  2. hope all your wishes and dreams come true.....................ok cut the crap more we want more walleye reports .......Hava great day Capt. John, and thanks for all the post, you have helped my previous non existent walley fishing turn into some great meals and lots of fun (even got some late sept buffy fishing wanna see pics?) maybe sunday the wind will let me play...out there.
  3. YES ! WE DID IT WE HOOKED ANOTHER ONE!!! Winter tips will follow including "Jigging for Browns" in the bathroom...stay tuned..
  4. 2.5 setting with spinny on wire 30lb 350 ft out .....dont go by the dypsy chart it ant right ,i ant no expert but ive been on the water over 2000 hrs in the last 2.5 years and 50% of the time i got dypsys down the other 50% is time ive wasted reeling in fish on them ,oh 2.2 to 2.4 mph down speed the 3 to 1 ratio with wire is pretty close, actually it dives deeper than that like 210 on the wire will hit 80 to 90 ft bottom ive cleaned enuf zebras off the hooks to prove this ..All i try to do is help folks on this site and any where i can i dont post bs when it comes to fishing (tho ive been known to toss in a funny now and then) i remember the basic learning days like they were yesterday and want to help others get into the fish faster....BUT WITH that said every trip out ima still learning and gots a long ways to go thats what keeps me comming back to the pond...One of these days me and the big boy will meet face to fin (i hope),....oh dont forget every reel is not the same or accurate the dypsy reels i have know i have measured up to 300 ft with full spool in front of ny house with 10 ft accuracy so i recomend everyone do the land work before you do the testing on the water(just dont run it across the road darn busses) P.S. if you bust on me anymore ill post another tip to help anyway i can I will never missguide anyone when it comes to fishing or hunting ( unless its during a Pro Am )
  5. Mark i think the salmon should be mounted as in the first pic i think you would look pretty good on the wall holding the fish, might cost yer ole lady a few more bucks ,but at least shell know where you are all the time
  6. nnnnnnnnnooooooooooo me first i called it first i just dont wana go out at night with frost on the windshield to catch em.
  7. I use the #1 s gets to 120 fow and dont bend the rod like a noodle...But ive got 5 or 6 mags ill sell ..
  8. Iknew that musky fishing was easy.....
  9. Now ya got landshark in walleye mode hide the walleyes.
  10. Don't get too discouraged if you don't do well if you see the reports its a tuff time of the year ,But you ant gotta chance sitting home thinking about it ,be shure to watch the weather reports ...nuttin worse than driving many hours and watching 6 ftrs from shore ill post a pretty good site ... http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/data/raw/fz ... glf.lo.txt be shure to refresh site
  11. Ok i had the map upside down ,I went to the musky school of map reading..
  12. Ill start putting slow disolve corks in there butt, this should have a twofold effect bigger fish and later spawning..
  13. This time of year the bent hook syndrome does occure the most, but with hundreds of salmon ive landed over the years i have only only lost a few to bent hooks.. Sounds more like user error (tight drag and heavy line) ,im not trying to be negative just trying to help you get more fish to the boat ..I use atomic,siggs,big-weenie,and nk flys with maybe 1 in a hundred bent hooks so lighten up (drag) and line size and enjoy the fight ..
  14. Getting a little late for the salmon but if there are any bass they should be in 15 to 40 fow just west of the chute to 3 milesish in front of maxwell creek bring some minnows and get have some fun..And if ya got a flat day on the lake turn right outa the chute and take a ride 1 to 3 miles east to see chimney bluffs there pretty cool up close ,and if its too windy you should take a land ride down there and walk the upper path along the bluffs..:just dont drive too close to shore there are some big outdrive eaters 20 fow should be safe...if you go by water....oh and im not shure of the road if your leaving sodus(going south) take the first main intersecting road to the left(east) and there is a little baked food stand (yellow) on the left no more than 20 min from sodus if you want some great goodies and local produce its a must stop for me (and Muskybob) when were near there. Ray K,
  15. UH LOOKS LIKE FISH FROM THE PHOTO ,And how do you know there sterile "little one"....?? are the walleye talking to you? Maybe there pumping iron 5 times a day.Or the grouth hormones are tricleing down the food chain..Looks like a diehard fisherman ,someday ill set the buffy salmon record arrgh! i can feel in in me blood!!
  16. with all said above being of good advise ,I might suggest you start looking for a dual axil trailer for that size of boat i ant no expert buy my last boat had a single axil trailer and at 65,70 mph you better have both hands on the wheel my bigger boat with dual axil can go down the road at 75 all day and no ill effects are felt in the wheel or vehicle (well i gotta stop for gas on ocassion) even if the trailer is rated for your boat its gotta be pushing it a tad ,plus the next rusted or weak spot ant gonna show up in the driveway ,it will happen on a well planed trip with 3 friends looking forward to a day of fishing ,not sitting along the road guarding your boat when you go for help....plus they might make a "tackle sale" sign while your gone and buy beer.
  17. iv been driving around looking for the sale ,,Im ready for clue #2 maybe a county?
  18. Yoda ,i wasnt saying pull your riggs and go home but most occurances can be avoided and most charters have the common sence to work with you ..I dont mind swinging a little off course for anyone and will try to give the charters their waypoints , now if you want some real fun go to the hudson in may on a weekend ,after that ontario at the moulth of the salmon river on labor day will seem like open water...
  19. Dude welcome to the site many of us visit this site infrequently ,except in the morning ,coffee break, lunch ,coffee break, and before and after supper.....Now if you post too many pearch tips you might get met at the launch by the "pearch police" but many here would enjoy your post and tips... oh WELCOME HOME!!!
  20. Good thing Kremer brought some bananna nut bread to eat for such a slow day..
  21. Way to go girl you tell dad what needs to be done while you reel in the fish, Good thing you brought him along it would of been tuff for you to net such a big fish alone.. ,,next time sit back and let him reel in one so he dont feel so bad..You are a good part to a good fishing team ,I think you should fish the Pro/Ams next year with him he always needs some one like you to help.. Ray K.
  22. looks like a poor net job to me.............
  23. WELL you ant the first ,but the boat proceding from starboard has the right of way,any course you take to avoid collision is permitted by law if your the "give way" vessel even if it means driving 20 ft off his stern (coast guard ruling and law) BUT WITH THAT SAID Try To avoid such a close encounter at all cost by slowing ,turning earlyier, pay attention and as hard as it is sometimes if your getting squeezed sometimes slowing almost stopping is the best recourse you have....If you see planer boards behind any boat give lots of room as they are pulling copper or longline leadcore. AND WITH THAT SAID Some charters are running without first mate and may have been setting rods or helping clients with fish on ,running on autopiolet.....always Give the charter guys room as they are "Working" to earn a living for their family.....AND WITH THAT SAID some people just plain ole OWN THE LAKE AND NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO YOUR WRONG!!!! Also keep in mind some people out there have no clue to the "U.S.Coast Guard Navagation Laws" as it is not required to take any type of coures to drive a boat...in N.Y. waters (except PWC's) I have suggested many times everyone take at min a"Power Squadron Boating Class " It will give you a redection in inshurance rates and what you learn may save yours or someone elses life some day.....I know if your doing everything by law and right and this still happens it can spoil a good trip (happened to me at the oak this year with 2 charters ) even tho i have it on film i ant gonna go no further with it and was P.M.ed and called by several people and they knew the exact 2 boats that pulled the crap so you ant the first person to encounter battle on the high seas.... i truley feel your emotions IF you were in the right.. Ray K.
