  1. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water: Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: Total Boated: Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Very interesting and completely different from our fisherie we are truely blessed! Got in the boat for our first trip on thursday morning. A 17ft whaler with a 50 yamaha. 2 riggers (Scotties are the only rigger that exists for saltwater fishing) 2 rods and both rods had 11in green squares and squids. We ran about 8 miles to the Strait of Georges first rigger went in 265ft down second rigger went in 240ft down. Round balls no fins And we trolled that was the program. Lots of Chat with our guide Russ about water. He was very interested in hearing about Junk lines and Thermoclines and even spinnies! They have had zero success with flies in the Lodge we stayed at. But with only 2 rods fishing they really cant play with anything on a different line. One think I got a chuckle about was all the guides were interested in what a "free slider" was. We heard when we got there the fishing was slow. Well that was the case, I did manage to catch one King about 23 pounds in our first 4 hour trip. We got back to the dock and booked a second trip for the afternoon. Thursday afternoon- We left the dock at 4 with a different guide "Travis". We headed North to Browns Bay. Browns bay was a ledge that went from 140 to 250, we fished down the edge of the ledge. Travis was great and Marlene and I had a great time with him. Travis's program was a green square and a squid on one side and a green square with an anchovy on the other side. And he showed me how to tweak a whole bait BC style Can wait to give this a shot on Lake O! We did manage a few bites on this trip. Marlene boated a 15lber and a few "DOGFISH" sand sharks which they hate! The one thing that was interesting on this trip was there were Pink salmon everywhere that evening and we didnt target those at all Its King Salmon or nothing... Bald Eagles, Seals and Black tailed deer were everywhere. The mountains were unbelievable Friday morning- As it turned out we should have stayed in bed. Got down to the dock and got our assigned guide for the day. We were going to fish with Steve. Steve has been fishing the area for 35 years so I was very interested with what he would have to offer. As it turned out Steve maybe a little burned out, we never had a bite and "Steve" didnt try real hard to get one. The riggers moved twice once when he put the paddles in and once when he pulled them out. Other then Friday Marlene and I had an Awesome time!! We will go back at some point maybe to the west coast of the island and try for the DOUBLE TYEES!! The 60lbers we heard about! Also a big Thank you to the guys at SCOTTY who were super nice during the tour of the factory on wednesday pretty cool seeing how it all goes together. And for all there help in making our trip a Great Time! I will upload some pics when I get a minute! One little side note the only derbys they have are one day, one big fish shootouts. 1,000 dollars to run one rod and 2,000 dollars entries if you want to run 2 rods! Grand prize is 100,000!!! WOW!!!!!! Brian This is what the boats looked like My first Pacific King 23lbs Marlene's first Pacific Salmon Good shot of our views from the Boat HEAVEN!!! Scotty releases before packing1 Painters Lodge fishing resort A Pair of 76 pound Kings taken at the lodge. The largest fish taken there.
  2. Very well said from a class individual! See you at the next one Jerry! [ Post made via Android ]
  3. Hhhmmm think I missed the positive in your post. I didn't fish all of them either mainly due to financial reasons but I didn't need to complain about the entry fee on a public forum. And yes do I agree with all of it? No but I dislike the alternative even more. [ Post made via Android ]
  4. Right on... I support any and all tourneys and derbys on the lake and its a matter of getting it right before its released to the public. But since I guess a few tourneys are perfect I will be waiting to see a perfect winners list this saturday at 310 since weigh closes at 3 for the Sandy shootout. Oh and when its posted it better be perfect! Dont change it on me monday morning! Mistakes happen it doesnt matter if its a 1000.00 buy in tourney or a 75.00 sat fun run. I want to see it right when its released not changed a few times with apologies. We are all human!
  5. Really the lines are crooked thats your complaint?? I think I have heard it all now. The women who VOLUNTERED Her time to help with the score board has an issue or to. I guess if you think you can draw straighter lines the tourney directors will all be waiting for you guys to volunteer your time! The pro ams were all done very well and there were a lot of very happy fisherman BIG THANKS goes out to all who participated and helped run the events!
