  12. Hey thats a great idea!! also if it was cought on copper every boat would be required to run copper that would tighten up the teams a tad (specially when everyone started to reel in the mess) I get first dibs on the scrap copper pile! I just upgrader my rigger cables to 800lb test diamond coated cutting cable.
  13. As a relative newbe for the PRO/AMS I think the computer is a good place for POSITIVE Input for ideas and suggestions... what better place to discuss ideas I went through all 4 pages and didnt see any of it as whining but good folks discussion concerns, ideas, and opinions. A good leader or board will listen and try to help to keep all Ideas on the table when so many different opinions are discussed.. As far as lenghty Capt. meetings from the first meeting 4 or 5 years ago in sodus to the last one in orleanes the NUMBER 1 REASON for lenghty meetings is all the talking during the reading of the rules...I feel embarresed for the moderators when they have to stop and several times ask people to stop the private conversations so the rules can be gone over expessially for the newer teams.. Also I find it very rude when local Event Staff,Sponcers, and others who do much behind the scene work that makes these derbys SUCCESFULL FOR US ALL are introduced to us and the chatter in the room is so loud you cant even hear who they are... So lets play on the computer and discuss ideas with a open mind and when it comes to the Capt.Meetings do as I do look around and see who is chitchatin causing the extended Capt. meetings....Before complaining why their so long.... Thanks Paul and Pete for having the gazingos to discuss new or old Ideas........... And for the Guys who are sitting on the fence as to getting into the PRO/AMS THEIR ARE A LOT OF GREAT FOLKS WHO ENJOY AND PARTICAPATE IN THESE EVENTS.... PRO= professional lets conduct ourselfs that way when discussing the derbys.... Their is plenty of other post we can do the private "bashing " on... Thank You Ray K.
  14. Cannonball ,and cigs187 good to see a couple more rootin for the "no comm" thanks ,its a no brainer ...and the boundries would be a nightmare ,and no we ant gonna retire by winning ....But i would feel better knowing We outfished others on our own ,than win with a phone call.
  15. Thank you for the report ,I as You wish it was a tad better ...we got a few sunny days heading our way soon and someone is trying to clean ontarios drain to drop the lake level a tad too gotta be some big boys to be had real soon with all this poopy weather and drop in fishing pressure.

  18. question with many answers ...water clarity ,depth of rigger,speicies... If ya want to chase the nucence fish steelies, small kings and choho and ya got little color run em tight like tim says.. if ya wanna target browns start at 30 ish to 40ish in shallow colored water (40 to 75 ft) And if ya wanna screemer or two,,water clarity will determine that.in colored water ive had good slider bites to 100 ft out usually run 50 to 75ft back depending on the weather and rigger count...mood of fish time of day sunny ,cloudy...so ya see not one set rules is in order . when i go play with steelies ill run em out 100 cause i like to watch the fish come outa the water before the rigger releases and guess what rigger will pop plus if their back 100 ft to start ant much chance of them gettin in a dypsy or rigger..also its a good speices to learn with cause its the easiest fish to target... Good news is after a few thousand hours on the water youll be ready for every condition the lake tosses at ya.bottom line ifya wanna shorten em up in colored water go for it but clear water and sunny ya might want some distance from the boat..
  19. You shure ya didnt find along the road that looks like landsharks Walleye box.
  20. sounds like vegas What Happens At Sandy Stays At Sandy....Break Out The Sheets. Hey how about a small parade after the derby..
  21. did ya ever hear HOT dypsy fly bite ? how much leader is on a dypsy? yup 6 to 8 ft...run em the same on the ball,.hold a donut at eye level to a fat chick and youll loose yer arm put it at 10 ft and after a couple trys shell give up (DONT DO THIS ON A STEP LADDER). .Fish are the same they can go 25 mph straight but not in circles after a couple misses they move on (well you do). Puttin anything out too fast also will (could ) give ya problems,,toss in a slight turn or cross wind and yer done.. puttin down a multi rigger spread needs to be done into or with the wind and or current. slowturn a must WITHOUT LOOSING SPEED once everything is out if yer balls are trackin 100% then yer spread will follow .. when yer getting below 75 ft ya better have a top notch driver one opps even if it seems minor at the boat will produce a nice rats nest (so ive been told ). below a hundred sould only be tried with two outside with center high,or 1 center deep and 2 outside higher...the smaller the boat the tuffer is is to run a clean spread in less than ideal conditions. Ive said it many times THE DRIVER is the number one reason for a good spread to work.
  22. 15 lbr with a 1500 ft run you shure ya wanna derby fish if so ya might have to replace the 6lb test line with some 20 and snug the drag a tad
  23. some of the 70 s vintage used a coil that is a greenish color and they break down ,sorta dry rot. my experiance with coil leakage is the start ok but drop out with rpms but any coil issue can go from dead, partial leak (drops out) to intermittent,,,something as little as high humidity could explain the cold start issue,,,but total failure will happen and not in the driveway,,,,,,,give hank a call..you can scratch yer head for a week or he will figure it out in 20 min.
