yes i will gotta do the ohio trip fri/sat,but i gotta warn ya my boat she ant pretty, but its safe .the weather and drive back home will determin my sunday trip or not . -
actually all spicies come to shore for that evning snack and breakfast, some of the biggest lakers iv gotten were in 12 ft or less at first light.if ya notice most reports on the big pond include steelies, cohos, and kings mixed in with the brown reports.usually if your early(am) and stealthy(long leads light line) even in clear water youll get fish but shortly after sunrise fish dispurse unless you got a little color and temp break.when that happens slide out to deeper water and put your stuff halfway down and up (ie.. if you slide to 80 start at 40ft,35,and 30ish)

thanks bill and bob.i quite often dont pay the thanks and complements to all those who post reports and pics .i appreceate checking them out as much as the next guy.Thank You .and let it be known im one of the "hits" your reports get and trust me i check em all..... after all you never know when someone will mess up leaving me the opertunity to point it out to all ......when your perfect (ars) like me (no hemroids)ya gotta stay on the stick..............speaking of sticks did i ever mention almost getting a perfect bulls eye sking in the woods at greek years ago and getting impaled on stick............at the time i had a woman docter just to ad further humilation to all the pain, not to mention trying to find a reasonable excuse to tell the receptionest(young girl)why i needed to see the docter....err um i seem to be having a little pain in my backside

with my 20/20 hindsite kicking in full force we still managed a few fish.hows the saying go "the only thing worse than not having a plan is having a plan and not following it "well we set out the boards getting ready for a west troll near shore, next boat out the shoot goes 270 head west wide open then another and another.so i shout out orders to the crew (poor jason) to haul it the boards and go boat fishing set up 1/2 mile away and got a steelie on a superman then lost a couple more.1 kinda big 10lbish.jason scraped up 8 big lakers 12 to 15 lb kinda cool and i pulled in a small coho. set up 3 miles west (johnsons) and trolled 12 miles west before turning around.temp band was 50 ft to 80 ft water(about 1 mile offshore)48 deg was the avg temp in this strip of water.being i was in ohio for the 18,19th i did not do my wind homework (pretty good n/e winds both days) so my fish landing hopes were kinda slim, but a 70deg plus day in april on the water is a good day as many are ,throw a beautiful L.O. sunrise with gentle rollers (couple rouge 3or4 ftrs),no wind, and a couple fish to boot made for a great day.. im shure the nearshore troll for 12 mileswould of put more fish in the boat ,but the thoughts of all the cohos i got last year at this time 7 to 10 miles west of port kept me in the warm water band ,maybe next time ......as i say.........................opps PS.. almost forgot we went to the north to eat and looking for Mick ,they said he dont come outa LYNTUCKY on the weekends.guess they were having a banjo hoedown.

like jason said big boards set your stuff 100to 125 back kept the boat in the 12 ft water seemed to be pods of steelies with a steady pick of browns east troll was best but with a west wind it was easier to keep proper speed going with it kinda zig zaged the best we could with boards and long lines, and shallow water ,we could not add to much to the mix with speed changes but that helped too .. pretty good color and temp break to the east of the creek.it was pretty crazy for two people with four fish on at a time specially when you had a big one on with 12 lb test line all you could do was baby em in and hope the other rod was still hooked up when we could get to it.if the color is there the fish will be too .imshure erie will start warming real fast its 80 deg today in ohio and sunny to boot .if so id head offshure and look for a thermal break and hunt down the cohos .i forgot till after we were done that last year under these conditions the m&m lure color was hot .................oh well .

jason and myself headed east tofollow the creek plum.. got out well before sunrise and did in the 12 fish by 9;30 and lost half that many....... 4or5 browns over 10 lb and jason lost a big boy at the boat in the 15 lb range due that i wouldnt let him use the net. several 3or 4 lb steelies in the mix, before i made the stupid decision to run to the bar and look for some kings or cohos.nota 1 but oll dead eye pulls a 10/11 lb laker from the depths with a green dolphin it fought like a bigstick..im shure if we chose to stay on the easy prey we could of got a lot of fish but we kinda felt guilty spanking those browns and small steelies.. 43deg, near shore and 35,8 deg in the niagra plume i think we were a week early ,,,,gfr, yellow blue, gold yozuri stix were hot.no spoon bite yet...all released for another trip,,,,,,,,,.............most all fish lost were steelis thatwe couldnt get to due to fighting big browns..they just kept jumping back there till they got off.1 brown was really nastied up by ell and several others(browns) had ells or bad marks on them,,2.5 gps(mph)worked for us anjd east troll was best

Pegasus ,should be there.ya know for ten years i volenteered with children softball program it was a 7 day a week thing between maintaining 7 acres of fields and conession stand operation, and you know who had to fix mowers, attend elactrical problems ,and repair plumbing, ect, ect. well not a peep outa the wife....BUT SHOW her my fishing schedual for the summer now that i back away from the youth program and she rubbes it in my face every time i wrap the leaky drains with duct tape or put another bucket out to fix the newest leak in the roof,or walk past that stupid honey doo list that now encompasses the whole refrigerator. whats her problem?thats why God made buckets ,duct tape, and extencion cordes....thats where the "should" comes in Ray K.
