YT ,we used to have a bass tourny on waneta lake weekly but instead of keeping (killing) the fish we did a five card draw polker hand .if you got 5 fish over 12" you drew 5, 4 andyou drew 4,ect.,best hand won . so ya still wanted 5 but ya could win with 2 fish, justa thought unless you got a bunch of guys in it.and you released the fish right after catching it . course you got live wells in them days not many did

Nice report ,next year get in the derby(Pro /Ams) there really fun . What the heck im new to lake ontario fishing compared to some here .if your lucky enuf to have a good day you might win a few bucks ,throwin a raffle or two and you dont even need to catch a fish to win some nice stuff.Couple more fish like that would of payed your gas and entry fees.I pretty much have to finish well to get back my gas and beverage fees its not a matter of luck that we did well but more of one of surival to offset our beverage cost. If we dont have a full box by 10 am i put the lead boots on muskey throw him overboard and dont bring him up till he has a fish in his moulth, kinda like a freshwater flipper. -
Thank you sir ,we look forward to one more adventure it was nice to meet so many board members there . Its nice to finish in the money maybe well share it with all the board members ..............naw after sitting in that rain getting wet to the crack of your butt having the moter quit on the way in with 14 min left and almost getting ranover and swamped in my 22 ft boat it was a full adventure. seems like someone should make a law that says you should stay a certain distance from another boat while your on plane specially like more than 50 ft.wheres the cheese ?

Pro Am prefishing derby????????

Dont listen to munchybob i mean muskybob the only arches he gets fish at are golden ones, you outscored us but with the added rain i was content to try to stay dry rather than change lures. may of cost us a few thousand bucks hmmm maybe a good rainsuit would pay for itsself. -
At the oswego tourny we were asked for input on what changes might make each tourney better . I dont know if it would make them better but if there was AM and a Pro prefish derby seperate more amatures might be interested .I know im a whiner ,but when a boat with more electronics on board than the average Best Buy electronic store.and fish there home port nearly every day i dont feel like i have much of a chance on my little aluminum can with a 500.00 fishfinder and 20 year old tackle.I know fishing can be a game of luck but for the above reasons i feel a little out gunned .I know time and manpower is a issue but if its doable and enuf people respond maybe???????heck the award ceromony (prefish) could happen at the same time,as far as that goes the pro am awards could happen at the same time ,10th place Ams,10th place Pros,9th Ams ,9th place Pros ect, ect, alternating between 2 mics or anouncers might get every one home sooner keeping a bigger crowd till the end ,just a thought. Ray K. ............LOOK OUT Sodus Buffy's and team L.O.U.S.E.R.S. is comming your way this week.

YEA ,we did finish 4th 1500.00 in cash and prises.saturday i followed a little birds advise after a slow prefish day on friday and went for the browns .Saturdays brown bite was hot with our 6 fish limit on the boat by 11.00. Sunday went to the same waters and only got 4 released one 18.5 " wont do that again but it would not of made a difference due to the point spread, phew.Did you know that if you have 600ft copper ,2 dypsys and two riggers down and do a short turn 360(thats a circle musky)that it will make the mother of all tangles add to it a steady downpour with a cheep raincoat , some very unchristan words may be spoken at the back of the boat as the driver sits out of the rain. Anyways as ive said before these pro ams are fun, even more fun when you do well so if you can get in one plan ahead and get a team togeather and get into your First Pro Am. It helps support our fisheries ,sharpens your fishing skills,a bad one will humble you and a good finish will make fishing 5 hours in a downpour with a cheap raincoat doing 360's all seem worth it . And if your not able to compete but would like to get involved im shure you would be met with open arms if you could volenteer your time if you called the people behind the scenes(A BIG TIP OF THE HAT TO YOU ALL) and tell them you would like to help.I have to go now and open the letter that showed up in the mail that is marked "personal and confidential"while i was fishing this weekend the perfume smells like a mix between fried Gobies, and Zebra clam chowder.I can only imagine who sent it,it has me going in circles just thinking about it.P.S. to all the pro am boats we encountered( except the one who almost swamped us at the end of day two) a very profesional and courtious boat handling was obserbed this weekend out of OSWEGO..thanks to all Ray.K.

skippy get some of that "Frontline " flea killer .just bought some for DUKE hes been itching and draggin his butt all through the house kinda looks like a little road from room to room. anyways ya just put some on the back of yer neck and it will take care of those fleas been using it for years and it ant effect, effect, effect, effected me yet, yet, yet, yet, yet.I gotta say of the 12 kids still living at home DUKE always brings the fleas home first. -
No Brainer enjoy the beer..but if you only sharpen on set of hooks on the boat it better be on the slider spoon.
-
Ill take it

I installed a "chaff system"on my boat been cut off once .the coasties gave his boat a good going over its amazing how many things can be found outa complaince when you mess with a ex.miltary person.

No where can i get one?yea just attach it between the two riggers and let er down shoot then i can get rid of those rods lures and all that other crap.. I run 6ftish free sliders fer the same reason jekyll mentioned

I understand where your comming from and didnt miss your point i just know they got there hands full from talking to Dave last year like any event now a days it seems like its harder and harder to find people to help behind the scenes.. I never experienced the 1000.00 a day derby now that would of got me in trouble with the little lady and my gas budget

boy i gotta agree with the following around stuff we were running our way point for the third time when this boat comes from behind us overtaking us on our starbord side then slid right over to within 150 ft as we were lined up with fixed cottage on shore then the guy gets a little nasty tells us to get a new compass and turns away .he was the "overtaking vessel" " giveway vessel" and then gets a riled up for us staying our course . but i wont mention any names cause im shure he has caused enuf embarrasment for himself and his clients . -
Thats the nature of the beast the longer they eat the bigger they get ,as for a early and late prize structure try to imagine the work involved in running this derby and be thankful there is a summer derby or any at all.as for early june fishing or sooner the big boys are out there just sorta spread out chasing different food groups when the big bait balls come to shore so do the fishies then they sorta slide in for the pre staging also making them easier targets for nearshore fishing 95% of fishing waters. ...........so be thankful for what ya got. and keep tring for the big one and if you really want to get a big fish dont get in the derby at all thats a shure way to get a big one then kick yourself for not getting in it ..see Landsharks post..he saved 25.00 kick ,kick

i cover difftemp with "stackers" a stacker set up is put one rod off the ball and drop rigger 15 or 20 ft and add a Stacker (a device so you can attach another rod with a release and fasten it to your rigger cable ,then drop both lines to desired depth.lets say i use the 20 ft seperation on 2 riggers 4 rods drop 1 side to say 70 ft now i have a spoon at 70ft and 50 ft ,drop other rigger to 80 ft now that rigger has spoons at 80ft and60 ft so basicly with 2 riggers i have 50,60,70,80ft covered then throw on free sliders on top rod only and you have approx 1/2 the difference from the boat to the top release so ya got a free slider approx 25ish and 30 ish down.dem fish ant got a chance . afree slider sorta drops to the bow in the attached line about 1/2 way down that is a sorta guess and shoot from the hip depth, word of advise the slider is ok on the finger lakes and early season fishing the big pond but when you start going for the big boys put the sliders away or youll have mega tangles aor loose the whole rig.specially when the fleas come out to play.
