  1. Break em all...wait they could be the mercury ones OMG call the hazmatte crew... if chad really cared he would use LED,s less energy and further the need not to put big fans on the lake ,they could hurt the camorant population or kill a few seagulls after all that was one of the biggest protest of the locals (killing birds) . Im shure all the bird watchers who spend millions a year to use state land we hunt and the water we fish ,would make a hudge impact on the economy then all the upkeep and income would come from fishermen and hunters....and we dont really count.
  2. Todd, keep the flint for survival fires ,I shoot a tompson and i think most any muzzy will do ya good if you match the load to the powder weight , There is something neat about "loading" your gun the old way with a ram rod and knowing you only have 1 shot to do the job .....It has improved me as a hunter and i have droped more game with the one shot mentality in the last 6 years ..So if the muzzy you check out looks good (inspect the barrel for proper cleaning) and shoots good (be shure to have a good experianced muzzy person with you).... most poeple who popoo the muzzys accuraccy are doing something wrong..at 100 yds you should be hitting a clay pigion 4 outa 5 shots ..pm or call if ya got questions ,cant help from one brand to another but i can get you in the kill zone at 100 yds over the phone.
  3. STAN, You posted this under the wrong section even tho we dont have a "family forum" it should be under "open dissucion"....Sometimes as we get up there in years the best part of life is our memories, some good, some bad ,But you got a lot of good uns there. Pile them on top and the rocking chair will bring a smile to your face,,,,,focus on the less pleasent ones and the frown will appear.. Yes this big ball we live on has circled the sun at 3000 mph many a time sence you pooped (opps poped) outa mom . Im shure every generation has pondered the same question as your last sentance, all we can do is do our part to try to "pass the torch of life and values" to the next generation as you just did .. So for that I THANK YOU ,and many who you have handed off little flames to will remember your wisdom ,tho they may never walk to your door and say "thanks man for that"..."PEACE" of mind should be with you now ,Real "HOPE" is with us all,,,,"LOVE "is what you do for others and "JOY" is what you should feel knowing you have done YOUR part. so PEACE,HOPE,LOVE,JOY IS THE MESSAGE OF CHRISTMAS.....and ya done good from what i just read, so creak that rocker with a smile on your face, and when you flop on your back looking at the stars you will be smiling (unless you flop in a pile of dog poop )............. So in the new way of speaking "back at ya on the Christmas wishes!!! "
  4. Thats Wonderful news from the yanks, Tell him the boys on the site said HI!!Now put some fish slime on yer hands and give him a wiff......Just be shure to tell him it wasnt the nurse...
  5. TURN OFF ALL THOSE STUPID LIGHTS ON A DARK MOONLITE NIGHT,Lay on your back and look at the stars ,And remember the "True Meaning Of Christmas"...
  6. good going matt ..now that papa spilled the beans how about a little story ??? sorta like this my first year hunting alone (16) i was walking down the "new pipeline" behind moms.It was getting a little towards dark and my pace was that more than usual for hunting. But due to the new grass and lack of leaves i was quiet for my speed. Half way down the hill i looked to my right and there stood a small 4 pt drinking from a small waterhole from recent rains, after not beliving i was facing my first buck for the first time (not a tail running away) .I paniced and reacted in the same thought .i raised the gun and shot (40 yds) .Istood there amazed that the deer was still standing even more so it continue to drink as if ,not as much as a leaf was ruffled.I pump in another shot and put another dead eye bead on him as he raised his head ..Totally focused on the kill zone I squeeze the trigger for the second time and he drops like a ton of bricks (neck shot). So in reality i missed the aim for spot for the second time due to that dreaded disease "BUCK FEAVER" ..well in those days i didnt have a pocket knife to gut it so after looking over"MY FIRST DEER" EVER checking out everything from its rack to its hooves ,I drag it to the bottom of the hill with no rope or gun sling..Once i got to level ground the drag was getting pretty tuff so i do the only thing i knew at the time ,I pick it up around my neck like a "deer scarf" holding its leggs with one hand and my gun in the other the 1/2 mile walk home seemed effortless dispite the added weight to my small at the time frame (99lb wrestling weight)..After telling mom and dad my mighty tale of my first buck ,They said almost at the same time how DUMB it was to carry out the deer on my shoulders ,a thought that never entered my youthfull brain 36 years ago..ahh yes my first shotgun 16 ga ithaca hand me down model 37 that couldnt put a slug in the same hole in a hundred shots but she droped many rabbits ,grouse and squirrels..Before "MY FIRST BUCK"......Thanks AL Olmstead for my first gun...its still im my case.. ...(see what we mean when we say youll never forget that first BUCK!!)
  7. if they put em low enuf we could troll through the blades kinda like the blades on a minature golf course,,and it might sharpen the skills of some of those people who "own" the lake...or elimanate them ....as tom said the biggest drawback for wind is a backup system on the calm days or excessive windy days (i think) . also the skyline of any big city is visable for miles .we all are recomended to use mercury lighting,if anyone has ever taken one of these bulbs apart they contain a compteate circuit board (more electronic waste).. if all the highrises used LED lights they could reduce usage by 95%,, and as pretty as the lights in the cleavand buildings are i dont see much use for them to be lit up at 3 am when im driving by at 60mph,, and you cant really see them at ground level near the buildings. A little common sence and energy conservation would eleminate the need for any new massive projects... but as i say "HEY IM JUSTA PLUMMER".....And in 3 to 5 years when the billions of mercury bulbs go bad I wonder where they will go hmmm ,can you say new "supercleanup projects" or ship em to india for the kids there to dissamble for pennies a day. How about installing water turbines at the outlets of current coal and nuke plants, and extending the outflows 1000 more ft so we can fish them again, many small streams and rivers have enuf flow in ny state to install "old mill style " wheels without disrupting the fish in them with dams..and im shure if the hot water discharge was to flow through heat exchangers ,that hot water could heat 1000 homes near the plant expecially helpfull in areas with no nat gas lines and people use heating oil multiply that by 15000 (justa guess) power plants and now your saving some oil ,,,5 gal per day x 1.5 million homes "But im justa plummer" ..or dummer yet how about 100lbs of heat absorbing ceramic heat cells heated by a exhast bypass systen in cars when you get home just hook a small vent and resuse the heat from your trip home to heat the house for a bit or help.. how about a tax on peoples 10,000 sq ft retirement homes when there is only 2 people and a few pets living in them...I grew up in a 1200 sq ft home with 8 family members and im almost normal.Well now that ive exposed my dummer side i better go chase some turds.................Hmm hot air accumulators over washington , to reduce global warming ,Opps Sorry Al.
  8. Hey those would make some nice stinger hooks..................................................for downrigger balls..might drag up a few dypsys ......or bodies.. in August and early september when i see the local kids going down the salmon river on tubes and floats I shudder ..

  15. dont expect much of a story yet from jerry hes been living in a tree stand for the last 60 days and has lost most human communication skills ,,his wife says his grunts, bleats, and bird calls are starting to resemble those of human sounds,..she said he is starting to use the toilet again tho he still has to pearch on the side of the tub and hasnt mastered the skill of sitting on the seat .She said dinners have been much quicker without the need to cook his meals as he eats the meat raw now..he hasd been attracted to the garage door opener pushing the buttons and he seems to be able grasp the "no shiney" end (handle)of a screwdriver , so we'll have wait for the annual evaloution from hunter to human... comon jerry were waiting.....
