  1. Left the shoot a 5am and was set up by 515 heading west.Perfect morning calm sunny and good temps in tight with great color from the last few days wind. After fishing Port Bay last week i wasnt used to going20 min to 1/2 hr between fish, then i started hitting good pockets of fish ,overall it was a smoking day, stacked em like cordwood,20 to 25 fish fishing alone, sorry inside joke on bragging,It was great catching in other words . few browns lots and lots of cohos and 1 steelie. found 1 pocket of browns 10 lbs and above did 4 passes and every pass i got a lunker released at side of boat un harmed .i ran black and silver stix ,also black and silver worked ,and even caught a few (hint hint)on black and silver. The shorter stubby stix worked the best 2 1/2 in but the crystal minnow held its own.8 to 12 ft of water,2.5 to 2.7 gps spread out on the boards, water temp was 44.3 to 46.4 with the warmer pockets holding the most fish no troll direction was better than another just speed and some rattles with proper color bait. The great news is i caught more Cohos by noon than i did all year long last year so there back most cohos were 18 in 2 to 3 lbrs but a few were already 24 in 5 or 6 lbrs (very few). Hope this report helps dont want to be too specific as to areas as the charters need to make a living off the limited depth of producing waters .
  2. think you passed me 9 miles west of the oak i was doubled up and by the time i finished itried to call you on 68 you were outa range

  5. is yer copper shorting out the plug , if the plug is bad just use a lawnmower plug there only 1.49 and work in anything.just put aset in the new van, runs a little ruff but i saved a pack of cigerattes
  6. the price of copper is down so give it a go 3 or 4 coppers off one side will give you plenty of action ,sorta keep you busy when everyone around you is catching fish.

  8. no lamoka then waneta then keuka ...waneta and lamoka both have the muskies .the normal release or level dam is at the sw end of lamoka in bradford ny but that also draines into the cohocton river then the chemung all flood water

  10. years ago there was a canal from waneta to a powerplant just north of the switz inn sorta like the powerplant at the oak dam .suppose fish may have made the trip and survived the turbines...definatly im possable from the chemung also the chemung containes Tigermusky not the real deal now maybe in the flood of 72 the water got high enuf in waneta and was released through the canal to ease the "mud creek"flow from the south west end of lamoka

Day 3 How did i get here?, who am i? and what have i become???well technically day 3 started at 12.00 midnite after day 2 (i think) with musky on the couch snoring and shouting in his sleep (jacki curtians hury with the curtians) i knew the lopsided broken recliner i was in would not due for the rest of the evning so i found a bed open there were lots due to the fact everyone else had doubled up in the beds, they musta been cold sleeping alone thank goodness i brought a blanket.Day # 3 would be a day the fish soon wont forget, with 4 on board my tub we were racking fish every 5 min with Nick,Chief Fluf, and Mike doing just as well the first pass was steady pick for 2 miles then we had to hunt up small pods to get our max limit by 1.00pm.we kept every thing we caught and still came up short 1 fish of our 30 fish limit.we,ve got to get more involved and do this again Port Bay is a nice little area with a bunch of friendly folks even Curly(hank) stoped by and vistied everyday as he didnt have much work going on yet.Nick,Mike,Chief Fluffy,John,Musky, and Shawn It was a good time hope you guys have more good weather and good luck catching fish .Sorry i hid the toilet paper when i left hope it didnt mess up anyones planes or the floor.. feel free to finish day 3,4,5 ray k.
  15. Well we got up at 0500 and decided it would be unfare to the local charters to go out early and take the first crack at the fish so we snuggled in till 0830 ,the extra sleep put all of us hot on our game.after several attemps to let the boards out bob hollard out the door and told nick to wait till we put the boat in the water to start fishing.Reluctlanty nick agreed and off to the launch we went.Nick,Fluffy ,and Mike took Nicks boat and went west, bob and i took my tub and went east.Bob and i were doing real good on the browns and cohos and the other guys threy a 8 lb (opps13) king in the cooler.feeling guilty about our skill level we quit fishing at 1100 and headed in for a little nappypoo.at 3 bob started to make the secret adronick chowder from 2 year old salmon so i went for a little fish trip to give the chef some room .the fishing was much better after a nap. Then the majic moment we all wait for the first taste of adronick chowder sipping across the lips then the teeth only to have your toungue experenct the first taste and it was PERFECT the creamy flavorful broth exploding the taste buds like 4th of july grand finally......then it happened the first pice of salmon it tasted just like 2 year old freezerburnt salmon the wonderful rubbery texture that destinct salmon flavor was covered by the chowder itsself. That evning we drank milk and water and went to bed much earlier .....Chief Fluffy Feather ran upstairs erected the Tee Pee and nick climbed in and lights out (except a flashlight in the T-Pee)Ps.Two more guys showed up too Shawn(fx) and John(?)
  16. Well day one at the port bay resort and fishing camp was pretty uneventfull.Got to hanks shop and had to show him how to tune a moter and install a out drive ,he caught on pretty fast, for a old guy with 1 arm.Nick and i took my boat out for a test run and a little fishing .We did pretty good with steelies ,cohos, atlantics ,and of course mr brown.Kept enuf for a romantic evning dinner.by the time we got in Musky was there with boat #3 for 3 guys.Got back to camp where nick(doublehaul) striped down to his cooking atire, made some pan seared browns, to go along with the venision sausage ,peppers and onions.Mike (landshark) showed up early 11:oo pm forcing us to stay up late taste testing nicks homebrew(till gone)drank all the beer to.Nick musta felt a little guilty to the extra pounds he put on after trimming 20 lbs in his quest for the new perfect woman.Speaking of perfect women one of the guys that showed up aty 11:00pm is dating a women old enuf to be most of our grandmother without giving up her age its more than 60 and less than 100.So back to nick and his struggling with the quickly aquired 15 lbs of food and drink, had but only one choice and that was to become bulomic. He did a good job too pretty much spackled the wall floor and toilet area of the only bathroom in camp gosh good thing he didnt go outside in the 5 acre farm.Nicks friend Chief Fluffy Feather showed up late also him and nick shared the same T-pee that nite ...well after a few follow up calls to calafornia at 2:00am it was off to bed for our 0500 wake up call to the lulling sounds of Indian drums.................................................
  17. Sorry for the loss ,Running Rebel has some good advice there (for once),May your memories comfort you ..
  18. got a few of us haeding that way for the next few days little east (port bay) well post a report or two.WELCOME and prepare to be informed
  19. Well the reason i post here is to help people catch fish. About the only fish left in catherine are suckers and a few 15in or smaller bows. You might catch a late spawner or hopefull male but 99.9% of the spawn is done. Read the reg. book as you mentioned rooster tails they typically have a treble hook which is illagle on that creek sgl.hook only. You would be better off going to the pier in Watkins and casting in the lake as the landlocks are schooling up near there waiting for the baitfish to show. go to www.senecamarine.com and look at lake cam #2 i think and that is the place to go cast from
  20. tie some thing to it and youll be fine...........the nearest boat will do.
