Looking for Deck chairs (2)
Tall Tails replied to Irish Knots's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
Just get your wallet out and go buy 2 at West Marine Besides you allowed sitting in your boat on tourney day?? Rookie mistake! I thought you were trained better then that! -
1.93/1 RATIO-Freshwater used only 1200hrs. Great condition. Pics available upon request. Was on a Volvo 305. Comes with cooler and hoses. Transmission is in Syracuse, NY. Buyer picks up or pays shipping. I have replaced both transmissions on my boat. This transmission to rebuild will cost you $6500.00 or more. $3500.00 or B.O. [email protected]

Pro Am Changes???
Tall Tails replied to Paul Czarnecki's topic in Tournament Talk, Shows, Events & Seminars
Not for nothing Pete but I hope we arent turning into an agreement based tournment series.....Its getting a little on the old side....The comm issue is whole different animal but to turn each local grip into an agreement situation..the old quote that comes to mind is "Quit your ****in and get to Fishin"! That is certainly not directed at you Pete but as a general statement to mutiple "agreements at tourneys". -
Pro Am Changes???
Tall Tails replied to Paul Czarnecki's topic in Tournament Talk, Shows, Events & Seminars
Bill hit this one on the HEAD!! The county boundary issue is completely unenforceable!! It is a Tournament where you live and die by your choices as a captain. Just about every tourny boat at the Oak had the capability to run, it was the captains or team choice as to if they wanted to or not. Heck we were the last ones to the west party and the first ones to leave each day due to boat and fuel constraints...We fished a total of 7.5hrs in that tournament and finished one fish out of the money. Those are the chances you take in these. Go Big or Go Home comes to mind! I applaude those who made the choice and got it done! Lets ge this comm issue taken care of and get back to what made these tournaments GREAT!!! See everyone in Oswego! Brian Team Tall Tails -
I could do that but like I said its all relative. I am using the x-4 for temp mostly after reading a certain BT article in GLA last year I just look at the units when I get a bite and I know what speed I am going with. I just go by my raider.

Running meat and/or MC Rockets - Low batting Average?
Tall Tails replied to Yankee Troller's topic in Tackle and Techniques
I dont think 2 singles in tandem could hurt you. Same way we run squids in the fall. -
I have run a Depth Raider for the last 4 years and I love it. I added an X-4 this year as I needed a second temp system and I could run it on any rigger. It took some time to dial in the X-4 as it wasnt stellar out of the package, but a few calls to them and it was working. Interesting little tid bit there is .4 speed difference between the raider and the X-4, and I confirmed this with another boat that also has both. I know my program catches fish at 1.9 on the raider and that is 2.3 to 2.4 on the X-4. Food for thought. When it comes right down to it speed is relative as long as you know whatever unit you have on your boat works for you and your program. The coated cable does not bother me and has relativley little blow back with a 15pd shark. I run the new 180pd stainless High Performance cable from Scotty and 15pd Sharks all the riggers are equal. Again this is the Chevy, Ford, Dodge Discussion there are pros and cons to all the units. I will say this there maybe something to the red blinking light on the X-4 probe.... That rigger has been HOT!!! It could be the bait or the probe only time will tell....

Scotty power grip release location on torpedo weights?
Tall Tails replied to chowder's topic in Tackle and Techniques
There is that monkey wrench! This could be another to each his own topic! I ran 13pd torpedoes forever and I did attach the release to the back until I read an article on this. One day in super clear water I loaded a rod and watched the weight about 20 ft down and noticed I was pulling the tail of the weight up. I run 15pd Sharks now and they dont have a hole in the tail. Of course this could depend on how much you load your rod. Everyone does that differently. I use capt jack releases for kings and I load the rod so there is nothing left. I also put the rod as close to the water as possible. Most of the time I have to help the kings get the lure out of the release. Since I started doing this our hook up ratio has increased dramatically. Especially in the fall when there mouths are turning rock hard... Just something to chew on! See you this week Glen!!! Its time! -
Scotty power grip release location on torpedo weights?
Tall Tails replied to chowder's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Its not really a good idea to attach the release to the downrigger weight. It does take away from there planning capabilities. Remember you want to load the rod as much as possible while salmon fishing and you will pull up on the back end of the weight when doing this. I dont load the rod as hard while brown trout fishing because of there soft lips.. If you dont want to clip the release to the swivel add an extra and attach it there. -
I would look into Sea School. 2 weekends and every night for a week, then study a week and test. Done... Best program you can do and they dont stretch it out for weeks. www.seaschool.com

I must say after spending the day on this boat it is very nice! I was hesitant about the outboard but I was proved very wrong! This is one sweet ride! The deck space will rival any 28-33ft fishing boat out there. And it sips fuel, I didnt see the gauge move all day!

Franks is great outfit to deal with! I ordered some spoons overnighted to Olcott once 2 days before a pro-am. I was on the phone with the women making the order and I told her what we were doing, she said I should try a variation of one of the spoons I was ordering and she threw a few in with the order. Long and short of it, the spoon she threw in won the Don Johannes tourney for us and is now a go to tourney spoon for us.

I like the "togue" reference! I cut my teeth on them on Sebec Lake till I was about 12. Thats where I got the trolling bug!! -
Have you considered approaching your insurance company with this? Just a thought to ease the pain a little. What was the cause of the blow up?

West end Pro Ams entry deadline
Tall Tails replied to Time Out's topic in Tournament Talk, Shows, Events & Seminars
I got a letter from Niagara county in the mail the other day and caught me totally of guard myself...... Also the East end registration date is June 1st. It says all entries can be done on the website. None of the ports this year are able to take entries by hand. -
Are you sure your braid is spinning on the spool and not allowing you to reel? Electrical tape on the spool will prevent this.

Remember when it comes time! http://nation.foxnews.com/culture/2011/ ... ne-factory Not against putting americans to work but......at what cost... I have said before putting these on a farm in the middle of nowwhere I can handle. BTW there are 3 local coal fired power plants being moth balled in the next year due to lack of demand....

If you lift your engine hatch you still have no access to the underside anywhere? I have had to use a 24in socket extension to reach mine. Not fun but do able. I would look into a mounting system that is removable. Trackstech and Berts have great options.