  6. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water: Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: Total Boated: Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Had 2 trips saturday. First trip the guys decided to show up at the boat at 7 instead of 5 So I went Brown trout fishing for there 4hour trip we managed to put 5 in the boat. The browns were all very high in the water. 30ft mono divers were the ticket they were probably fishing around 14ft down. Super Slims were the bait of choice. We worked about 45 ft of water east of the harbor. The BTs were high in the water column all weekend. Saturday afternoon- Good customers of mine so I wanted to try for some salmon. Got a few decent reports of a few being caught west of the harbor. So we set our sights for 250ft of water about 8 miles to the west. I set down on a vapor screen...Nice call Capt... So I set the autopilot on a northwest troll. We got to 387 and the diver takes off. Lesson one for the day "DONT SET THE HOOK ON THE DIVERS"!! The picture there was ok but not what I was looking for so we kept trolling. 435 the same diver takes off again.. AND AGAIN WE TRY AND SET THE HOOK Ok so after we had fishing lessons again we are still on a Northwest troll got to 622 and all heck broke lose we doubled diver and core take off ok we got 1 out of 2 well its a start. After that we did well catching steelhead and kings for the next 2.5 hours until we got there limit. All range of age class kings from 5lbs to 27lbs and a bunch of steelhead in the 4 to 9lb class. Our stud was the Blood Run wire out 180 and 220. And 300ft Blood Run Coppers pulling Chrome chips with B flys. Hot spoons were Warrior green dolphins on the riggers down 30. Kings are there they just higher in the water column then we are used to. The temp would break over at 37 ft. When I turned for home I was 16 miles northwest of Oswego. Good Luck to all fishing the last week of the derby. I am off to British Columbia to the Campbell River for some salmon fishing.
  7. I stripped all mine off and threw it in the trash. 2 sharks and 2 probes to the bottom of the lake was enough. If you are running it on the new HP scottys beware.
  8. I love my 585! I dont really see the new 587 as a huge step up. You maybe able to get a 585 on close out at a great price.
  9. Big Thanks to Bob Cinelli for a GREAT SEMINAR last evening! Lots of info on catching Steelhead and very interesting on his take between both ends of the lake when it comes to catching them.
  10. http://www.history.com/shows/great-lake ... rs_Content Looks like it may be pretty good.
  11. Please join us Wednesday Night at 7 pm at the Mexico VFW for our monthly meeting and seminar! The VFW is on rte 3 headed north out of town. There is large helicopter in the parking lot. The meeting is under the pavillion. This months seminar is by Bob Cinelli of Bob Cinelli's Sportfishing he wil be talking to us about locating and targeting Offshore steelhead. Bob runs out of Olcott NY and has been in the business for 25 plus years this should be VERY interesting!!! See you all then. Brian
  12. No, only 27 that were in the Pro-Am. One had to drop out. The Oswego Pro-Am was fun but the odds were stacked in favor of the the teams with the big fast boats. On Saturday many of them raced off to fish in front of Sodus and they got their 12 fish limit and raced back. The smaller and slower boats could not make that trip and as a result they ended in the bottom field. Sunday was hard for everybody, but again the teams with the most advanced electronics could go searching for fish at a relatively high speed. Yes, participation was fun,but I got away with the feeling this new setup is stacked against the weekend warriors. Noting that only 28 teams signed up, shows that a lot of last year's participants voted with their feet. It is also interesting that a few weeks ago we got an e-mail informing us about the price money based on forty participating teams, while never mentioning the actual number of participants at the time. I think that next year we will also vote with our feet. There was not one limit of kings brought to the scale so that is false. There also were maybe one or 2 teams that went to Sodus and did not get the job done. The bite in Sodus was to unpredictable. It was an offshore bite. Weekend warriors did very well cashing checks. Yankee One and Finders Keepers just to name a few. Also my $128.00 thru hull transducer works very well marking fish while running 27 mph... As far as the email it did not state that there was 40 boats it was showing you what the potential was. There is a lot more here then meets the eye and I am sure going forward there will be some discussion but all in all it was a FUN tournament by all and well run, so my hats off to Dave Turner and Oswego County for putting on a great tourney once again and if you missed it, well your loss. Capt. Brian Team Tall Tails

  21. Nice job! It was Good fishing in the Eastern basin over the weekend! The steelhead limit in the lake is part of your salmon and trout limit. Only in the tribs is one. Took this from the regs for you. "3 in any combination not to include more than 1 rainbow trout (or steelhead) in the tributaries" I could have waited till after you fished the A TOM MIK Challenge this weekend...
  22. TTT just a heads up guys also cant return into the harbor until after 11..
  23. Thanks for your effort Rick!
  24. I still haven't seen the data that says they will raise the water 18in. They are raising it to "mean" water depth earlier and later. There is a tremendous amount of inaccurate data floating around on this issue. You need to look at the entire chart Longline posted not just a yr or 2. [ Post made via Android ]
