise from someone who has a few hundred dollars laying on the bottom of lake ontario.. get some spray paint for the dyspys and do a good job painting and the money saved buying new dyspys invest in some power pro or wire..DONT SKIMP ON THE ONLY THING BETWEEN YOU AND A MONEY FISH OR FISH OF A LIFETIME.. or any fish as far as that goes.. Including all tackle,swivels,snaps,leaders...try this streach yer 20 lb line with 5 lb pull then touch a knife to if and see how long it takes to cut through...then try with 30 lb wire..
  11. well pretty light line ( mono ) so yer getting lots of streach,,with 30 lb wire set at 2.5 setting w/ring its 3 to 1 (close) at 2.2 to 2.5 mph with spinnies (.012 dia wire) little deeper with spoons.. yer dypsy releases need to be set very light (trip easy) ,but that dont explain no hits , make shureyour spoons run good at the surface tho down currents can make big diff ..let out 30 or 40 ft on line and notice how much bend youhave in the rod then drop out to desired depth and try to match the bend as down currents vary usually below 50 to 60 ft.....try to run spoons at slowest speed you can without loosing action ,then if you get somecurrents your stuff wont start spinning or getting goofy...
  12. well we cant make the derby but ill have the puter and will be following the action online ,so if anyone in it could post "unofficial reports" for those of us forced to go on vacation (and fish for stripers) and for the interested inhow our LOU brothers are doing, it would be nice.. might even spark some future intrest. Thank You Ray K.
  13. Wonder if everyone on the thrillseekers will be in the loc ? (sorry vince ) If I was gonna be in the area id be there running up against the big boys. This is (scotty) the Best run derby ive ever entered ,Hope the weather is ok for all ,and a safe and good times had by all!!
  14. NO LANDSHARKS ALLOWED ON ERIE uNLESS YOUR IN MY BOAT !! now is as good of time as any for the best fishing (usually).
  15. dont know on the rubber, its 320 miles round trip so when im there i use what alyays works for me,,ive tried stix and spoons on some of my 2 day trips but not for long....ran 1 naked lady and got two sheephead so i pulled it..Gave my friend all the fish it was his first time walleye fishing on erie...1 st fish was 3 to 4 lbr and he said it was the biggest walleye he ever got(67yrs old)he is 3 years surviving bad lung cancer so i let(made)him reel every fish ,and smiled to my self knowing I usually toss back the small ones......his eyes lit up when the next fish was our 8 lbr and he gave me that "you sob" look after not letting him know the 4 lbr was small.. It was great letting him drive even with 100ft+ leads and dyspys out ,and him sharing the stories of fishing with his dad many years ago.... I can (Lord Willing) do many more trips and it did my heart good to give him all the fish, even gouged out the cheeks on the bigger fish something he never heard of..so after 50 gals of gas and many hours driving to two lakes i came home fishless but happier than most trips i take.......PS he ownes a 300 acr farm in Indiana and im 1 of 4 people he lets hunt it so ill get my payback in november....
  16. Darn where is a man to hide his inflatables......???? er um extra fishing partners...
  17. my guess 50 to 75 ft ,,,from some of the hookups ive had(with another boat) ...some of those fall derby guys outa mexico dont pay much attention to those big rods off the side of the boat and just think yer being friendly waving and tooting the horn... seems like in a older GLA mag. i read 50 ftish.of course the inside will trail way out with a agressive turn........................please fish dont hit now!!!!
  18. THANK YOU !!!!!!! EVEN YOU BUNCHA STINKIN BASHERS THATS WHY I LOVE THIS SITE
  19. just a heads up the Nascar race is this weekend with over 100,000 people in the watkins glenn area and when the race gets out its bumper to bumper till 8,,,;9.pm race gets over around 3 usually maybe 4 ,,,,every back road and main road will be plugged ...I hate to say this but ya might sit it out for this weekend......or Cayuga.. even the am trafic comming into town will be bad..........

  22. Hey Jonny ,pretty good fish , next time play with the focus for about 30 sec and that guy will be crying with his arms streatched out with a fish that size. they ant a ton of those big boys (girls) yet but becoming a everyday occurance somewhere on the south shores. getting close to a 20.000.00 $ derby dont spill too many beans ,,,unless its in a pm to mee... takes good teamwork to bring in a fish like that but id pay 20.00 for a vidio for the real story.....GRAB THE ROD !!!! OMG WE GOT A FISHY ON !!! WHAT DO WE DO???? DONT BRAKE THE BARBY POLE!!!!!!!!CALL RAY FOR INSTRUCTIONS!!!!!WHERE IS THE NET??? AHH I HOOKED FLY
  23. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water: Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): ====well got to the oak 4pm monday ran off shore to find fish for my friend from indiana did one skip and 5 steelies by 7 pm .. got a late start tuesday ,due to finding a place for him to get licence... all charters (even the Buc dont tell ron) were gone offshore .. Started at 27 line and pointed to canada..had 2 good fly hits on dyspy but both unbuttoned on run ,tells ya a lot about their mood "not good"....most charters were tossing out the kitchen sink and dissusion lunch options at 11 am another bad sign. we only landed 3 steelies around the 30/11 lines and called it a day.packed up and headed to spain,, Another late start waiting for the lady with worms to show up..did manage 7for 8 one 3-4 lbr everything else 5 to 8 lbs...would of had our limit with ease but i had to run to my secret spot and wasted 3 hrs (never never leave walleye to find walleye) .. But we had a great time with calm waters and lots of sun and many stories.....................We both agreed fishing is great but the catching was the bonus...oh all harness bites and their were lots of worm pickers so check em often cause after 1/2 hr yer shootin blanks..=========== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: Total Boated: Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ====================
