  1. now ya gotta just add water
  2. 65lb power pro next question (put a swivel bead at end to stop slider then add 6 to 10 ft mono to attach final lure swivel) mono will work but a lot of streach to pop dyp.
  3. the lure drag does more to get out than gravity maybe there too tight (straight out for good pull)get em back a bit and thell work fine
  4. if you wanna go again for gas money a day trip will do or a 2 day and get a 70 a nite cabin at koa,not weekends too busy and we need to play the weather game it ant no fun fighting wind and waves
  5. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10924 here is a link as a lot of us dont view the bass section ,if you ever need a new fish trip for your bucket list striped bass in the hudson should be near the top...........
  6. what no onion rings? 28 hrs straight oh to be young again.
  7. rick we gave the gulp a try for about 10 fish (on bloods) and we trolled for 15 min too! couldnt stand the action on either (nada) guess in the river they like the real stuff . maybe a day trip is in order on your boat if i can bring my little rods and reels and worms?????? http://www.stripedbassderby.com/cgi-bin/reports.pl
  8. The way it used to be was enter the kids in the all in price .they can still place in the youth div,(lake trout only) but if they reel in the big one then they can be eligable for the grand prize.AND ALL THE OTHER CLASS OF FISH.
  9. HERE ARE A FEW SHOTS OF OUR RECENT TRIP
  10. looks like the hudson river screen over stripped bass, keep heading to the oak boys!
  11. If my son wants in ill be trailering to severn for the derby not as much fun as staying at the lake but the 45 min run makes it a dooable . 68 seems to be the chatter channel . PEGASUS is the boat name.
  12. IM back ! Happy belated birthday chad .what do they call you for short. Cha ? Hope you got that nice new RED CAR you were lookinG for from UNCLE JERRY. Not the compacted version either.
  13. For proper photo YOU should always hold the fish .(just so we know its you).and if you ever need any fishing tips you can just hop on ol Ray,Rays boat we will make room for you.(musky overboard oppsy sorry bob) here take bobs seat.
  14. Hey Capt. Sean ,I see you put all my hot tips to work, just wish i remembered what they were ! (Hint Hint) I had a box of white spinnies i kept moving outa way to get to the colors that didnt work ,boy my raw skill went out the window on that one.Now you can justify spending the money for the Parker.(see honey if i didnt buy the bigger boat we would of never placed). As you stated everyone should give a shot at some of the Lake Ontario Derbys . AND WHAT EVER YOU DO FOLKS MAKE SHURE ALL PEOPLE ON YOUR BOAT ARE REGESTERED IN THE LOC DERBY IF ONE IS GOING ON AT THE SAME TIME AS THE PRO/AM'S OR SCOTTY OR ANY OF THE OTHER DERBYS YOUR IN ,HECK ANY TIME YOU FISH THE LAKE DURING THE LOC'S THE BEST WAY TO CATCH THE BIG ONE IS IF SOMEONE IN YOUR BOAT IS NOT REGESTERED. (whew thought that was my bout in the pic with green port light) GREAT JOB in such brutal conditions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. just a tad different water comming in that is my abacis on top for counting fish thanks Capt.Bill Great Job on your results ,we were rootiing for you on sunday bet ol pops was wet after that.
  16. sorry stan no buffy pics i broke the camera for that
  17. long for bumpy water but a short will work you will have to move the hight of the kicker plate for long or short shaft applacations
  18. The scotty is set up so if you get a derby fish they give you a phone number to call so if you choose to run in for a derby fish they will have a escort to meet you at the dock so you can weigh in the derby fish with min loss of weight and still allow you to go back out to finish your day of fishing in the scotty. Thats a nice rule or procedure the pro ams should consider but you MUST get the approval and instructions BEFORE running through the pierheads from the tourny officials.Again all the info here is 2nd hand and you should always make 100% shure of any rule or infraction as you are the only one responsable for the crew and the boat entered ,I didnt understand is a poor excuse too tell your crew if you get disqualified and there is a oppertunity for questions to be answerd at the end of each meetitn.
  19. yes thanks bob and crew for putting up with my focassed attitude i sorta (he he) get in the zone when i derby fish every trip is a learning curve and boy i was really a slow learner this last weekend we had the Honer to run into Matt Sigman from siggs rigs .He was seeking out Musky to thank him for his (CHOWDER) recipe. His wife and kids love the stuff .We had a great time and Musky got a nice COMPLEMENT on his striped shirt at the dinner /drawing night (sat) im still too tired to post the real reports from THE PEGASUS'S DERBY ADVENTURES ,and thats too bad cause Nick and MIKE (doublehaul and landshark) gave me some very good material for a entertaining post i just gotta get the boat ready for trip 2 tomorrow but once again a few learning points were made for Kevin and Ivan with a Y but i think the SCOTTY will survive in U.S. waters . Thank you. and ima gona tellayou everyabody give the derbys a try even iff you ant never done one its a great time and the fish dont know if the bait there about to bite is from a 22 ft tin can or a 200,000.00 fully rigged mega fishing boat ...gotta go get er done for the hudson now. So dump your drawers and clear the bladder BEFORE you read the THE PEGASUS DERBY ADVENTURES report.
  20. check with musky he does that everytime he docks or in his words (PREPARE TO RAM) there were 20 plus guys at each slip when the big boys sliped at wilson lots of terds dropped when they came in sat and sunday.
  21. here is my theory to light line for browns ,as we know they are considered a "spooky" fish, more cautious of preditors is my guess so boat noise is important,no loud radio or clunking around in the boat. Also they are easuest caught in the warmer muddy or stained water where they can sneek up on prey, detect them with there latteral line and ambuse them when they approach the brown.I know for shure some of the nearshore water I fish the browns cant see the prey till it if inches From them, that tells me that the fish are more dependent on there latteral line to locate and get in front of there prey and wait, as the lure approaches they line up for a perfect head gulp,as they wait in the ambuse mode the 20 lb test hits them in the side and spooks them enuf to loose consentration and maby leave the bait (lure for good )thus no bite .The light line is more important I feel not for stealth(sight), or lure action (i use 20 lb on lures and stix at same speed for any other aplacation),but due to its softer feel it sorta brushes the brown not enuf to spook them as they are ready in total consentration with the viberation comming at them gets closer where the heavier stiffer line wacks them enuf to "spook um" thus no bite .Color is important as they use sight for the final strike and size is important due to there small moulth tho we all know tiny fish manage to get all 3 hooks in there lips at one time or another. But hey me justa plummer and the browns i chase are in a more confined space.(phew)
