  5. heard the fish are in the oak pretty good and very few in 18 mile creek but that was 4 days ago if they got the rain it could of changed...opps just saw the burt dam report looks good there too.
  6. I was thinking the 30 lb pwr pro or the new "ugly super braid" we used 30 pp for tarpon and sharks in Fla. last year and it was more than enuf.So rod dont want me to bring my full 12 rod spread ,80lbs of tackle or my Snoopy pole.Wonder if i go in the buffy mode if he would let me bring just 1 extra lure?Whats the typical water clarity in that area,If we bait fish do you go after the suspended or bottom ,and will we have line counters on board(#1 key to sucessfull spring fishing for me).
  7. after fishing to hudson for 10 years using 15 lb line its gonna be hard to change to that big stuff ,But im doing this trip for fun and to learn new tech. for strippers, how long of leader should i look for for the blues(wire) to keep em from chomping my line?looks like i better buy a bigger saltwater tackle box (footlocker might do)

  17. jaychucker, you may have answered your own question as to why you got no response.trolling with my honda 8hp on a calm day for hours means low rpms and little output for my only battery. I have elect.riggers,radio,1 gps ,1 fishfinder, Ialso was way offshore 12miles and could hear boats at the "25" line talking when i tried to give a report i got no response as they were whining and i was doing real well out there .then i remembered someone on this site mentioning how much power the radio requires to transmite(full).,so i started my main moter (io)and with the strong output of a altenator i tried to transmite again and the boat i was tring to reach read me loud and clear so a low battery and talking on the radio does little good . your best bet even though you did not have a "Mayday" situation you did have a "securtay" situation and it would of been appropate to call the coastguard on 16 to relay your situation(they have stronger recivers than us and may of heard you ).As for me its much more rewarding to pull stuff and help a fellow boater as long as they meet my payment request .That is to pass the good deed on if you ever can saftly do so ,so far all have agreed to this payment.(could be the fact i hold a knife to the tow rope when asking this question). Im not saying this was your situation but just some food for thought before putting down the entire port. Ray K.
  18. jimski2 ,dude your like the old man in the sea ,60 years on the big ponds you better come up with some good (good oll days stories ) this winter when cabin fever fires up. Us youngins (except muskybob he's pretty old)would love to here some stories of days of your life (if your willing to share)......................Comon gramps tell us another story...............
  19. the wrap holds up great but you still have to make a (tent type frame for runoff ) if it were me id put a little time and money to make a frame and use plastic tarp .shrinkwrap will run around 150.00 between bungies and lumber and cover youll have less than 50.00 thats 100.00 for tackle or gas.
