ray koziatek replied to BP Swing's topic in Tackle and Techniques
I wish I lived closer to the pond..this spring when I sold my boat and over 100 rods and all tackle (almost) I couldnt give up my dypsys ...1 for 1 they were the best catching rod and i can run em outa a row boat if needed... If they ain't working yer doing something wrong....Thought pink ladies were mini boards? -

Paul you left out during August as the molecular density of the water decreases . That was always the main reason I did that , But only during the phasless period on a Southeast Inversion...Trolling South... Kinda Obvious to some but others need to be reminded.. hope this helps.. BaldEagle

It baffles my mind to see the type of advice given to someone asking questions,,,,guess i lernt nuttin in over 20 yrs on L.O. .....Their are so many things to take in account. tepms, currents, sun /clouds,direction of troll, species, water color, time of day (sun angle) ..and for the guy who moves off 12lb fish so they can only catch big ones I will hire you for the next 5 years during the pro ams at 1,000.00 a day ..... So what I am saying you really need to work 1/on 1, with a good captian or charter even then what worked out of his boat might be dead on your rig.... Hmm maybe some of us old farts should start a new service..If I wasn,t so busy i would be there to help..ya.

Problem with Cannon Dual Axis Rod Holders
ray koziatek replied to Captain Carl Bish's topic in Tackle and Techniques
ohh gettin fun, One of the beauties of a site with over 10,000 fishermen is ya get honest feed back on a product when its "Junk" or if its "Good" .... My brother has much experiance with over seas mfg. some times he will send back 30,000 bike rims that dont meet his standards.. even if every one on that order is spoken for...his motto is Quality first...after you refuse a $200,000.00 order one or twice you would be amazed at the quality on future orders even from China. This usually happens on a new change first run where the overseas supplier miss calculates the engineers prints....But with that said the Mfg. who puts their name on a product would do well by standing behind their products ....Michigan Stinger Lure Paint might stir a ppost or two. -

Ahh ,got my fix for the year. Sodus Pro Am was my first Pro/Am years ago...then We were in the (old A/m's) were ya needed a observer.Times have changed and a few rules too but over all it was a GREAT derby. What makes a derby GREAT : Good Weather. : Organized. : Meeting some of the best fishermen on the lake. : Meeting old friends. : Meeting New Friends. : Town and sponsors ,who want the Derby there. : Changing fishing conditions. : Good Weather. : Town And Sponsors Who WANT The Derby There. Yes I repeated a couple , because its nice for everyone to feel welcomed to the community, with great resturants in walking distance (end of the dock) or very short drive, from many great nearby slips. The new A/M rules are great and offer many new teams to "Get Their Feet Wet" in derby fishing..and no one will argue with good weather. Changing conditions currents, bait and fish location, and lure selection can Humble the best of fisherman and keeps it from being a "Runaway derby" and levels the playing field. If I didn't have to sell my boat I would of been searching my mind as the Captian did on the boat I Observed on due to changing conditions they took 3rd ,lost a fish 2 ft from the net that would of put them in 2nd and the loc board (biggest brown i have ever seen 16-20 lbs) and had a few diver hits that wern't no dinks. 1 or 2 fish can make a big deal on the leader board...Thank for the great time "Cannonball Runner" and crew. Now that i have become a armchair fisherman again (no boat) it still is hard to get the Sodus Pro/AM outa my blood. The $1000.00 a day derby put some smiles on a few folks too. I hope that was a option they can keep going also... Now that I am getting up in years, have seen my childhood friends depart from this world well before their time and have creaks and grones from my own body, Take this advise from a aging man: Get a team assembled and get yer self into a Pro/Am derby next year. It is a Great Time and will test yer skills and ya even will learn some too.. Hats off to the new organizers of the Sodus Point Pro/Am.

it can only happen as stated ,by stopping to fight another fish,or on the drop(ya have to be moving also)..your just dropping to fast . I have seen the blacks do a single spin when not properly deployed ,but several wraps is something yer doing wrong your line should Always have some blowback even if yer holding a tight line putting it out (best way) ain't ne current gonna wrap yer line that much, unless yer sitting under a water spout.
