nice going tank , we were tring to have some fun here ...............geese...............seems early for fleas but the turky mating was a month early around here (Steuben Cty),the bait in seneca was early (so ive heard) and i had 65 deg on top 2 days ago at 11 am then close to 70 (69.5) by 3 in the afternoon on seneca ......so it coulda been fleas ,, rub a handfull in your eyes and if it hurts and stings like h$ll its probly fleas.

i got my shirts......................................hmmm ill bet most guys who get into these derbys are on this site, too bad their wasnt some way to do a online survay or a Capt. Meeting or Discussion group as to the new rules. I know ya cant keep everybody happy , But as my old Drill Instructer said one day after a few guys in the platoon failed on the rifle range """ due to the actions of a few We all Will pay """with outstreached arms holding our rifles till every bone in our body ached ,,,then we did leglifts , and a few hundred situps....Then he said to ""Get used to in life as we all will pay for the Actions of a Few"".............................. .......................................... .......................................... Everyone did pass the next time on the range... But then again we didnt have the choice to say """"see ya""'' Kinda takes the wind outa the oll sails ,,,Also makes ya long for the days of old when someone says "Thank You" When someone hands you a gift...awe shucks im justa plummer.......(no pun Del)

HUH you buffy fish too!!!! HEH HEH Ps. I have come to like the clear snubbers single or double twisted ,,kinda pricy and they seem like a sallmon would break one but all of mine have held up to fish fights its the kinked or overreleased (nick) wire that tend to get rid of mine,,,,,

good idea on the cores with the steelies soft lips ,,,,,,,if ya think about it a fish 300 ft back sheaking its head is more likly to experiance a little slack at the hook due to the long line ....did ya ever notice you loose more fish in bumpy water with a good rockin boat (unable to keep constant pressure) but with the snubber only 8 ft from the fish it helps keep pressure on the hookset.......................but hey im just a rec fisherman with no clothes.............................. Buffy

Rod's wife has a new pair of shoes
ray koziatek replied to Fishtails's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Hey those are the shoes rod had in jersy ,,,,first lost plug,,,,,,,then pink towel ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,now the shoes,,,,,,yer comming out slow but thats ok ,,,,your welcome to fish. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .from your own boat anytime,, -
snubbers as i was always thouhgt were not so much for the intialshock on the hookup but to act as a buffer to help keep the hooks from ripping lips during the fight (headshake).. with or without a snubber the hookup is the same with proper set equiptment,,as i type this it has occured the ratio of shakeoff on copper during the retrieve is more than my dypsy setup (almost 0) ...............maybe this year ill try a snubber on the copper as far as using them on top or off boards id say dont do it well id say its not needed.......

Thanks for the Reports
ray koziatek replied to Big Dave's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
hey dave ws on the hudson the other night and was awoke with a loud clanking (slept on water) near bank of river next to RR tracks ........................................... ............................. ....................................... .............It was a hudge artifical knee on a single flatbed being towed by 4 engines heading south ............................was that yours??? -
to change the boat names would be one way of getting aroung this rule. Except"BIG weenie"" Now a guy my size running around in a boat named " Big Weenie " Would just be a outright LIE !!!!! (team BUFFY does have a nice ring tho) This post to someone with 1/2 of 1% lick of common sence is only 100% prufe that someone has a little grief with potential sponcers, after waiting 3 months for 2 sponcer packets (never recived) and getting some ugly E mails for trying to speed up getting packets I gave up on my quest to "help" the pro/am's grow after posting and Encouraging as many people to Get into one or more of these great events as i could with this site.. But with that said I think some political correctness (bent noses) has snuck into the new centeralized government of the pro/am folks,,,,,,,,and i ant gonna tow my boat down the road with "BIG WEENIE" "ATOMIC FLY" OR "LOUSER" written on the back ...so maybe the pro/ams is best left to the "PROFFESIONAL" fisherman and for the few "no counts" who enjoyed these derbys as a good time to meet new folks ,share a beer or dinner, and to share the love of fishing with the possiabilty of getting a bigger reward for your day on the water than catching fish (actually place in the derby) might turn into a memory.... Thank You To all the sponcers who have made these derbys special for so many.. Ray K. yea bunch of em on ontario too. Heard their is a natural dieoff after spawning they are a deepwater (cold) fish ,maybe the lower water level had em spawning in warmer water,or a quick lake inversion cought em off guard................never good to see 10000's of such tasty treats going to waste ,unless its after 3 am and youve been cleaning hundreds sence midnight ...The good news is hopefully they all spawned and their should be millions for years too come....If the walleye gourge on em like the salmon in ontario have been their should be some pig residents pulled in this spring..

