  1. troll around them they sorta act like little structure holding bait and the bigger fishes seem to feel a little secure near them , midlake fishing has been pretty hot for the last 2 weeks there still in the top 50 ft water in the middle of the lake did i mention middle of the lake ,i get reports when the fishing is good (my budy likes to brag) and he's been calling a lot latley ,small lures still the ticket hes been doing good with sethgreen rigs but i think (know) riggers would work with short 10ft leads as the waves are getting that extra kick to the spoons add a couple fixed sliders and your good to go..with the zebra mussels and clear water the sunlight getts to deeper water allowing wider weed beds thus more weeds ,more weeds =more hiding for more bait if the eels could get checked up the fishing would explode hmmmmmm i wonder if thats why the bigger lakers are hanging outa temp up high , any scientific peoples out there know the prefferd water temp for eels........???????????
  2. HI my name is alvin and id like to get in your derby. thanks thats Alvin with a "A"
  3. maybe a couple pet snakes would help the problem im shure one of us could slip a couple in there for ya ..whats your slip number.....
  4. I think if we stood on the engine hood with a 12 guage (with blanks) and holler "PULL" and let a couple shots off it might give us some room ,maybe get our owne jail cell too ...
  5. steelhead , this ant the "great lakes angler site" WE know there not accurate if improperly spooled and vary with line let out ,but if you know what your reel is doing and you see a fish at 40 ft on the finder (another non precious measurment) and are familure with the dive ratio of a dypsy,vs speed vs,lure vs, line used, vslure or spinny, being used ,then you can get in the target zone with pretty good sucess without a lot of guess work..this is one very important varyable that can be controlled with min. effort .and at home.
  6. bellows $1000.00 plus and any other serious safty or mechan. problems are some leverage and nessary thoughts to price ..

  8. IF your fishing the sodus pro/am let me tell ya if ya get a big fish on just tighten the drag till your leader snaps or flip the bail and let out all your line and reel in slowley this should tire the fish and put your line in every rod you got out ...hope this helps
  9. dont point and laugh .,their the tidewater 37 lcl i know a 40 dollar reel why even bring it up ,,with a full spool they were pretty close to accurate but i only checked it out to 20 ft ,,but after "the knot" and loosing a lot of line this was my result, i will check all my line counters and add chart to pole if needed ,,, even something as simple as + 20 or -20 as a reminder .
  10. there has been so much talk latley of backlashes I thought id give it a try ,its not all that much fun and takes a lot of time to undo..and if your really good at backlashes you just cut and loose expensive line ..........so anyways yesterday i checked my line counter to actual premeasured distance...50ft actual =75 on line counter,100ft=150ft on counter 150 ft = 227ft counter.. we all know the counters arnt accurate with improper line on spool .i would suggest that you ckeck your counter vs actual and make a chart to keep in the boat or some tape on the rod with actual vs reel counter.. maybe thats why your dypsys arnt working .....or as good as they could last week the thermo line was about 20ft thick so with my dypsy out 160 thinking i was 50ish down i was closer to 33ft down which was way outa temp...soooo as i say...........>>>>>>>
  11. borax, capts.cove and narbys are right at the oak and usually have the hot stuff everyone is having sucess with ,there prices are good and you get to hold it before you buy ....if it ant there you dont need it heck if it is there you probly dont need it but ya better get two just in case.... 14. Jim, the only time i try 4 riggers is when im way out deep and running straight for long ways,in close the currents are pretty goofy as you know all to well ,,center riggers deep with side upper depths helps me a lot ya got to take forever to turn and bump it up a bit helps too also i run the fish weights with just a "slight" bend in there tails to the sides (dont mix up sides like someone did on my boat )and balls down the shoot and i never put release on the weight as it kinda steers the weight around.when the temp drops to 80ft plus i never run more than three and will sometimes pull the downwind side befor the turn kinda a pain but much quicker than a good ol 4 cable weave job in 3ft chop.. ps i have axcess to the fish mould if ya wanna play with some molting lead..
  15. TO ADD TO NY FOREST sorry, to add to nyf ya need a line counter reel to get same amount of line out to get accurate depth ...
