  4. if i take my boat in salt water for a week with I/O 22ft alum is there any major issues to be aware of other than the obvious 2 day soap scrubdown ....? Thanks Ray K.
  5. cant see the sunrise with them poles in the way ....that area is good for the rest of the summer if you want to play try a nice sutton 44 hammered brass/silver program in that area early in the day...wont be fast and furious like the laker program but youll get some nice suprises if the fish are playing
  6. hey matt ,looks like your picking the 2 best places in NY to fish. Ive been doing the Hudson for over 10 yrs so i might have a tip or two to tell ya , my ontario program still needs some work but youll pick up plenty of info from others on this site ,but ive been known to throw in my 2cents or is that 2scents ,,,.phew ... welcome to your new past time the L.O.U.
  7. i tried some about 4 years ago that i got from a industrial supplier it lookes the same as the stuff i saw at captians cove the other day i did wear it out in one season freyed at several places it was a soft 19 strand stainless just like the new applaction stuff you can buy now.my power pro dypsy rods have 7 year line on them and my 7 strand is on its 4th season other than missing a kink recently i havent broke the 7 strand yet ,,,,,,NOW NICK DID TRIPPING A DIPSY WITH ALL HIS STRENGTH.
  8. to elaborate a little on "g'"s answer the slider consist of a 6ftish length of 15 or 20 lb test line with a snap swivel on each end.after setting rigger and tighting down rod tip a little put lure on one swivel take the rod out of the holder so you can get to the lineattach the other swivel to the line.you can lay the lure in the water and sorta feed out the 6 ft line then let go of swivel and it will sink with the lure somewhere to the bow in your line.some people hook to the line and toss the lure gently out to the side but some tomis the lure will hook one the slider line or get a little messed up so ya gotta pull rig and start over (the tangle only happens in derbys ,or when the rigger is 140 ft out,or ruff weather ) then you set the rod back in holder finish tighting down and sit back and wait.........after the hit some people fly to the rod reel like crazy to take up slak and fight the fish,i like to lay back watch the fish dance on the line and release and take up th slak on its own due to the fact most slider hits are steelies and i enjoy watching them fly out of the water on there own. also smaller or lighter spoons are the most preferred slider spoons as they tend to flutter and go crazy with a little chop
  9. dont forget the !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'s
  10. push the weather channel button and i think 1 and 3 will come in ant but about 8 of them ,68,72,7,10, are pretty standard throughout the lake.or you can start chitchating on channel 16 like the blowboats do till the coasties chew yer butt ... but monitering 16 is a good thing all the time in your scan memory
  11. i belive longline or some other fish guy said about 45% nat reproduction
  12. GB coper can be a chalange enuf between 2 dypsys on a narrow boat not to mention the extra tug you get fighting a fish,id be a little concerned the diver might pull you to one side or another expessely on turns when you get the best of tangles in good conditions (so ive been told) but im not too familuar with them running true . the bigger flashers might work but will add a lot of drag to a already pulling rig .. and are usually run slower which could hurt the rest of the spread. If the fishing is great thats when i break out the expermintal riggs that i try and dont tell anyone but if it slow or normal run the spinnys ,and stuff you have confinence in ...
  13. The sign on the boat says "angler survay" ...why did they pull you over? Shes got a grip on that fish like Lorena Bobbitt on her husband......aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaHHHHHHHHHHHH! just the thought of it all .....
  14. abought 10 bucks for shipping on the extra box how many boxes you want.

  17. your were saying "open the lense cover" or holy s#@t hurry up another rigger is screaming.
  18. P.S. stan the flip flop laying next to the steelie is 12 in long so you can figure the length from that ,,,released, got several in that size but release at side of boat ,the little king took a 425 ft run thought i had a big one for a min.or ten reeling it in sometimes those 14lb class really want to play.(didnt weigh so i could get back in water faster) i carefully drag in water for a few minutes till revived on the rope just lifted its head for a photo. theother 2 are a couple i got from my secret spot just a tad south of where i was fishing that day.
  19. Here Stanley i took a couple of photos for ya next time ill bring the video.
  20. Thank you for your offer on how to catch fish ,Im kinda new at the Lake ontario fishing programs but have a lot to learn on different ways to get the big boys to bite. Sorry if my response posed you or trout one as newbe's but ive only done a few pro ams and despite all the chatter in the room (at capt and observer) meetings i sit in front to hear any changes or new rules to help make shure i get it right (kinda tuff being polish) . Thanks again for your offer to help my (our teams) fishing program, your professional attitude and willingness to share info is a good thing for the PRO AMS
  21. opps little better photo also these are some for me so i wasnt too fussy about the finished product ,also I use Plastic dip rubberized paint 5 coats seems to hold up well.
  22. In my spare (not fishing) time I can whip up a few of these. I bend the tail just a tad on mine to pull to the outside for port and starboard sides on my boat. the mold says 10 lbs but actual weight runs 10 lb 6 oz give or take a oz. they run with less blowback than balls and the shape I belive does help with bringing fish to the spread specially with the added eyes. $35.00 plus shipping each. They will fit into the one rate boxes which are about 10.00 shipping cost. Also 2 will fit into same box with packing to help with shipping cost. I am experminting with a 12 lb model havent ran it yet but will keep informed of results...
  23. Capt. Carl,my back still hurts from tossing in and retriving your 3 30" trolling bags to get you under 7 mph. Cosider your first lesson FREE ....speed, speed, speed ....your people skills is next ,giving the new guy on your boat a "purple nurple"in front of everyone just ant right..
