  4. ive tried "radio check " the Coast Guard at severn and the south end several times over the past few years ,using proper radio procedure for that reason and they never have responded so a cell phone may be your only"lifeline" on seneca lake ,local sherrif, fire station, might be good numbers to have programed in and the obvios 911 is always there too.BUT to my knowalge no sherrif or fire dept has a boat on standby so your pretty much on your own in the winter ,as most boats out this time of year are smaller and have no radio ,dont rely too much on them hearing you .
  5. ng out severn is open 99.9% of winter ,a 10 lb bag of salt in the winter may make the diff.between driving out of the water or spinning your tires throught the thin coating of ice left by others as they pul out trailers and water drips on ramp.village marina next to capt bills is usually open 96% of the time in winter but the record cold (global warmin)this year has stiffened up the surface a few times call bill or rick at www.senecamarine.com if they have a report they will pass it on. Please note this is a 1 ramp honer system ramp 4.00 also be smart about the way you park as space is limited and shared by local patrons at the bar/returant.my guess with the strong north winds latley is the ice is clear at this ramp if not now it will be by the weekend also a shovel might be a good thing here not so much for snow but to push aside the seaweed that a steady north wind seems to deposite there .
  6. argggggghhhhhh, i said slowly that means almost parallel to shore . i was actually doing the test thing after relizing not touching botom in 25ft so i was running almost parrell the the shore line ,i must be getting picked on if so ya got me if not the depth i said are very close to actual maybe 2 ft off for the transducer depth from the surface so 19ft might be a closer to actual depth for my testing. even though i post a funny post or two i usually post as accurate as possable when it comes to fishing tips..and methouds..........
  7. noooo shade i said a 00dodger with fly lots of drag, spoons in normal size i use the 5 ft per color rule ..the more drag the flatter anything will run (higher), I wasnt disputing the books numbers just adding my experience with a 00-dodger and fly.
  8. yo mike hey i see you fish like us (the empty beer cans) ill send you some flys and you send me a couple of those bait heads ..Ray K.
  9. yup sounding fishy from what i was lernt and that was the lead dia is the same with the sheath giving it its strength therefore srtonger line should be larger dia with same amount of lead so it should run higher than the lighter line
  10. WOW!! the wife and i went to a display i think in NY city more than a week so i forgot. But anyways there was some pieces of steel there, and the firetruck that was one of the first responders ,what was left of it..and various photos of "9-11".Not hardly a word could be heard from anyone there even the teenagers who were there were silent and taking in the whole display.Thank You Chad ..for posting these pics i feel honerd just to see this great ship with such a story in it.If we had some man guys running this country every year on or around "9-11" i would make it mandatory for every student in the U.S.A. to watch a documentary of "9-11" and have it on TV for all Americans to remember ,refresh, and never let this sort of attack occure again.....God Bless The United States Of America....
  11. last year going 2.5mph with 10 colors lead pulling coho rig(00dodger with fly),i forgot i had it out when i slid into 25 ft water and it never hit bottom so i kept going in slow and it finally hit in 17 ft of water.knot at the water and a few passes to boot.

Well for those of you who made it to the sardine can on sunday you found some good stuff. It was a little crowded before and in between seminars at the flea market ,but a nice break from the winter blues and nice to see some familure faces and i even got a chance to meet more names to faces of the LOU board members . Had the pleasure to meet runny rebels wife and she ant as fat as he claimed she was heck she cant go 220 lbs maybe only 120..boy i hope she grounds him for a week for those jokes about her.I can say with pride that i am a LOTSA member now gave em my 10.00 fee bunch of good guys in the organazation(lotsa) who not only care about our fishery but do something about it with the pen rearing and other lake related projects, and do to the large size (membership) this org. is reconized by N.Y.S. as a reputable source for information and input with various concerens to lake ontario.LOTSA members were (very) helpfull in the collecting of salmon eggs a couple yearsback when the salmon egg take was down due to river conditions at the salmon river hatchery.I cant remember the exact number but i think like 2out of every 5 salmon from that years hatch are in part bacause of the members of LOTSA and there efforts .so every 3rd salmon you catch you can thank the lotsa members for it.(drumm roll please) So if ya got a pile of beverage cans stacked from the winter blues cash in $10.00 worth and send it to LOTSA and become a member go to www.lotsa.org to find out how to join and what you can benifite from your membership, including EXCLUSIVE AXCESS TO ONE OF THE HOTTEST FISHING HOT LINES ON LAKE ONTARIO. ooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhh HINT ,HINT,HINT seems like this sale would of been a great place for SOMEONE to have set up "LOU TABLE " hats, shirt, another store stuff so for those of us with a pocket full of money and more tackle than we can carry could of bought some LOU stuff to adorn our hot bodies with CHAD. ........Thank You LOTSA members and other Mfgrs ,Captians,Dan Keeting,Dave Mull(GLA editor and GLANGLERS website babysitter)and everyone who made the 2nd annual fishing expo, fleamarket a sucess ....Ray K.
