  1. We were in olcott many will be in orleans this week....as far as tales ..........who cares
  2. 2years ago many perished, their was a moratorium last year of snook and big change for grouper fishing times...hopefully they will oper the reg. season for grouper this year. And yes 1 year ago Jan 10's of thousands fish hundreds of turtles and thousands of sub tidle shellfish were dead and washed up on shore. Wasnt a pretty site cept to the scavanger birds. but their "bouncin back" pretty good. Looks more like "oldsmar bay" north of 60.
  3. One day the training we learned in boot camp will someday save our lives. This last weekend I had the pleasure of fishing the Pro /Am with team" Hanna Christian". Friday I tried to get some sun but the "Shade" was overwhelming . So it was back to fishing. 3 of us were new to the boat ,Tims Dad ,Tim ,and myself so when we (they) lost a 25 lb class salmon at the net we (they) were shure it was due to the center downrigger cable ,not a item on tims 2 rigger boat. We had a good day ,found some fish and worked on our "Team Efforts". Saturday the Teamwork payed off with some over and under work with dypsys wire never cutting off a fish and netting everyone to the boat. After day 1 we were in 12th but with approx 30 points seperating the top 12 teams we all were in the running..Sunday we pretty much stayed in the same waters after some color changes due to different water conditions (gettin clearer) we got the Ice breaker and picked away till noonish when our limit was reached. The line was much shorter and only 2 Am teams were weighed in so our hopes were high others gambled on big fish with out their 9 fish limit. well we were getting shoved down the list pretty fast but held on for a #7th finish (lowest payout position for the Am devision.).... When the awards started after a long pause due to a rule infraction ,we all discovered one of the boats that outfished us shoved off a tad early (2 min) and got a penalty which put us in 6 th place in overall awards. Lesson learned the hard way for a team that put togeather a good program ,But kinda Broke One of the rules..My heart goes to you guys ya done good on the water. Oh and why the boot camp stuff? Well Saturday morning on my first trip to the van at 4 am good oll Mr.Turtle decides to stick his head out.. I wasted no time up the steps to the room and found the bathroom "occupied " by Tim. Little did i know that the smoke rolling out from under the door was not from him smokin. Hearing the flush confirmed my fears ,but Mr. Turtle was relentless ,So I took a deep breath and rushed into the fog. The first 45 seconds went well but a little hesatation ,Brought back my Bootcamp training IN THE GAS ROOM ,with eyes watering, nose burning and putred taste in my moulth I finished quick and rushed to FRESH air....Thank You SGT. MILLER for training me so well! Needless to say we had a great time during the derby with good results at the END Thank You Howie Jr. ,Tim, Tims dad , And Howie Sr. opps and a great Driver too.(The most important part of a sucessful fishing trip) A true team effort was used to place in the Pro/AM derby.. So as I have said in the past Get a team togeather and give one of these derbys a try. The folks ya meet and the Pro/Am atmosphere will get ya hooked into a new experiance you wont soon forget.. Ray K.
  4. Just Pm'd musky and he said he didnt launch at that time , did notice a real strong current flow in olcott after weighin just thought it was runoff from the rain as it was outgoing .. I did feel some rumbling in the boat but it was one of my teammates..
  5. Capt. Pete I Thought I was Gonna have to report another AM boat was giving clues as to what they were using...While passin another Am boat I saw this :mooning: ,my mind was torn between pullin our setup and changing to the" Proctoligst "or the "Crazy Bit@h' fly...then i turned to the crew for any info to the "browneye Spoon"?? But was informed this is a common greeting between competators during the derby. To protect the "Gill-T" party i wont mention the team till further investagation .
  6. Capt. Pete , Thanks for your efforts .Despite the No Com. Many of the teams that finished "In the money" jumped on board with this and did very well..... Five outa seven in the ams were no com.. If the above list is complete...?
  7. Hey ya done good , loosing a few is part of the game and with a few 20 lbrs landed you could of took home some money in the Pro/Am Derby...............Hmm Gotcha thinkin for next year?
  8. Trouble with fishin without a puter onboard . I cant bash everyone when needed.. so yer safe for this time . I see all went well , its a day we call our own (birfday) tho its shared by many. but when shared by family it dont get no better...................(sometimes )
  9. WoW another Bass tourny?
  10. ps. THESE are not the final award results but are the accurate fish catch points results. One team did a little "woopsy" by leaving the dock a few minuts early and had 20 points deducted moving us Team 401 from 7th to 6th in the standings. Thank You "Team Hanna Christine " Team 401 ,for allowing me to bash you for 3 days of great fishing and time spent for this event. (will post Real Story later)
  11. Thanks Mark, just goes to show the fish brought in dont go to waste several needy community groups benifited from our efforts. Im shure the air will be filled with some smoke" (smoked salmon) also around the lake. Not to mention "Muskys" chowder recipie might take a few "hits" in the next few days. A good Time was Had by all despite a" few clouds"" and a little storm chased a few boats in early saturday.. the 40 pluss coolers at the weigh in before the noon starting time for prefish check indacated the GREAT Catching experianced shared. The "NO COMMUNICATIONS" gentelmans agreement goes to show many Great Teams "DID IT ON THEIR OWN" This was not manditory and in no way had any direct connections with the Pro/Am Rules . But was well recived by MANY who wanted to DO IT ON THEIR OWN. Thank You to those responsable for help organizing this No Com. Agreement, tho sunday after a 2 hour shutdown for us ,with fun gone to serious fishing really tested our skills WITHOUT A PHONE CALL !
