Well if i had a super secret spoon i would share it(not). But have found over the years all 8 or more importintly the hours fished over 6000,that the Hot spoon has to match the conditions cold water, pea green water, clear water, early morning, bright days, cloudy days, afternoonbite, and evening bite, flat surface, choppy surface,1 ftrs ,4 ftrs ,then toss in depth of water the fish are in,and temps, then are you after browns, steelie, kings, and yes landskark WALLEYS,.....have i forgot the 3-s's speed speed speed...many of us run a mixed spread (spinnys and spoons) so ya gotta have the right weight spoon to match the speed needed for the spinnies..i have and do run all the listed spoons listed and maybe a few more,,tho is you run a spread of one spoon all year you will get fish all year ,its the fine tuning of the spoon to speed and conditions that may be a better thought, also a slight bend in a spoon can kill or add to the action check em over the side before deploying each time only takes 5 sec a small splitshot 6 ft up the line in heavy flea conditions can help keep the line end of the spoon clean and running proper .. so for the newer guys a good spoon selection is important but there are a lot of little things to keep in mind that will make a difference of a good day to a great day.... and dont forget the 3 S's

Well i took another skull to Scott this time my indiana buck.. He is the kinda guy who offers you a beer (or soda) when you enter his shop, listens and shares hunting ,trapping storys and is a Good Down To Earth Guy... after my bear (not bare) experience last year i took the skull to him and He (and his bugs) did a awsome job to preserve my memory of that hunt. For around 100.00,,,, ill try to dig up the photo of the skull he did for me. As those of you that know me if im happy (and im kinda fussy) with a service ill let the board know ,and if someone or thing dont deliver I post that Too!!!!!! Im Getting a little worried i might have to do a little Heads Up BASHING of the place i took my hide to to get a rug made but hopefully that Wont be another post....... so if ya wanne see the bugs in action, get a memory of a lifetime preserved professionaly check out http://www.barebonesandbugs.com The photo gallery he has does no justice to the finished product (sorry scott ya ant no photo expert) they are way cooler in your hands and up close ..

Its a course on how to drink a 6 pack and stiil dock your boat without hollaring "PREPARE TO RAM"...6-PACK is a short term used to define a lower grade "Captians License" still qualifys you to become a charter up to 6 pass, its a good starter course in all the "rules of the road" needed to start a charter service. Ithink they even teach you the boat proceding from starboard is the stadon vessel and the boat to the port is giveway vessel... some times that seems to be the tuffest part "some " captians learn.or remember.............ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I,ve stayed at Captians cove hotel a few times and even spent more than 3.00 in there "tackle shop" ..They are some great people who respond as quick as their suppliers ship to the request of the fishermen and the "hottest lures"..in addition they have some downrigger parts , reels (good ones),bait, small boat rentals, dockage, gas, and wi/fi in the rooms(was a little fussy but they assured me they were working on that). So if you like driving your boat to the dock(their is a low bridge with about a 8ftsh clearance ),gassin up, hitting a well stocked tackle shop, walking 100ft to your room, and relaxing for the night "Captians cove" is your place ...oh they also have 2 large freezers to stash your catch, and a nice little pavilion with grills if you want to have a cookout after your "DAY AT THE OAK"

a coyote attacked (5) a hunter 3 or 4 yrs back in odessa ny as he was gutting his buck , he fought em off went to hospital got 85 stiches (bow hunting) that afternoon after he got home he got his shotgun snuck back to the carcass and droped 2 and wounded a 3rd on his deer. There is a pack of 4 or 5 near where i hunt 15 min after dark they sing for about a min. most every nite, makes the hair on my back stand up and ive ripped three good hunting shirts with my backhair.

