Pro Am Changes???
ray koziatek replied to Paul Czarnecki's topic in Tournament Talk, Shows, Events & Seminars
In the past when bad winds and weather were the prediction ,at the Capt. meeting a any port in a storm was discused...without penalty..but no extension of time..Im shure if tourny control was contacted (maybe) a safty break could of been permitted...With many boxes in line by 10am and 40 to50 by precheck (noon)as the storm rolled in it was gettin close to the 1pm for ams weighin ..the current" Inclamate weather rule" is in place to keep all involved (mostly volenteers) with weighin and scoring and to keep derby running on time as much as possable and safty.. with the possabilty of boats being spread out 20 to 40 miles each way im shure many were missed by the fast moving narrow band storm... With that said tourny control should be prepared for a possiable missguided weather prediction at every tourny, not that it ever happens. with a briefin at the meetings. Maybe any boat that feels they could sit out a fast movin storm could call in on radio with team number ,make note on last fishline filled on score sheet of port, time stoped fishin ,and time left port after storm passed and another call to tourny control to resume fishing.... but no extended fishin time for the above reasons .. It says pretty clear in the rules about bad weather and for those of us who have fished a few of these ,we fished in some conditions that were less than fun............BUT THATS THE PART OF DERBY FISHIN THAT GETS MY BLOOD FLOWING..........tho a gentle wind with nice sun is a good thing for the tanlines...........wanna see? -

ray koziatek replied to Mark Komo's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Ill teach ya salmon you find me some walleye.......if ya hit the oak try runnin 100 ft behind some of the good charters ohh like" Free Spirit "at times he might wave left or right just move to that side a tad then center up..when they pull a big salmon from behind ya just net it as it comes by you wont even need a rod.. but a weed guard and bullet proof windshield might help too and dont get within 50 ft ive seen some charters throw a 10 lb ball up to 75 ft wirh good accuracy.. PS anyone know where i can buy a replacement windshield? -

ray koziatek replied to SEE2FISH's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
yea its a fishin forum and i guess the lack of hundreds of fishermen ,,,struggeling or without jobs all togeather need to hijack and step outa bounds (lou rule no politics) sorta our own little "tea party" First we loose "elmo" the tickler (gulp from my hometown)massa, now were left without a Wiener ...... yup first Elmo ,then our jobs,no they even wacked our Weiner.....Good news Oblama says Weiner will rise again !!! Oh back to the topic well the fish ant complaining ,maybe they gotts tv down there and are lafin so hard that might explain the off bite for the last few days......I wonder if it will help or hinder the guys who run the "Big Weenie" program? -

just remember ya got 18,27,36 lb test lead core available most run 27lb ,,,the lead is the same dia in all weights with the outer coating being the difference...theirfore the 18 lb test with thin coating will run deeper than 36 lb with larger dia coating ((more drag in water too)...most, to the best of my smarts use the 27 lb test ......also dont run a 10 color out IE:6 colors as the lead is still in the end guide and the lead can(will) break with time and wear out the outer coating from the inside out #1 reason for lead failure (with proper drag) 300yds (900ft) might be a tad more tham any salmon will pull out ,we landeda 28 lbr sunday on 15 lb test mono with no problem tho a tad light for derby conditions IMHO Id split a 300 yd spool for 2 rods...

Otter Boat repair
ray koziatek replied to spoonfed-1's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I had otters but for me they took up too much room and with sigle keel i saw no advantage over my cannon collaspable i tweeked the leading edge a tad (not much) tho they pulled perfect new......But i dont run copper off them either tho they will pull a good 8 rod spread with 1 oz keels 4 on each line and 2 lead fine too (each),,,,the best part is folding flat for easy storage...im shure if i could stand running copper a tiny modifacation would have them pullin strong enuf for 1 per side....my old home made make the otters look sick but storage was a problem for them too.......... -

Nice team work and tho a little bumpy (good salmon chop) the ride into the waves comming home shure made for a long ride.... Ive gotta get some deadrise under mee soon that tin can tho set up good has major limitations... Congrats on the come back Im really liking pullin in port (and weighin) not knowing if ya sucked for the day or ya done good....I really hope we ant the only ones reading these post..... Great Job "Billy-V-TEAM" Specially when ya done it on yer own.. how did the knee hold up to those bumps ,sorta like running a 1 hour mogel field without the burn..

Running meat and/or MC Rockets - Low batting Average?
ray koziatek replied to Yankee Troller's topic in Tackle and Techniques
ut oh rick is the king of croc's think he might have the tieing issue too....ill 3rd the side hitting thing thats why i put the eyes on the hook end of most spoons they eat their bait headfirst.....their probly hitting the head to stunn it then release it to finish off the woonded fish and yer pullin it away while their scratchin their head wondering where it went.. Ive had fish in the keys with good eyesight eat (bite) my ballyhoo rig in between the hooks several times while fishing slow hard to belive they miss the trebles but it happens a lot maybe ill do a third hook in between and hide it in the bait,,,,
