  1. the pointy end goes towards the front of the boat...............ant never had that happen make shure flasher swivel is in proper allignment,,,sometimes if you just drop it in it will sorta catch but not every time in fact its rare that it happens....with moderate care in deploying... are ya dropping riggers fast by releasing clutch? actual down speed anal fast??? or supergluing swivels are all i can think of ...Like mentioned long leads off ball could cause major problems with spinnies....hey yer not deploying your spread in 50 fow and running to 200 fow at 20 mph are ya??
  2. hmm touch screen after handling a fish , might be a concern too,sun burn screen,ky,sent,pickin nose,foamy beverage,ect,ect...
  3. Im justa plummer type guy with a tad bit of COMMON sence,,,but probly the cost per wind farm project in relation to # of homes supplied ,could almost be more expensive than outfitting the same # of homes with solar energy, and a small prop to boot for the wind where it could be used..no transmission lines in water or on land, shure it ant gonna do 100% of current electrical needs but ,maybe , just maybe instead of just changing our supply sources, we should change our user habbits...lets see cars of yeasteryear 12 to 17 mpg now 30 plus mpg is becoming norm...............naa it would never work... maybe someone needs to turn the thinking cap around..
  4. ahh so ya dumped the wifes clothes and repacked her bags smart move ........till ya got home , ant no doubt thats your dad ,good for you two to share a common bond and to USE IT.... I do make a very good luggage carrier next trip ,and could bring a big suitcase ,ill just pack my birthday suit and thongs in a carry on bag(just not during bear season) .... Thank you , (fur ,,,for what you do!)
  5. Another good post (not for you).. I always strap my kicker for the road even with a heavy kicker plate most say " Do not trailer with motor on" on my old support i always removed motor for the road...5 min extra work or 2000.00 kicker.................and maybe cause a crash behind you..................Take the time 1 hr to mount good "U" bolts to the transom to easly strap motor tight ,,,or remove the roads ant getting better, specially some of those R/R crossings on the way to the lake..for us country bumpkins remember running (now ya gotta walk slowly) to the back of the bus for the fun ride toss in a good curb hit and youll fly off the seat..............well that kicker dont enjoy the back seat ride as much as we did ummm yesterday..or was that 40 years ago?
  6. Ohhhh! good idea Larry THANKS!!!!! HONEY..........................YA BUSY..
  7. Great Post ,,,, Maybe someone woke up at " Lowrance" and noticed that the voice of 6000 plus fishermen and over 2 million hits a year might have a impact on their buisness... Now if they would come up with a user friendly waterproof card with a "Quick Tips"they could use on the water for some of us old farts who are forgeting more than we remember ..( and new owners too)).. the 300 page manual the way its layed out makes as much sence as my 500 page cell phone manual.. specially in 5ft seas. squeek,squeek,squeek......lube .....ahhhhhhhh!
  8. ant no weeds at 80 ft but your cables probly were loaded up and slid down on retreve..if you have a green spin dctr and green fly put it 6 ft only from ball down 80 and troll 2.2 to 2.4 mph youll get every active laker in the area try to find 100 fow and run the 80 down
  9. commin out on the 14 th to brewster hmm need some fresh arms...
  10. see ,,,, now thats a great report..
  11. seemed like a nice girl i sent her 5000.00 and we have a date next tuesday ...
  12. well it took some time for me to learn and i was tought by a laker or 2,,,i was killin (catchin) 10 to 1 lakers in seneca on dyspys to rigger hits then the pea pod started smokin and i got thinkin the lakers like the tighter circle compaired to the 12 to 15 ft lead on the riggers....after shortin the riggers they were getting as many if not more hits than the dyspys 5 to 6 ft back so its gotta be the circle size thing.. yea the boat calls in the steelies to the spread but its not uncommon for me to run em back 40 to 100 ft in steelie waters ant nuttin better than seeing a steelie jump behind the boat 4 ft in the air with all 4 rods still locked in the release ,,,,for about 2 sec if you want to see some major air time the long leads are a fun way to do it... i dont do this in derbys or serious fishing just when i want to see fish fly and the best part is sometimes they shake the hook so you dont have to mess around pullin them in...and if they do shake it, they almost always jump 3 or 4 more times,... for that added enjoyment..maybe ill do a video its better than fightin them
  13. http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=PqGOUF9 well the hook on this fish that was called a brown by dec, proam checker, and everyone who saw it was as big or bigger ,,,also the pic i zoomed was the first pic with white fin on top and white tail and white fin on bottom and is fat all the way to the tail ,,,maybe just was lighter first cought and then got darker later on
  14. id call it a big ole brown and by the pinkish belley hes one of those big boys thats been resting on he bottom for a tad waiting for some cold water to wke him up..
  15. let the kid steer!!!we need agood report
  16. give me a call and ill give ya some tips how to catch fish without cutbait.....thanks

  18. I usually use 30 lb p line but i forgot to check for abraison after a good fight last weekend and it cost me my favorite flasher fly. (next fish)..now i gotta buy more stuff....been thinking 40 or 50 lb leader material like i use for the ocean fishes, really good for abraision when fightin sharks and around rocks ill give it some testing before i get comfy with it..
  19. HMM LARRY, 1-no shorts 2-the buffy 3-sunburn 4-speedo special 5-no see em 6-holy shart ! 7-dicky doo 8-hairy back waddler 9-the baldy 10-O.M.G. hookinballs spoon= left on seat and sat on in buffy mode and how do i get to hospital and explain my emergency.....
  20. black dypsys,wire,2.5 setting,,,approx 3to1 ratio ex:240 ft out =80 down at 2.5 mph, slower speed a tad deeper ...run 40 lb mono between dypsy and flasher approx 8ft long...pull check all knots(wet when tieing) .........the white spin dctr with green dots and no see-um fly or little boy blue.....let out slow enuf as to keep tension on line,,,make shure dyspys are on correct side (weight towards boat)...slow turns are a must (long turns) ,,,opps fly about 22in back from spinny,,,and for starters run the spinnys as setup out of package(swivel connections),,,,keep dypsys out to side of boat and close to water if possable (DO NOT USE CHEEP PLASTIC HOLDERS PUT IN RIGGER HOLDERS IF YOU DONT HAVE GOOD ROD HOLDERS),,,,KEEP DRAG LOOSE to the point of almost slipping after dyspy is out ,,,,,,,OH THE RELEASE ON THE FRONT OF THE DYSPY MUST BE LOOSE TO THE POINT OF ALMOST TRIPPING ON ITS OWN (this will take some trial and error to perfect as to retrieve dyspy, a slight to moderate tug on the rod should release the dypsy for retreavil or fish strike ,,,,,,make shure your straight (boat) when setting riggers and dont run too long of leader from ball or you might hook wire on the way down ,another methoud you will perfect with a few tangles...then sit down and get ready for the fun part ......DONT TRY TO LEARN THE DYSPSY IN REAL WINDY WEATHER UNLESS YOUR GOING DOWNWIND,,,SOMETIMES IT COULD BE MUCH FASTER AND SAFER(tangles and motor wraps) TO PULL DYSPYS IN BUMPY WATER BEFORE TURNING INTO THE WIND,,again a learning curve as to what your boat and driver can do....long slow turns is a must so dont try the rigger only turn and PLAN AHEAD WITH OTHER BOATS IN THE AREA ...if you do get a good fish on the riggers be prepared and most time you should relea se dyspys and retreave quickly to keep the rigger mono outa the wire the wire will win 99% of the time and cut off the fish .................................other than that ITS EASY!!!