Rick, with that said from a son of a not well dad i did cancel my proam weekend against my dads wishes ,to be there...Lord willing there will be more pro ams for me,and hunting seasons for you. Buffy

Rick, Im not shure what your planes are for your hunting trip this year are ,after the accident your Dad had. As a father myself, and recently dealing with a near tragity with my Dad , I offer you some insite How We (ME and Dad) would respond. I would tell my son, if i could, to go and have as good of time as possable hunting and bring me home some deermeat. My dad would share the exact same words to me. Sometimes sitting in the woods is a good time for some time alone, and time of reflection of the years shared. So if you planed to cancel this years hunting trip please don't ,go get one for "pops" ....And if you planned to go , as a father and a son of a loving father "I" would give you my blessings ,tell you to have a good as time as you can and "BRING ME HOME SOME VENISON" and i'll see ya in a week.(and you better fill my tag too!) With my thoughts and prayers Ray (buffy) Koziatek

Chowie,I use the small 1" hole broadheads, they pass through "EVERYTIME" unless you smoke the shoulder. And i only have a 27.5" arrow (less kinetic energy) and shoot a old 220fps bow. I can kill a target at 40 yds tho sometimes a 17 yd big buck will make the arrow fly off course (cant be me and buck feaver) ..hit em in the right spot and you dont need a 5in hole...double lung a doe one time with a fieldpiont and see how far it goes and if any blood comes out the tiny hole...if i see more on closeout (end of season) in ohio ill pick up 5 or 6 packs 3 for 8.00 per pack. what weight 100 gr. ?

Well, Im home. First and formost the worst part of the trip was reading the disturbing report of "YANKEE TROLLER SR." I cant imagine the pain the family is going through and ive seen the Love and friendship between Rick and his dad their not only father and son ,but fishing buddies ,probly hunting buddies, and friends..Rick again my prayers are with your family, and let this be a reminder to us all that life is a gift and enjoy every minute cause we dont know what tomorrow will bring. Well day one 2 min. after getting up my tree i hear the challanging steps of a buck aproaching in the dark to see what just walked in his woods. I could see in the before shooting light it was a nice tall 10 pt at 15 yds ,I watched him walk away deciding if i would take him later after leagle shooting light. Now if you can imagine sitting in a 65 acre patch of woods that contain 60 to 100 deer it was a easy decision. So after first light ive got several 8 pts ,spikes and does every where ..I know from talking to the land owner there are several "smashers " on the property but have already made up my mind to take the first respectable buck ..as we trophy hunted last year (150 or better) and ate "tag soup"..them big boys will get locked down with a doe and sometimes not be seen at all. After enjoying 2 hrs of watching the heard ,a nice 11 pt passes 7 yds from my stand heading straight away giving me plenty of time to size him up. At 60 yds i make up my mind and try to turn him with a light "baa" (sheep talk) he stops but no turn and the texas bullseye (ass) was not a shot i considered , walking at the pace of a cayote it was 80 yds when i give him a second "BAA" he stops for 1 second and gives me a slight quartering away shot then resumes the "i dont like the open" pace..Now im getting mad that he dont wanna play with me so at 100 yds i give him the oll BAAAAAAAAAAAA ,loud enuf to be heard 2 miles away ,and he gave me "the look" but no more turn so i put the crosshairs back a little in squeezed the smoke pole trigger.... the wind wind was strong enuf to clear the smoke before the slug hit,,,He did the good shot hump and went into a full run, and at 20 yds he stumbles but continues another 20 before pileing up....In 2 hrs my 365 days of anticapation a monster was over ,less the monster. But a respectable 3.5 yr old 215 lb 11 pt it only scored 132 and was a good one to "remove from the heard"..As any hunter knows when a deer that size goes down that fast its a good heart shot and it was dead center.. After giving him his "spiritual last meal " and thanking God for this trip and this deer ,I 2nd guess this early shot but remember the oll saying of a long distance trip hunter "Never pass on the first day what you would shoot on the last" pluss the land owner asked to remove a couple does from the heard so the hunt wasnt over.(i needed one for muskys birthday present).. Well 1 of 4 of us came home with 3 deer tho 1 new guy choked at 30 yds on a 150 plus, another got some great video of a 160 class but never put the camera down to pick the gun "no buck feaver there"..And my best friend ole "dead eye" blew a 40 yd shot at a nice 8ptr His famous Quote of his lucky hat (dweeb hat) and i dont take anything but neck shots will go next year. (i hope) I never took one pic of the deer but head is home and ill try to get a good pic for ya .......Ray K.
