  1. back in the day the homade were all we had as mentioned above tuning is key to each board before you install your permanent eyelet much like the bridal string on a kite. if your far from a lake use a small stream or river for current with a small screw eye till the best pull is achived.also go with 1x8 for better hight and visiabality. and 32inch is a good length but 28 will do fine. Also dont get too agressive in the side pull as this adds a lot more pressure to your mast and mounting area at base of mast. as i type this the kite bridal idea like the otterboats use could be added so in calmer conditions you could go for the adjustable spread quickly or in stall 2 or more permanent attachment eyes for same results
  2. using light line can be very challenging and fun to catch salmon or large fish but not without its downfalls . first it streaches out the fight which is great if your alone and plan on keeping the fish as he will be so played out it wont survive a realease.,also its more proper knot sensative one crossover and youve lost higher % of knot strength, all releases will cause some line damage not so much from the relase(fish hitting) its self but the long time trolling with the line pinched or held in place under pressure. i dont deploy my ultralight till i find a good school of active fish to avoid long periouds of trolling light line.i like 12(lures) and 15 (spinnies) for rec fishing but go to 17 and 20 if were in a derby.like others mention use a base heaverier line 20lb and learn a good line knot and change your leader to match fishing situations.

  9. short story or the whole thing///Many moons ago there was born a great hunter- gatherer, the natives called him omganothershortfatbaldone. or bald-e short for Bald Eagle or,ray as many here know him.he weaned himself from his mother on his own at the young age of 16 .shortly after that he started to persue the beast of the wild, such as rabbits, grouse and mice.then one day while sneaking through the underware er um brush he was mounted by a great buck, that broke his sperit and many other things .upon returning to his village he was picked on and called the amounted one.this made him angry and from that day on he vowed to shoot a buck a year for the rest of his life.one warm day he was hunting in his fishing suit(buffy) and was mistaken by a bear for a mate due to his hairy back. the bear had his way with him in the den for the winter and when he escaped his scalp was worn bald and from that day on he vowed to shoot a bear a year for the rest of his life.and so the cycle has started....the end ,,,,or is it the beginning????????

  20. Justin, nice job on the fish as always. Feel free to post your report here anytime we all like to hear the whole story of fishing trips .Some times your dad leaves out the little things like no anchor chain, flopping radar dome,im shure there are a lot of little things he leaves out of his post.(he,he)If you hit the rip with live bait on small tackle thats pretty cool also.Maybe this spring you guys and Diesel(Rick) can bring his boat up the hudson river to Newburgh for some awsome stripper fishing. Those stripers are pretty tasty arnt they? keep your grades up so you can skip a couple days next spring.Looking forward for your reports.
