opps my bad thought he posted attaching to a board not to plainer board line(big boards) .ive broke lead at the rod tip twice before learning.........
-
some blowback will always occure and line out wil never match .usually 115to120 out will give you bout 100 down at 2.5 mph add a stacker and you need more line out,run a spinny and more line so there is no way to eleminate the blowback within reason.throw in some mixed down currents and now your learning .there are so many varyations and suttle differences in rigger dia ,line used die is huge for blow back, currents wind and on and on ,you just gotta bounce the lead a few times at various depths and learn what is going on in your spread with my 12 lb fish and double staked with 17lb test i get a 40 ish deg. blow back ,,,,,,,,trolling next (at a distancematch speed) to some good charters and observing your cable blowback or dypsy pull will help a lot after that thats one of those areas you just gotta kinda figure out with your own setup...... 16 oz weights are available at any salt water bait shop or on line ....... hmmmm there is a guy about 3 miles from my house that makes surf weights for a living ill stop and see him for what he makes .Ray K.belive it or not i got a bunch of them in my basement..........if it made i got it ......if i ant got it you dont need it...............

i have 7/8oz 1.24oz and2.25oz to adjust depth 4or 5 of each they ant to cheep 2to 3bucks each but cheaper than new rod/reel/lead. if ya need more detail i can elaborate how i set em up...inlines will work also

yes, most people who look for a good lead or copper program off the boards will have in there arsonal several rods preloaded with 3 color,5 color 7color with lead.or 75ft ,150ft,300ft,with copper to achive there target depths.many have posted to halfhitch a rubberband to the leadcore and attach rubberband to release.junklines as they are refered to by most (lead, copper) have there time and place in the spread but can be a little time consuming and messy (tangles) if your not careful .i like my 7 color with a coho rig in the spring ,or a stickbait when way offshore(7mi+) in the summer for steelies.a simpler methoud is the keel sinker program then you dont need to buy or store any additional rods and reels that is a problem for smaller boats like mine and a small budget .Ray K.

Capt. John ,sounds like your due for a bigger boat. 11 days to go ,i talked to a couple guys at olcott from pa and they are searching on the pa side notta so far just some bass.i gotta belive what you said last year about the resident fish ,i would think those 60mph winds a month ago had to drive stuff out a ways, but the temps with bait should bring em home by then ...look forward to a report.I dont get any interferience with my 8-track player..

crazy ivan those are some long fish, the green water was at wilson friday with some nice steelies allover in it .the bad news is the lake ant moving too fast cause of the east winds but friday it was almost moving 1/2 mph so monday or tuesday it should be there .this is only my 2nd year spring fishing so i dont kow if the little honey hole i found 10 to 12 miles west of the oak last year,is normal, but that area slowed the fish for about 2 weeks last year, just pay attention if anyone runs west a little as the log jam was about 6 miles in front of the green water(east) so your gonna run the gauntlet before you hit the green stuff .keep your eye on the MODIS cameras, with the green water on friday i gotta belive the steelies from olcott and wilson will start on the leaderboard -
shade what do you mean by message clear?

seems like more and more i get questions on my PM about fishing ,anyone with questions feel free to pm me but even more so i encourage you to post openly on this site .beleave it or not we all learn from your questions and the many answers that you may recive to the topic.i was very intimadated to post on this site for a long time because all the "experts" here but soon found out everyone was willing to help, though im shure a few people got a chuckle from some of my basic questions time to time.like i siad WE ALL LEARN AND WE ALL WILL TRY TO HELP .so what is a slider and what is the best swivel and how long leads for a slider when do you use it most and when should you never use it and what weight spoons work best on a slider, and how strong a line ,are 7 questions that should be asked ,probly have several times, and probly will be asked (i hope) for years to come.SO ask away here and maybe ol BLUE EYES and a few of us seasoned guys could come up with a suggested post of sort where you type in slider and there is a short vidio or series of photos explaning that will decribe its makeup, use, spicies to target with it and therory of its use....sort of a LOU fishing dictionary to help us all...Ray K. heck i might even learn sompthing (like how to spel) or a new thing or two........naw..........................

ok im a L.O.U.S.E.R. jason and i managed 1 king thursday afternoon mtn dew costom edgewith maniacs fly (thanks) just kinda running around hunting .friday was a little bumpy from the n/e had some nice 4ft salmon chop ,motoman, jeremy, and steve gave us a crew of 5 .gave moto the first king (same spin/fly)it wa such a strain on him after catching those little steelies he crawled in the cabin and fell asleep till 1pm dreaming of motospoons.1 down......even with all the talking from 1 side of the boat ,talk about harnesing wind power,i think jeremy rode all the way to olcott with his head out the window and filled his lungs to capsity boy it was comming back out on the boat.7hrs nonstop.let jason and jeremy reel in the remaning 3 of 4 landed .i lost a 5 lb dink at the boat playing with it.steve stayed on the wheel dodging the landmind of logs many 15ftrs,he even managed to look at a couple 6ftrs(logs and waves)in the rigger cables due to a recent injury on his Mickel jackson arm (he insisted on wearing a white glove on one hand) he tried a little moon walking but due to the bumpy water he fell in the drivers seat..my wife warned me about the kind of people you might meet on the internet.jeremy talked a good fishing program but when he opened his majic bag all he broke out was peanuts (salted not fishing)and a bottle of water, but his ability to keep us all awake with his fishing stories about his dads ability to loose fish at the back of the boat was good enuf ,thanks 2 rods i mean jeremy,he almost showed us that methoud neting jasons fish. speaking of jason and netting.............why would anyone tangle the 8ft long net in the trolling linkage 6in off the back of the boat and then lay on the back of the boat in 4 ft seas giving us all a view of his brown thong ( i hope it was a thong geesh) overall it was a great time with a full boat thanks steve, moto and jeremy for the full house. jason and i went to wilson in the afternoon and found some steelies 1 monster cut off in the wire and a few kings so we had a 10 fish hookup day and landed most... due to jasons wifes condition we came home fri nite may we all say a prayer or two for jason and his wife in these times for her recovery,Thank YOU.Ray K. ..P.S. jeremy and steve shared one of there hunting stories go to the comic section for there adventures......... -

depends how many guys on board and the rigger dypsy spread this time of year i have my big boards and mast so i run the weighted stuff off the big boards kinda gives you that 150 ft spread .down the middle will work just fine .i seem to get a better size fish putting stuffdown 15 to 25 ft over open water -

G/F................sounds like shes got you reined in like a wife........have a great weekend ........... hmmmm maybe if you got some CURTIANS on your boat she would like to go camping on the lake ,that sounds like the best of both worlds,ya might even capitolize on some wave action ,,,,,or make a little of your own -
OH what the heck ill jump in too ........shoot i forgot what i was gonna say. oh yea thanks to the guys who volenteer their time to keep these derbys going, its gotta take a lot of your time .and we all better enjoy em while we can afford(bairly) the gas to enter them.Even though i only entered 1 pro am in my life (wayne) i sorta like the releaseing of fish at the side of the boat, specially if its a 16in dink .as for last year at the wayne derby seems like very few AM's even weighed in 6 fish a day .which would indicate very few fish released, but im justa plummer, ill bet 1boat fishing seriously in this spring LOC derby will release more fish in a day than all the am"s did in that 2 day derby,i bet if you asked for a show of hands at the captians meeting for those who released fish not to many will pop up...
