Sorry I cant help there shade as i dont have anything to do with the derby other than participate and try to spread the word to others not only to help the derby grow, But to introduce others into a Fun Event they may have of never heard of,not to mention all the great poeple I have meet at the derbys and new friendships formed.....Tho some of them have been spotted latly doing some unheard of things (bring their wifes and GF's to the fishing dept. at bass pro) now we gotta explaine the little price tag thingies arnt what we really spent on our tackle.. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14965

How about a caneing if you get caught everyone bring your stiffest dypsy rod to weighins,,,,,Yes Musky and Fishermen bring your "Snoopy" rods too..It seems kinda ugly to have to bring in outside enforcement ,To a FUN event ,but with the money involved It must be a temptation to some , thats why I like the observer rule it gives you the peace of mind everyone is doing the right thing and keeps the little on our sholder quiet. As of now our team is in for all 4 "Lord Willing" Lets hope the weather gods goof up on the schedual and we get perfect weather for the safty and fun for all involved....... -
Tha t was my thought too sean, ive requested a sponcer packet also to "do my part in helping" And the Arnot Mall Boat Show draws in a lot of smaller dealers who might be interested in promoting the derbys (BIGGER DERBYS BIGGER BOATS) I know of two dealers that would let me share (if possable) some floor space to set up and represent the pro ams a nice tv and pro am video would really keep and get some intreste from the passing crowdes..

yes but if you cheet with either then you can collect your rewards if you dont get caught... if you get caught with the deer it will cost ya 1000.00 to2000.00 fine and loose your hunting priveleges for a few years (major deterent)..get caught cheeting in a derby you loose face ,and money but can still go fishing the next day.. Day of hunting Grouse on a nice winter day "priceless" cost of a cleaned plump chiken at the store 6.00......but i have spent many days behind my 2 springers and wouldnt trade all those prickers ,scratches, missed shots, and time in the woods for a hundred store bought chickens............feeding,vet cost, pooper scooper job,,,,,,,,,,,,uh ill take the chickens now. -
Ditto to dont hit the popup hardware, that was how my wifes credit card got hacked 1 month later we got a 1000.00 western union charge from overseas and the western union number on that site is also a scam...we got our money back but the card is long gone and i still wont use my computer to order stuff as the ghost screen still pops up..

Hey how do you know im a "hair back" you been peeking when im out there buffy fishing? Like i said room is a issue tho ive seen other some smaller boats like yours (18 ft min) particapate. I feel your pain of small boat fishing as my last boat was a 17.5fter. The boat length min. is for safty reasons for all concerned ,due to inclamate weather. In the past weve had some observers pushing 300 lbs so my 22ftr got a little tight too,but for the "excitement and ability to be in the Pro/AM" was worth the loss speed and extra elbows in the side. This year i did buy a smaller pitch prop to ease the strain on the moter (4cyl). So that might be a lesser expensive option for you to consider if getting on plain or speed is a problem with smaller vessels too. Other than that it might be a good reason to go to wiffy and say honey I want to be in the pro ams but need a bigger boat you wouldnt mind would ya, She will give ya her blessings im shure .. hey Im just trying to give you suggestions how to make your first Pro /Am a more enjoyable experience.. As far as the Observer rule for me its all ive ever known as im new to the derbys and just accept it as part of the experience, tho there is a little extra effort needed in lining one up but with the invention of the internet we or you could post your need and usually get the spot filled quick (just dont tell them you got a small boat) ,,,,So after reading this walk right up to the wife put your foot down and TELL her your gonna get a new boat!!!!!....Or do like me buy the boat first and Beg Forgivness,, Thanks for you imput on why you cant get in the derbys as im shure others have simular concerns... So like i said if your on the fence about the Pro/Ams I will try to answer any newbe questions or concerns that i feel comfortable or am able to HELP in any way ....Icemans challange of a small boat is a tuff concern but a doable issue. The worst conditions other than 5 ftrs is rain so if ya plan on Pro Am plan ahead and try to make or buy a top or some sort of encloser to protect ya ,and your observer from the elements... Ray K. (aka hairy back)

back in the day "has been " would of been called a,,,,,, FLAME,,,its just a method that someone uses to keep attention focased on themselfs kinda goes against the grain on a "big" topic then sorta leaves a little dirt on the floor for a follow up bash...next he will reply with a (I didnt mean to say what I did the way i did ) I would never do "x" or "Y" .... Best thing for a "FLAME" is let it run outa fuel so ya just sorta need to Ignore him... RAY K. PS sorry so blunt Has been