  12. Ok Ok Tom before this gets outa hand and ugly (pic of my back). Please explain to 7000 fishermen why your looking at "HAIR OR ANY TYPE OF FASHION SITES".
  13. OMG now ya let the cat out of the bag ....I curl up and sleep next to you for 3 days and have to find out about yer birfday on line !!! I feel soooo used Hava great day "Timmy"
  14. Jimski,is right on,he has more time on the water than most of us have on this planet. Definatly do not use the words "mayday, mayday, mayday" in that situation, but a bilge failure, and a few more miles off shore could of been a" mayday "situation. This is a perfect situation to encourage and remind everyone to take a "BASIC BOATING COURSE " and step it up a notch and take a "POWER SQUADRON BOATING COURSE" THE FEW DOLLARS AND HOURS SPENT is well worth the info and PROPER safty procedures you will be tought.. Also your using a great info source (puter) to post this so poke a few searches ,do a little "safty inspection" on your own boat, keep engine area clean.. Good post !!!! With a GOOD ending.. thank youfor sharing you may have just saved a life...
  15. a 14 lb ball and a 14 ft boat go the same speed depnding on the drivers experiance . I have a good friend um lets call him "FISHERMAN" OR tom SO NO ONBE KNOWS WHO IM TALKIN about he opened his boat up with his ball down the boat did 25mph and the ball reached approx.10 mph ((with probe) till the rigger spooled and snaped the cable.. I belive the ball, cable, and probe are doing "0" mph for the last year Probly after he got so excited about the 14 lb laketrout he just cought and was running home to eat for dinner
  16. yea a few over were hooked, over1600 for the derby around 13,000 lbs.......
  17. hope and change, my friend
  18. Bring the boat I hear their is some GREAT BASS fishing up there!!!
  19. when i unclamped and layed down this morning to glue top thats Exactly was my first thought...hmm new Buisness "Ray's Discount Coffins"
  20. well after 13/14 years we slipped out of the derby on seneca. . . . . . . so i break out the drafting table and draw a very detailed elaborate plan for a wood project.. then after finding out the price of lumber i thought i would put a little memory of my real dad who died in 1984 . So iwent to the attic of his garage pulled out some planking thats been drying sence 1964 from the newspapers found up there. . . . well my neighbor let me use his woodshop to rekindle a little flame from 7th grade wood shop Gulp 1970..so out comes the planer to freshin up the wood . . . then with the help of a smart stick(ruler) and pencil i start following my detailed blueprint makin lines here and there few swipes with a saw a little glue opps a little more precision cuttin my 3 day (had to wait for glue to dry) tinkering made it this far... . . . between the heat puttin in the garden mowing and watchin the yankee baseball cut into MY shoptime makin it hard too get to far couple more assembly days 20 packs of sandpaper little stain and trimmin will have a EXACT match to my blue print....Hmm boy some nice cabnets in the boat might be nice naaaa better finish this .. .. guess its been so long sence ive fished gotta post about somthing........
  21. the flasher storage first 4 i got from dicks several years ago for 16.00 each ,then basspro got some for 22.00 think the last couple i got were from gander,,,,the old ones from dicks were the first i found and the "slots" for storage were just a tad narrow and if ya ant carefull sorta pealed back the stick on colors ,the slot problem was quickly addressed ( by some one ) and shortly a extra 1/32th of a inch was added as suggested..as ya see i keep the old standby flys attached for starters . If ya noticed it dont take much more than gr/silver/wh/and maybe a few dots to keep the fish in a playfull mode.. PS. if ya need some backup support on spoons to the wife, i can go to wide angle shot at the spoon boxes i got rid of a few hundred but still3 or 4 um hundred to go .........."hey mister wanna buy a spoon"
  22. like rollie said if you checked all the common sence stuff its in the foam ...i was amazed last summer when replacing floor how heavy wet "floation foam" is. one small pc 20 in x 24 x 2 in thick was 27 lbs.......(approx size) so if yer feet ant wet fishing and yer talking bathroom scales dont say "One At A Time Please" id bet yer standing on the problem. Its amazing how many boats i drive past along the roads with the bow lower than the stern..
  23. I like my reports because I actually went fishing ,just had the "boat police" show up this morning and they said if i dont move the boat to some water soon they will take it away from me and give to someone who still fishes...............so I guess i better force myself to get some "lake water"under it soon......hmm shade any little slips open might have to extra prefish despite thewind wed.
