  1. comon guys my little heart jumpud when i saw there was a post from the north shore....... must be a couple fishes cought up that way?
  2. next time hell get out of the water rather than tring to sneak around those trees,30 ft eh he must of layed down and splashed like a little girl ant like the water is exatly ripping right now.911 im laying in the middle of the creek what should i do its really cold ........................sir try standing up.
  3. we can all buy blowboats get some of those stupid hats and cut off all the guys with moters cause well have the right of way that way we can stay on the hot spots.otherwise its a decision beer or gas.............guess ill take up jigging..problem solved ..
  4. yes like whats his name said they usually stayed hooked up ,lakers ant really got a reelsmoking jumping reputation, just a few dips of the rod and sorta flutter to the surface. no need to clear any rods except as mentioned above .even if the dypsy if all the way out 240 ft at 2.5 sett. with a laker on the rigger, the wire will be no problem unless you get a release on a tight turn(as tight as you can with a dypsy which ant real tight).ive mentioned flys and spinny color but another important thing other than speed 2.5 to 2.7 mph is the length of the leader to the fly i run all mine (except coho rig 14") about 22 in back give or take a inch wont kill ya thats from the swivel at the back of the spindocter to the back of the rear hook on the fly. good luck on the shake down ..Ray K.
  5. yanks fan cool ,sox fan kinda pushing it a little, but if one stinking raiders fan shows up im outa there....................go Bills....
  6. the guy is commiung down wed .he felt i was so important that he should hand deliver it to me ,i think he just wants my autograph (sign the check fool)was his words.
  7. ORANGE ,does it smell like orange?NO but i might consider it for up north in coho water.if you were dumb enuf to buy one you might as well run it and if it works maybe we can put a run on that color.I sorta get hung up on the catching while this time of year when the fishing is sooo good i should be following my own advise and trying different setups ,and colors.Jason didnt mention the fly that is so beat up was a little color combo i threw togeather with my daughters bead kit .you know the one you were crawling around on the floor picking up the beads after you had to break out the knot undoer(knife and wirecutters).somehow jason bringing up proctoligest and BIG WEENIE flys gives me a funny feeling when im hooking up the steering rod to the kicker, like someone is staring at me.i think the biggest difference in my side was i was running a mtndew spindctr on a mostly sunny day when i went with the chrome and dk green spinny that just fit the sun better than mtn dew .lower light conditions break out the mtn dew(sorta chartruise)colors.even a dark green with white crush would be better for the sunny stuff.if you run orange id keep it in the upper 30 ft colum for land lock maybe a rainbow hmmmmmmmmmmm....ya know those rainbows do like orange stuff .ok i have one and next time maybe ill put one out.if it works ill tell ya ................after the derby
  8. bb33 ,welcome i'll give you a a for effort for the drive with limited info we all here have a pretty good program for the pond but not to give you the impression we cant help i think you should start at WWW.ATTHEOAK.COM scroll down to "total choas" and check his spring brown tatics. this will sorta give you a good idea as what to expect and how to run a good program .west end of the lake is always more forgiving for west s/w/winds wilson /olcott/point breeze(oak orchard)with a good chance of spring salmon and steelies along with the browns,we even had a local bass fisherman catch a salmon this year! a boat is a boat and water is water -------no one knows your abbilities with your boat better than you still if its 15 mph or stronger from st south id stay home s/w to west in your boat above 10mph still could be a gamble .maybe a little more would doable ...also go to fishing report archive for some good info at the oak site for spoons or stix to use/...Ray K.....PS watch the oak site the fishing should kick into high gear by tuesday and smoking by friday..
  9. sorry i thought you said wateppump replacement in the lower gear case not the whole outdrive...ill read better before i post again  you just get er straight up and down and it will slide right up there lower the front of the trailer to get clearence under the outdrive and spin the prop a little to aligne splines (grease well first)
  10. yea i think you need to have it straight up and down to center the stuff up in there and watch that little "o" ring if that slides out during te assembly youll be doing it all overagain ....try a google search for what your asking almost every project has a site nowadays with tips and procedures
  11. fishgill double welcome ,when things get smoking on the west end of the lake this spring you shuold consider olcott or oak orchard area for a few days.20 to 40 fish days are not uncommon and thats fishing alone for the most part .....ive considered some of that bigwater fishing and we all here like to expand our thought process(fishing trips)so how about a link or two for some down to earth charters from your area that might have a seat or two open and take a fill in for a percentage of the total cost heck im shure a few of us could put aside our diferences(stand one another)and book a charter maybe do a little trade of trips.all things are possable except you guys bringing Ted Kennedy along ,if you do well bring Hillary and bill and bill dont fish but he could stay home with your wife...Ray K.