Today security cameras at two locations in the Auburn NY area captured several suspicious looking people and thier children. If you can help or identify any or all of them please call 1-800-0u812... above photo is belived to be of kingpin near the trollin section... It appears this will group will go as low as to post the kids as lookouts.. The kingpin tries to get dinner dispite the fact he isnt using his usual bobber style... 3 women watch in horror when king pin stands up and his pants drop to his knees.... It appears they have recuted some of the hottest looking men in NY these guys could make the L.O.U. callender team .. after many hours of thinking security figured out how to get this group outa their store ,with a loudspeaker announcement they said free food to all LOU members in the store at "Chilies" across the street where they were tricked into this photo b,efore they ran out different exits and to freedom.. so if you can please help apprehend them...

ED ,is that like drinking alone or with a friend,,or are you saying you dont wear it when no one is in the boat?(kinda a buffy statment)

get new flares and if you dont have a water proof box just use you vac-sealer to keep dry, seat cushions are acceptable if there in good shape for a small boat for a emergency throw device, better than nuttin, rings are mandatory on larger vessels over a given length (cant recall exact length) do a search....even then it should be hung in a ready acessable place and kept in "new"shape , the ocassion when you need it (and ive seen your cooler netting dance which might mean every trip) will pay off ,,,,,,,also to everyone show your crew where all safty equiptment is and brief instructions how to use the radio, even how to read GPS cord. cause you might be the one in the water hollering " I PUT IT UH UH UNDER THE TACKEBOX UNDER THE POLES UNDER TO COOLER ON THE SEAT NO NO UNDER THE SEAT glub glub"" no clue to what "brand" but it must say "Coast Guard Approved" PS: flares have exp. date check em every year as with all safty equipt. that 10 year old fire extuisher "on red" ant gonna do much good if you ever need it i carry 2 on board ..another Important item to show the crew and brief how to point at BASE OF FLAMES ...... I RECOMEND OFTEN HERE EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE A ''''''''POWERBOATING SQUADRON COURSE'''''''' they are cheep and one step below a captians course in boating safty, charting, navagation,RULES OF THE ROAD(or water) ,roap knots ,DOCKING (without saying prepare to ram bob)...and a whole lot of common sence stuff ...and they help the winter pass a little quicker and ya meet some great folks who share the passion of safe boating........even WAFI's will be there. opps POWERSQUADRON BOATING COURSE

my suggestion would to be ,,go to the old well pull the hand pump, grab ye som hay string tie the pump tight in the corner of the boat and pump when needed..

HMM ,let me try to understand this,,up at 0500 load the sled in the truck, get the bait (probly 10.00) drive to the ice after spilling half the bait in the truck, drag 200 lbs of equiptment to the secret "BLUEGILL" spot ,find the one minnow thats still alive and fight over whos gonna get the GOOD bait.,, put down the camera with a bright light after grinding a hole in the ice ,and see their is no fish then begin to fish for 10 hrs not counting clearing holes ,freeing up tipups, hey its only -1deg right now lets get out there before it warmes up and melts the ice ..........bluegills? ----------or a excuse to get away from the honey doo list !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YEA Iknow about the small boat at 22ft(mine) it does get a little tight , and heading out the shoot looking up at the waves from the other boats does rock the boat a tad(kinda like when musky goes to his can corner),but rain or shine and sometimes 5 ft waves are the side effects of fishing on given weekends or days.. We have fished in weather that would be termed as "not fun" but thats "DERBY fishing" and that 1 or 2 derbys a year when the weather is perfect makes up for it when the crew can relax.......... . . . . .

ok thats a start but the open division has been started for those who cant afford a observer, but when your in a derby with such tight guidlines and the temptation to "make a error" in your favor sometimes a observer is needed...and when the purse "could" go to max with a (full field) even more temptations might be happining,, finding a observer is part of the fun of the derby and adds to the morning tension each day,,and over the 3 year history of our new found fun we even had a female observer 3 times..............HEY WAIT DO YOU THINK THE EVENT ORGANIZERS THINK ME AND OLE MUSKYBOB ARE HARMLESS (darn bob i said blue pills not water pills give me the can next)... if you guys need to find observers each port (event) usually has a list of people who sign up to be a observer ,their is NO COST for these observers but we do normally "tip" the observer for their time..
