A lot has been said about the DEC not having the "State of Lake Meeting" anymore. There new approach is to be out in public trying to do more interactive meetings to keep people informed on the Fishery. This is one of those meetings and attendance is important. You don't have to be a member to attend. Thank you Brian

Wanted Reverse rotation 305/350
Tall Tails replied to RH93's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
Atlantic marine probably has one in stock. -
2nd vote for BW customs. He is the only guy I let touch my boat when it comes to glass work. Bill and Billy are the best.

Simrad really needs to have the speed input so it knows how fast you are going. Do you have it tied in to a GPS? If not I would start there.

With the North wind tomorrow you are better off running north up by the pond. same depth of water. It will be a lot more comfortable.

LOL!! Just to get you caught up on Great Lakes History that decision on stripers vs salmonids was made in the 1960's.. And rightly so. As someone who has guided for both and caught plenty of both species the striper cant hold the KINGS beer! A striper makes no blistering initial run like a king and a striper is a quiter...

Sabiki rigs. Make sure you cut one hook off so you are not over the hook point limit. Do it during the day.

ELOSTA Meeting June 15th with Guest Speakers from the DEC
Tall Tails replied to Tall Tails's topic in Open Lake Discussion
I think the management plan is more like Wild fish are going to be considered in the overall biomass when making hatchery decisions. I don't see it as lowering our inputs from the hatchery Not yet anyway. -

New electronics Simrad vs Garmin
Tall Tails replied to slice o life's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Simrad or Garmin is a Great choice. Raymarine has a long way to go on there fish finding capabilities. I think the one thing that separates Simrad and Garmin is the specific mapping choice for Lake Ontario. The Simrad Platinum Card has superior detail to any other brand. As far as Radar, Autopilot they are relatively the same. I love my Simrad units and I see no reason to change at all. Now I do have a stand alone Garmin for Panoptics as well so that could be another consideration. -
Boat control with trolling bags
Tall Tails replied to Seabass73's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Also make sure if it is a single bag you are running on the side of the boat the prop is spinning too. So standard rotation spinning to the starboard make sure the bag is on the starboard side. Also Ricks's suggestion of two smaller bags on each side could fix it as well. -
Check around but Familiar bite has gone out of business. ATOMMIK can set you up with what you need.

Browns In Oswego Harbour
Tall Tails replied to Adk1's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Yes they are in there. -
Charter Lakes. However everyone's rates are on the rise. Cost of doing business. Gotta love NYS requirement of 1 million in liability on Charter boats.

Unfortunately due to the location and layout we can not have any speakers this year. Our main focus was to have the swap. Look for a more "Normal" event next year! See you Saturday!