  12. thanks maniac,oh for the records general water temp on cayuga 38.5 deg ,43 deg at the so.end in the shallows, hindsite we should of spent the morning in the south end.. 39 deg on seneca... Also i hooked my wire harness from trolling moter to battery .i understand all Hondas come standard with 6 amp charger on pull start,12 on elect start.anyways the 6 amp was very noticable as i operated my riggers with main moter off ,just as fast and strong as if i had my big moter running,so i am confident the 6 amp will keep battery charged running riggers and electronics at trolling speeds.
  13. well as much as my heart wanted to go to olcott,it didnt take me long to figure strong N/E winds mess up fishing on the big pond,,so i decided to hit the fingers ...well we started on cayuga hitting the park, boyscout area then trolled south almost to the sailboat club area,we lost count after 3 fish oh wait we only got 3 fish,we looked deep in our souls(empty cooler) and pulled anchor and headed west (SENECA)....well within ten minutes of getting the boat wet on seneca we(jason) get our first fish, then we (jason) get our next ,and next and next ect.ect.ect. so i changed up my dead side of the boat with maniac's fly (showtime) behind a chrome/green spindocter .that combo started pulliny my weight on my side of the boat. bottom line i got spanked by jason ,he used wire on dypsy and i had power pro in the past it was about the same catch ratio dont know if that was the diff. but its got my brain cell working (slowley).jason also landed a 7 lbr it looked much larger ,due to the long fight that one didnt make it so we (jason) tied it to the side of the boat.overall a good day for starting seneca at 2 oclockish in the 30 not 3 fish day..jason also learned a lesson;;;; when deploying a dypsy (specially wire)and the rigger fires below you imadeatly pop the dypsy and reel it in ....... as to not tangle the two with spindocters on both you could make a time consumming mess....OH WAIT he didnt pop the dypsy like the LAST time i took him out and he DID TANGLE AND MAKE A TIME CONSUMING MESS .....AGAIN.....WELL not to be outdone by his repeated mistake of tangles, now i gotta teach him knot tying 101 as when he went too get his 7 lb prize to put in the cooler the fish managed to climb up the stringer untie itself from the boat and escaped stealing my stringer too  .guess thats how it got to be so big ,my what a smart fish ,or could it be that one of us on my boat was a dumb azz.with that said i look forward to another adventure with jason ,kinda gives us all a little chuckle, thanks bud that will teach ya to outfish me......Ray K.

  20. with the price of fuel where it is ,i feel this site needs to be refreshed.click on the one (top)grey ghost posted go to modis immag. and click on lake tha photo dont lie when the green is stacked so are the fish ,when the flow is backwards clockways the fishing will be worse (as a general rule)....the top center photo on page 2 is bad top center on page 3 is GOOD
  21. welcome . if your fishing fairhaven you might considerTHE BROWN BAGGER.for a name
  22. sounds like your getting something better not to put in ink, grab them ankles.makes me wanna puke just reading about it............
  23. dude talk her cousin out of it simple as that!!!!!!!!!!boy i gotta tell every one how to fish.............
  24. my gues would of been the dypsy depth (had to be) at 2.5 setting a 3 to 1 ratio is a good ballpark for depth so with the riggers at 80 a 240 on the counters would be a starting point for the dypsy rod, with a spinny ya might try droping it out 20 ft more at a time and give it a couple passes .oooohhh by the way if ya noticed where the town barn small garage a little way up on the west side kinda runs parallel to the lake ...um in my scuba days we used to dive on a sunken wooden barge that layes in 70 ft water maybe 80 ft pulled lots of lures and copper from that rig.soooo stay a little deep there specially with a dypsy out to the side .with that wind yesterday (pretty strong) you should of skipped the dypsy and deployed a couple top sticks .chartruse or yellow works great just before dark ,ya need to stop by and ill show you some patterns to use.the bumpy water and , after a day of warming the top bite shuda been there .i almost went up around 4 last night myself instead i sat in the drive way and straightened up the boat a little....ill have to check my phone lines maybe they broke or the battery went dead cause i never got you call to invite me along.....
  25. ya might try a blk/silver yozuri crystel minnow out side board it wont be smoking but when it goes it should be salmon or steelie.pu/silver too..........coho like em in the shallow waters
