  1. That sucks!!! In Oswego at wrights landing we spend 30 minutes putting all equipment away cant take any chances anymore. Hope you find the thieves.
  2. Probably the first intelligent thing you have posted on this board!
  3. They operate out of the region 7 office. Dave Lemon is the Boss.
  4. Large Males always show up first in the Eastern Basin. Just a trend that has always occured! The ladys are always a little later!
  5. I call that Natural Selection! Catch them before they breed!
  6. I just hung up with Dan Bishop at the reg 7 office he is Dave Lemons Boss. Anyway the plan is to hold the water at 185 till mid sept then increase it to 385 which is enough to bring the fish up for the egg take in October. They are considering closing the Lower Fly section of the river like in 2007. One thing they are banking on that maybe different is the number of fish returning should be much higher this year then it was in 2007. At least they learned a few things from 2007 and know what to expect. Like everyone has said we all need to hope for some rain!!! He is going to keep me updated on this so if I here more I will keep you guys updated! I am going to go do a rain dance now. Brian
  7. I would agree with the closing however they dont start taking eggs till a certain point in October due to viability of the egg. There are fish knocking at the door of the hatchery right now. A friend was there yesterday. However the viability of those eggs are zero. I have a call into Dave Lemon to see what there plan is. I will update when I hear more. Thanks for posting Rick. Brian
  8. They don't call Ginny the tape lady for nothing! Best shop around if your looking for custom! [ Post made via Android ]
  9. Jons in Mexico has them all
  10. I went down to the boat this am. It happened on the Red dock dont know to what extent. The Boats I know looked fine to me. I looked over Blue dock and everything looked fine there.
  11. I let my customers put it out! It is a night and day difference.
  12. Call Larrys tackle shop, Jim works for him.
  13. May is the time frame for walleyes in Oswego at night.
  14. The hard part about a thread like this is its really only maybe 15 guys. There are a lot of opinions out there that never make the board really the other side of the coin. I would agree with just about everything that has been said in the thread so far. I was asked to be part of the committee to help reshape what we had. Did I agree with all of it? Not all of it. I talked in depth with various people about what they wanted to see and also what they thought of the format. Was it perfect by no means but there are no perfect large tournaments. We have a lot of choice now as as anglers on the lake when it comes to big money events. I am not talking about the Saturday 50 to 100.00 fun runs. I am talking about the 500 to 1000.00 entry tourneys. 6 fish, one day, salmon tourneys have caught on here, do they have there place? Sure do! They fill a niche! We have our 12 fish, 2 day tourneys. Do they have there place? Sure do! They also fill a niche. I think the structure of the pro/ams was trying to appeal to both of those. Was it perfect? NO Can we work on making it better? SURE CAN!! There is not a perfect tourney on the lake everyone of them is open to improvement and constructive disscussions will help. When I was asked to be on the committee I looked into the michigan tourney scene a lot. I looked at there rules, the formats and so on. They have been doing this a heck of a lot longer then the organizations here in NY. Google some of those major events and take a look at there formats and rules. Some of them maybe eye openers to you. Example of one that they have that we dont: "If you win the am div in a tourney the following year you are fishing it pro". Just an example of a rule that may have helped us over the years. One thing we have with our series that they dont is an overall season champion and I happen to think that sets us apart! I dont want to be considered the LOU spokesman but I can tell you the committee is reading all the forum threads and are looking to the future in 2013. I will be sure to pass along any and all concerns that are posted.
  15. 2 best days of owning a boat- The day you buy it and The day you sell it! Sorry for your frustrations! No excuse for poor customer service!!
  16. This was Marlenes boat! I cant believe your selling it! This is a PROVEN FISH CATCHER!!!!!!!!
  17. Thanks Rick, I would like to go back and try the west coast of the island just for the monsters. They were saying its big water but in big boats....25ft Gradys! LOL!!!!!!! Maybe someday Its hard to leave our Lake but it was worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat. They couldnt get over my description of our programs they looked a me like I had 2 heads..
