  1. thanks jim. we found the boats. unfortunately fishing was slow for us, but who can complain about 75 degree calm day in mid-october
  2. who has minnows? Thanks, Jack
  3. way to go boys
  4. Capt. John, the vast majority of fish we marked were in the bottom 10ft of water. relatively few higher under bait. It has been a plug bite for us the last two outings, all with a full crawler off the middle treble off modified Renoskys and stock size 11 deep tail dancers and stock deep thundersticks. speeds on the fast end for these plugs.
  5. dan, i would like to go boom, boom, boom with ya. going to naples grape festival but could be saturday or sunday. are you hunting saturday for sure? i will call to setup a day to drop the dekes off.
  6. i think the cooler temps should help the resident bite around the typical east end structure. schooling fish are/will be moving but we saw and heard of a large number of fish in front and west of barcelona harbor. there is still a lot of bait in that area, but is it was widely scattered due to temp, most was in the top 25 fow.
  7. Well, on the water at 7am headed straight out of harbor found some fish starting in 70 fow - setup trolled out to 120 fow. water temp top to bottom only 2deg diffrence. Worked the area out front all day, decent amount of fish but slow. Picked one on a rainbow Renosky flatlined off an inline board, nice fish just under 10lbs. small perch and a big sheepshead later, that was it... off water at 2pm. tough day. most fish marked were in 70-80 and 90-100 fow slightly west of port. fish are still around.
  8. thanks guys. we are going to give it a go in the am. will report tomorrow night.
  9. Any info appreciated...its a long haul
  10. sounds like the fish that are stocked are doing well. when trolling for salmonyears ago off rochester we caught big walleye off our free sliders.. i remember large suspended schools. i think they roam ontario like they do in erie chasing the food source [ Post made via iPhone ]

  12. thanks guys...was a pretty good day tight thermacline setup. set probe rigger at 80ft 70 deg troll a bit 55 deg deep bait and active fish coming up slaming baits otherwise lots of bait and fish no takers woody: i will always be a salmon guy but may need a refresher course or two back at it in the am..,weather permitting! 14. thanks capt. we found some. lost two BIG fish, one the largest i have personally ever seen. tons of bait scattered yellows. find the pockets of temp from 80-120 fow. blk\slvr deep diveds with 4oz weigbt off the boards took all our fish. [ Post made via iPhone ]

  20. Looking to replace a set of reels and was curious as to how these reels hold up to our salmon fishery. Have considerable experience with Shimano Tekotas (very good experience). Would appreciate a report for anyone using them on LO... Thanks in advance, Jack
  21. 3-0 mustad trebles
  22. are these spooled with line? if so brand, #test...thanks
  23. Thanks Mark, i am a rec fisherman and appreciate the limited amount of time most of us have to pursue our love for fishing, so when successful i try to share ALL the info needed to quickly find and most importantly CATCH fish. A fishing report that says "off windmills with harnesses" is better than no info but not by much practically. Just switched to chamberlain releases (one trip so still tuning them) from rubber bands and i think these are going to be just what the doctor ordered for walleye. can crank the rod tips right to the water with almost no pull required by fish to trigger release. pretty ingenious really. we went 0-fer on the down riggers last time out, but a lot of our fish this year have come off them, the trick - long leads i use blacks releases on LO Will be back out this weekend hopefully ...my boat is docked at SBH...give me a shout on channel 68 if your out or contact bob (rebs) for my number if you want to sync up Jack
