  1. jason is confused i think he ment 20 ft off the ball. run your dypsy lead in acording to your pole length and net length .the 8 fts is a good lead length throw in a 8" spinny with a 22" fly now your up to 10 ft to the fish at the back of the boat.the numbers are more a "reference" number not a ratio as to depth to line out. the 3 is the "higest" and most out to the side setting with 1 being the deeper and behind the boat setting .I was always tought and have found to be true with my own experience the 2.5 setting is pretty close to 3 to 1 ratio at 2.7 mph once you get out 200ft wire or more with spindctrs.Speed ,currents ,tackle drag ,all effect this ratio a little .so 270 ft at a 2.5 setting will put you in the 90ft depth range .always start out with 20 or 40 ft less than the formule 230 to 250 ft and let out 10 ft more at a time if you arnt getting results . Just dont let out too much more than the 3 to1 ratio or youll be raking clams (zebras)
  2. awshucks, also try www.attheoak.com click on surface temps and ya got another...
  3. the (ice on the niagra) has a couple links you should like
  4. nm,8 ft is fine lakers are 80 to 126 ft down as a general rule though as noted they can be from the top to the bottom .specially in these water temps .set dypsys at 2.5 240 ft back. and remember these are bottom orentated fish (they lay on the bottom)so the heavest concentration will be in the 100 to 120 ft deep water .Just dont blink when running this line as the bottom depth does vary a lot .Also this time of year the "bite" window could be just a few hrs each day so ya gotta put in some time . the am and pm bite is a pretty good rule of thumb just remember am this time of year is 5:00am or earlier
  5. 285 pts that would put your weight at ......no wonder my little barge wouldnt pull up on plane. Hmm you just about have enuf material to wright a book called toms adventures.Guess well just have to save it for next winters adventures.(cabin feaver days).Keep the material comming in next time take a pic with the lure hanging out it looks better someone suggested that to Billy with some of his pics a while back.Thank goodness you got your IQ finger and not your picking finger. At least jax is teaching you the basics of setting the hook , now heal up there and set the hook in a fish next time.
  6. thanks ...att bought out cell one who ive been with for 14 years (the ol bag days) and have had more glitches ,overages and compeuter errors in 6 months than the last 14 years so its kinda tuff ,but i did get the call a few min ago and they resolved this latest issue .so im stuck with them till my contract expires or pay 175.00 x 3 to get outa contract so 4 outa 6 bills ive had to talk with someone for overages .I wonder how many people just pay the bill and dont pay attention to there charges.........tomorrows another day.

  17. opps sorry i only fished the sodus where no net boatside culling was approved so i (assumed) all the tournements were that way...i told ya im justa plummer
  18. dont plan on the 4th at the oak but have been known to make plans on short notice
  19. just take a minute to pull the prop and make shure you didnt wrap fishing line or anything that could have ripped the seal.could save a little embarresment if they pull the prop and find a wad of line burnt through the seal .if alls well there then id give em a chance to rebuild or at least tear down and check every thing .a pocket recorder is sorta convient at certain times in life got me back 15,000 grand on a van deal gone bad with a very repitable dealer.everyone can make a mistake its the next step that will determine things .best of luke.
  20. sounds good and thats my story we were in 5th.even though 20 other teams had heavier catches .maybe they were throwing in the whole teams average think we had 1200lbs of fishermen and observer in my boat
  21. psst (that was the rule last year)GREAT IDEA!!!!!!!!!! what they are is what they are as long as we all abide we all got the same chance.last year we could drop a fish at the side of the boat .know im kinda new to the L.O. fishing seen but a 3or4 lb fish on 20plus lb tackle ant got to much of a chance to fight as reeljerks video clearly shows if there small you reel em up and skip them along the surface and release them before they know what happened .But im justa plummer.
  22. dat not good ,id pull the prop and check for line /seal damage.before you pull prop check backlash between two outdrives and compare but my guess is what your thinking ,water ant the best lube around.the oil and water will seperate after sitting so if you had some oil on top of the water it may have saved you but i wouldnt take the chance
  23. rubberised undercoating at auto zone 10.00 and you get 4 balls done from 1 can
