RR,my friend was at catherine last year when the dec showed up to treat creek it was in aug. and the water was ankle deep they claimed the water was lower (flow) was less than what they mixed the treatment for (to strong), so they left......... today i tossed my lines in for a hour got 1 LL maybe 3 lbs it had 3, 7 to 8"eels i released the fish killed the eels.landed 4 rainbows in catherine all had eel marks nefew landed 8 all eel marks aafriend got 4 all eel marks we released all fish so its still 100% eels on seneca fish this year im about ready to pull the plug on seneca except for the derby

pretty good rule of thumb is 1.5 times the length of "dodger" for line length for designed action then tune from there .rotators can handle longer leads due to action theres a whole lot of personal preferences on subject . Ray K.

after rochester head up to the road along the lake to the oak 4 lanes no stop signs maybe 3 cars that time of year just dont speed think its part of the lake trail road system plus much better view .just a thought...Ray K.

you see the time of my post i realized i was home and not at the lake :? couldnt get back to sleep,spent the last 45min on my calulator and came up with the answer of .37 cents also saw where the price of gas is going up again due to NEW NEVER HAPPEND BEFORE HOSTAGE crises.and the president of some oil producing country stubbed his toe so oil production was decreased till he gets his pedicure procedure back on track.at this rate gas will be more expensive than bottled water and well all be trolling with paddle power in canoes.maybe we should meet at long point at 5am start a all day beer blast have a couple wet "t" shirt derbys (can man you can enter with your sheet and bumper sticker)and save some gas money heck we all could get a free ride to the local iron bar hotel (jail),choas pm me with address and ill put my change in the mail. march 31 the docks went in the oak last year ,swung by today gate was locked so i came home ,only did 5 lakers on the bar kinda went hunting for some salmon out deep had some good marks 100 down over 135ft but no takers those lakers were so lame i came home instead of staying another night15 lb biggest 11lb smallest at least in seneca ya get some head shake thanks for the help i launched at the fort thats pretty cool looking up at that cannon and the fort from the water well my adventure fix was satisfied and i drug in some dead weight now i need one of those drag ripping smiles and my cabin fever should be cured

As much as i love to fish the oak i like to explore a little before the docks go in,.....last year i put in at wilson and ran over to the bar but had to wait till sunup to see all the crap floating,.id like to find some cohos and steelies ,pulling some of those 20 lb lakers on the ultra was kinda neat is there a launch at green harbor,, or anything closer to the bar than wilson that i could get a 22ftr launched . thanks Ray K. with the pens going in the oak an sat maybe the state will stick one ramp in by then.?

Maybe if we sent reciepts from bass pro for the year along with letter they would send us a key and let us pick out what we want,the problem i got with helping is i eat the reciepts on the way home so the wife dont know how much i spent ,yup honey when i walked through them doors a alarm went off and a bass pro employee said i was the 100th person through the doors they gave me three bags of stuff for 5.00 .. like someone else here post I hope my wife dont sell my fishing stuff for what i told her i paid for it...........Ray K.

try a little butter on a small area sorta rub it around till it disolves then wash butter off with warm soapy water works for grease without the damage .

T, single or treble will work as far as catching fish,if ya keep em all sharp a dull single hook will set easyer than a dull treble , more important is the size of the hook as to the size of the lure and where your gonna use it in your spread good slider spoon should have lighter hook ,

monel was a popular wire back in the 50s it could be wound on a smaller reel was sorta a in between of pulling copper by hand and the invention ,or common use of downriggers,ive seen it at dicks latley i think the salesmen or purchasers made a mistake and bought solidwire .as far as kink resistent it kinks as well as any wire maybe a little less forgiving than braided,save yourself some trouble change to strainded wire or if your just learning go to power pro braided that ant cheep either but it wont kink,wear guids,cut otherlines,ties easly,and last a long time....i ant no pro but i gotts a couple trial and error hours on the water..Ray K. .......you might be able to make some nice little crafts with that monel and sell them at the docks to offset your real fishing expenses.(like gas)

Good call on the battery site there (can man), between reading dan keatings books on trolling ,the battery website ,and gasoline research, im mentally and mechanicly ready for 2007, now if i can remember what i read on those 500 pages of keatings books ,200 pages of fishfinder manual and sacrafice my beer money for high test and better batteries,i hope those fish are gonna hold up there end of the deal for 2007 or im taking up needle pointing, or knitting,see ya at the craft show, fellas.

thanks , i filled er up with the good stuff and at 3/4 throttle it litterly purred ,,from the power vs throttle position and speed i can see the mpg will more than offset the cost not to mention proper operation after rebuild. did a little research on octane and gasoline and now understand the importance of high test in older moters , i ocassoinally end my post with always learning or never learning after 800.00 rebuild job i think i learnt sumpthing,,,, Ray K.

sunday 8 LL south end lost 3 surface temp 37.8 to 38.4 over 3 degrees colder than last year at same time. last year this day we did about 100 LL today 8 i think the eels are taking toll on the fishes all were taken about 25 ft, didnt get out till about 2:00 in after noon dont know if there was a morning bite,brass sammy pac with added orange ladderback, or/ wh bk dot honey bee,or/wht with diag glow tamerion,stinger superman, only spoons touched , no stickbait bite ,,,,,,,,,,first 4 miles lots of trash every where we need a good north wind for a day to clear the crap off the lake.,,hector outlet was the warmest water i found today also didnt mark any bait but with all the crap the fishfinder was a little confused ,,,,,I hope

today south 10 miles seneca 8 LL all had eels lost 3 pretty slow day ,

With the talk of eels so far lets keep a post going of fish caught ,eel marks ,lake,date,maybe we can get someone from the DEC to notice ...also if we dont do creel survay we not helping ourselves. couple years back i was reading survay reports and i caught more fish i a week than was reported on the survays for the year ........................................................MARCH 07 ,5 LL.caught all had eels attached 1 had 3 on one fish all eels were about 6" which would indacate same year hatch for the eels ,Seneca So. end.........RAY K.