ray koziatek replied to ray koziatek's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
no pics kinda pudgy but the one bigger one i kept had a empty belly 1 half disolved smelt,, the smaller 2 i kept were healthy looking but no footballs ,but they both had a few fresh smelt in em, The bait balls were tight(line rattlers) so they were being harrased pretty good and 1000's of dead smelt in the scumlines I never saw that before, heard it is a natural dieoff from erie but they didnt look like they were beat up from going over the falls ..I scooped a few and the scales were intack but they all had trama signes to the head either from moderate currents or rigger and fishing lines...I had to of hit 100's of bait balls so much so that i expected my releases to go. -

Tim B I also got 6 with their fins clipped but did not fill out survay if you want to add to form next trip out....Also I dont know if it was just because of my first fresh salmon of the year ,or if they have been gourging on smelt but they are the best tasting salmon i have eaten out of lake O. ever..id be interested to hear from others if you noticed the taste difference..... -

We ll ,Jason,Musky, and myself are plannin for the west end pro ams,,,,if all goes as planned We will be in the area for a few days before the derby (weather permmiting)..so yer welcome to jump on for some prefishing, farting contest, and a good time on the "PEGASUS". I promise their will be NO buffy fishing during this time (still recovering from thurs sunburn ) we will be at olcott ...might even give ya a couple bucks for yer efforts.....I ant the best on the lake but if you want to learn all i know about riggers, stackers, plainerboards, copper, wire, lead, and dypsys that will take up the first 30 sec of the day..if ya want steering lessons from Musky IE: PREPARE TO RAM =PULLIN into the dock (instead of beside it),, how to do tight circles with 600 ft of copper out,, or what is that compass for??? that may take another 30 sec,, and finally if ya want to learn jasons netting secret ................one word on that "DON'T" !!!!! WE WILL BE AT THE 4 MILE STATE park ,you can share our site with tent and enjoy some fine aderondack cooking might even be some lobsters at the dinner table....... Ray K . 607 769 7947 -

"J" called this morning and his stepdad (DAD) passed last nite ...."Lew" has been fightin for the last few day on this earth so it was not unexpected to the family...But as we all know its always a sad time under any conditions.... Ill always remember LEW for his ability to put his thumb on the spool and snap off any fish or lure when his turn on the rod was up.. ....Also a tad bit of trivia on LEW ,for the last 20 plus years he has been kept alive on a artifical heart and if i am right he was the only surviver from this procedure and his "machine" (clicken heart) is to be sent back for research as to why he was the only one who survived so long (most passed around 5 years).........So the reason I share this is LEW was a loving father ,teriffic fisherman, great role model,,, And even in his passing he will contribute to the bettering of many people he will never meet.......................................May God Welcome You With Open Arms LEW !!!!! (and tape your thumbs to your hand) I love jason as a brother and a great fishing partner (cept for his netting abilty)... Ray K. Ps.Im shure all who have fished with this gentle giant (jason) will share my "great fishing partner" remark...and their is a monster steelie swimmin in lake ontario who is happy about his netting style.....(tho Musky might have a different opinion of that derby day)