  18. It was a Great Experience! Ray, It was COLD!!! Water temp was 63 on the surface. It was a cold ride in the boat mainly cause it was an open boat but we hit great weather. The guides were in Mustang suits in the morning to stay warm. Our guide was in shorts and a tshirt on the afternoon trip we were in sweatshirts and rain pants. With the HOT weather we had at home it was a big shock to us. As far as the fight of the fish they pull the other rod and stop the boat so in that respect it is a little different. The gear is a bit different as well with the mooching reels which by the way are a BLAST!! I will be adding these to the arsenal on the big lake. I would say over all the fight is about the same. The spots on the tail and the body looked more vivid to me then the lake. We thought the freshwater may wash the color out a little. One other interesting note they tag and clip every fish from there hatchery system. And have for the last 8 years with no intention on stopping like our DEC has.... They have Kings return on occasion that are 6 years old
  19. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water: Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: Total Boated: Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Very interesting and completely different from our fisherie we are truely blessed! Got in the boat for our first trip on thursday morning. A 17ft whaler with a 50 yamaha. 2 riggers (Scotties are the only rigger that exists for saltwater fishing) 2 rods and both rods had 11in green squares and squids. We ran about 8 miles to the Strait of Georges first rigger went in 265ft down second rigger went in 240ft down. Round balls no fins And we trolled that was the program. Lots of Chat with our guide Russ about water. He was very interested in hearing about Junk lines and Thermoclines and even spinnies! They have had zero success with flies in the Lodge we stayed at. But with only 2 rods fishing they really cant play with anything on a different line. One think I got a chuckle about was all the guides were interested in what a "free slider" was. We heard when we got there the fishing was slow. Well that was the case, I did manage to catch one King about 23 pounds in our first 4 hour trip. We got back to the dock and booked a second trip for the afternoon. Thursday afternoon- We left the dock at 4 with a different guide "Travis". We headed North to Browns Bay. Browns bay was a ledge that went from 140 to 250, we fished down the edge of the ledge. Travis was great and Marlene and I had a great time with him. Travis's program was a green square and a squid on one side and a green square with an anchovy on the other side. And he showed me how to tweak a whole bait BC style Can wait to give this a shot on Lake O! We did manage a few bites on this trip. Marlene boated a 15lber and a few "DOGFISH" sand sharks which they hate! The one thing that was interesting on this trip was there were Pink salmon everywhere that evening and we didnt target those at all Its King Salmon or nothing... Bald Eagles, Seals and Black tailed deer were everywhere. The mountains were unbelievable Friday morning- As it turned out we should have stayed in bed. Got down to the dock and got our assigned guide for the day. We were going to fish with Steve. Steve has been fishing the area for 35 years so I was very interested with what he would have to offer. As it turned out Steve maybe a little burned out, we never had a bite and "Steve" didnt try real hard to get one. The riggers moved twice once when he put the paddles in and once when he pulled them out. Other then Friday Marlene and I had an Awesome time!! We will go back at some point maybe to the west coast of the island and try for the DOUBLE TYEES!! The 60lbers we heard about! Also a big Thank you to the guys at SCOTTY who were super nice during the tour of the factory on wednesday pretty cool seeing how it all goes together. And for all there help in making our trip a Great Time! I will upload some pics when I get a minute! One little side note the only derbys they have are one day, one big fish shootouts. 1,000 dollars to run one rod and 2,000 dollars entries if you want to run 2 rods! Grand prize is 100,000!!! WOW!!!!!! Brian This is what the boats looked like My first Pacific King 23lbs Marlene's first Pacific Salmon Good shot of our views from the Boat HEAVEN!!! Scotty releases before packing1 Painters Lodge fishing resort A Pair of 76 pound Kings taken at the lodge. The largest fish taken there.
  20. Very well said from a class individual! See you at the next one Jerry! [ Post made via Android ]
  21. Hhhmmm think I missed the positive in your post. I didn't fish all of them either mainly due to financial reasons but I didn't need to complain about the entry fee on a public forum. And yes do I agree with all of it? No but I dislike the alternative even more. [ Post made via Android ]
  22. Right on... I support any and all tourneys and derbys on the lake and its a matter of getting it right before its released to the public. But since I guess a few tourneys are perfect I will be waiting to see a perfect winners list this saturday at 310 since weigh closes at 3 for the Sandy shootout. Oh and when its posted it better be perfect! Dont change it on me monday morning! Mistakes happen it doesnt matter if its a 1000.00 buy in tourney or a 75.00 sat fun run. I want to see it right when its released not changed a few times with apologies. We are all human!
  23. Really the lines are crooked thats your complaint?? I think I have heard it all now. The women who VOLUNTERED Her time to help with the score board has an issue or to. I guess if you think you can draw straighter lines the tourney directors will all be waiting for you guys to volunteer your time! The pro ams were all done very well and there were a lot of very happy fisherman BIG THANKS goes out to all who participated and helped run the events!
