  1. Well Tom I bashed ya pretty hard when I heard you were so vocal and outspoken towards the Old Pro ?ams...I was always tought to hear both side of the story and not pay too much attention to "HEARSAY" ...Guess i was guilty and a little Assuming of some of the stories ....I heard.. How do I say ."always learning, or never learning"..... Sorry Dude Ray K.
  2. Well dont feel bad a lot of rookies have a hard time on seneca,,,,,tons of bait right now in the south end ya had a lot of food swimmin there for a couple weeks now.. The bite probly will be short and ya gotta be their at the right hour literally..smaller might be the key (lure size) ...also east to west troll some times outproduces the shoreline this time of year... Pay attention to details the south end been gettin spanked regulary for 2 months and lots of educated fish are swimmin there......ya might wanna run up to sawmill area and have a look about ya might be in for a little surprise this time of year....I havent played on seneca for a few years so im running on memory or empty.
  3. Fishfinder Included!!
  4. trollin near the bar at the BN always offered opertunity to land at least 1 but they ant got no teeth, kinda scaley to the touch, and smell more like perfume than fish.

  7. No big fuss just a easy dependable release used from beginers to long time fishermen..
  8. richard says if ya ant back fishing in 1 week he is gonna take yer boat out alone and run a full spread..................In Other Words A Real Speedy Recovery...
  9. Go easy on stoutner ,he ant the britest bulb in the box and thats pretty bad in these new days of florescent bulbs....doing open?
  10. Ahh cottonwood great for pluggin up A/C condensers too...so if we should get some warm weather when this stuff is flying check yer condensers and keep em clean... didnt i say get on the water?
  11. Be the first to the boat get it all set up,be prepared to fish in weather you wouldnt fish in if you were Normal... good washdown system helps clean the deck just in case ,cancelations are nice, then their is the fish cleaning ,guts and carcase disposal, boat cleanup and securing for the night .. then do it all over again tomorrow..at 5 AM. Like I said these guys ant NORMAL to go through that kind of punishment, But their is something SPECIAL about takin folks out for a good time or to see someone check off one of their "bucket list dreams" It takes more than money and a boat to charter you have to LOVE THE SEA and be prepared to relive everyday like the movie 20 First Dates..You can buy a decent lawnmower for 300.00 bucks and make some good money mowing lawns..
  12. im with the 2.4 to 2.7 worked well for me for many trips ,,,,,,dont "shadow"another boat too close but just kinda keep yer eye on boats near ya and compare yer speeds . The west end Usually ant to bad unless ya get a strong N/E blow as far as goofy currents.. the East end might give ya some grief due to predominate west winds and their is almost always 1 or 2 goofy currents at different depths...also use yer ears for thermo depths most charters will chat to each other as to "the zones" (thermocline depth)..Bait will also help ya figure where to "consentrate yer spread" for starters... if yer going one direction and yer "blowback" (cable angle) seems ok at 2.4 gps and ya turn to east with flat cables (straight down) at same 2.4mph then bump it up a tad to get same angle or visa versa. after a few hundred hours you will become tuned with your moter ,cables, and dypsys..the only thing you will never know (unless ya got a real good depth finder and know how to tune it) is the thermocline which is very important as the lake warms.. But even then keep in mind a hungry fish at 20mph can come from 100ft to 50 ft in a couple seconds so if you can get yer speed dialed in to your presentation youll still get fish..maybe not the numbers as some with that info but youll do OK. I always say the 3 s's are the most important --speed---speed---speed...many many fish are cought outa temp I
  13. aww just get yer starter fixed and give us some reports..sometimes its the unwriten reports we all could learn from ,,,,,like how to run 3 big paddles off a 6ft beam and tangle em so bad ya couldnt save em with a sharp knife ,not that I ever had a tangle like that ,,,,,,,,ant know better place to reflect on loved ones lost than floatin on the water doing the things you love.We never know when our number is up so post away, share some of those goof ups ,and ya better get yer butt to the hudson one of these years soon,It was tuff but i think i learnt Buckboard how to hook them big tasty bass...you wont be dissapointed...Im gonna tryfor 1 more trip after our short blowoff day monday..we had 6 good hours did 25ish stripers most were keepers but only a few over 10lbs ..cold water in the creeks flushed the shad outa the small tribs and the bass had all they wanted for food ...need about 3 good sunny days in a row to get the big boys hungry and spawning..then it will be over soon..
  14. very nice of you to take those senior citizens out....
  15. hey i told ya to come down tothe camp and id take you out for some good fishing for free.....maybe next year I know vac time is valuable with family... (Capt. Bish was in the Fla. Keys this winter and it didnt work out for us to get out on my little boat..)
  16. Well now ant you sumpting,,,,,,so the way i read it is you prefer "private viewing" sounds like the red light distrect. hey ant nuttin saying anyone has to report every trip ,holy crap 10,000 guys postin reports could fill a page or two....if ya wanna pm a friend with a "hot spot" ya can do that now,,,,if ya dont want 3000 strangers showing up to yer favorite spot dont be so exact or yer reports..or put down a different lake..
  17. spare battery, spare starter, how about a spare engine ?? I know where their is a polebarn going up maybe stash yer old boat there and get a new one....problem solved...

  19. Yup were home!!! we boated 25 or a tad better lost (to slow) almost as many with only a few over 12lbs It was windy this am ,setteled down by 9 am and got real snotty with outgoing with south wind around 330 and were at dock before 430...20mph sustained wind with 100% chance of rain..wasnt gonna make for a fun daytomorrow,or a restfull sleepover tonight even tho I sealed every leakabout 5 years too late,,,,last week. Did take a new guy and he enjoyed many "fights"..Glade you guys did well maybe we will lick our wounds for a couple weeks and do a return trip....iF i HAD 10.00 EACH weather prediction "Guess" Change in the last 4 days I would of had money left over AFTER PAYING FOR GAS AND BAIT Thanks for the "return tips" they saved some valuable fishing time on such a short trip.. Ray K.
  20. If yer waist exceeds 48" then you qualify for "A SUPER MOON RATING"
  21. happens more than ya think and yer right on with it was probly cracked a while....ive seen many "listing" boats on trailers and probly has the same thing going on..it usually is not whats on top that cracks the spring but our fine roads under the load not to mention a tight turn over the curb gives that spring some added action (so ive been told) springs are inexpensive and some extra time should be taken to inspect "VERY Good" and all the mounting hardware lots going on back there ... I always give my Trailer a good lookin over with the boat off when I can (launch to myself)
  22. Dude ya musta spent a years supply of donut and coffe money for that rig... Good for you Pete...Ya put yer life on the line everyday for "US" you deserve the best and it looks like yer right up there with that tub. Thank You !!!! Ray K. heading to newburgh in about 2 hours ,now thats a friendly town,Cops lock their doors after dark...
  23. million dollar question..........................sharp hooks ????? real sharp drag toooooooooo loose ......................some people lioke the 400 ft run but when the fish turns .........nuttin there.. as the fish is running give the rod a couple good hook sets not a" vandam" bass tourny set......if it ant set good and gets off on the gentle set it would probly get off after the turn and ya ant gott retrive 500 ft line make shure the dypsy "trigger" is gentle or soft release when it trips ,when it trips it flips over and allows for a better hookset with just the trippin action then a freaked out fish might do the rest ................... then the final answer ''''''''''''''''some days they just ant in the agressive mode, maybe something about yer set up has em just a tad spooky so they dont "go for it hard".. also as we all know it musta been a 40lbr cause the BIG ONES always get off.... hope my ideas help ya Speed speed speed ,leaderlength,,,,spinny to fly length ?????????
