  1. Thanks for the report Rich!! Ill be up next weekend to fish the LOC for the week.. Can't wait!!
  2. Not me. My biggest king ever came in 80' of water. 33 pounds. My wife landed him on a flasher and fly. It does suck to fight the boat traffic but biggest kings of the year are there staging.
  3. where the heck are all the adults??? . Should be way more big boys around by now
  4. Thats good news. All adults Bottom feeder??
  5. let us know how you do. I won't be out till next week
  6. Good west wind the next couple days in the Oswego area. Hopefully this will get a good push of salmon in to us. Time will tell.........fingers crossed!!
  7. Well said!! Exactly what I do every August!! As a matter of fact...it's time!!
  8. Thats how I started too. Watch the reports for the mouth of the salmon river. Once you see guys posting that the fish are in. Head up there and fish first light or in the evening with big glow J-plugs. You will catch fish
  9. On another note....I was at Cabelas yesterday and bought two spray bottles of Herring scent. I wonder how this will work sprayed on a flasher fly rigg?? I sprayed a little to test it and man does it smell fishy. Twice as strong as smelly Jelly.
  10. It depends how deep the fish are. If there in 40' or less I usually run 3 flat line. 1 Down the chute, 2 of the boards. Flat lines are killer that time of the year. Riggers are usually down 15' stretched 100' back. I don't usually run any more than that because you usually have your hands full with that battling hot staging kings.
  11. If you want to try something to get your adrenaline flowing try trolling at night or in the dark early morning for staging kings off of the river mouths. Totally awesome when they hit in the dark. They are way more aggressive and the hits are brutal!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  12. No I usually have it in my pocket. However I have noticed when I talk on the marine radio I loose my speed reading. Good to know though. I will keep my cell phone away from it. My boat is at my mechanics house. He he confident it's a grounding problem and is re doing the ground wire. Moor electronics suggested putting in a grounding plate with a bolt that touches the water through the hull for complete grounding. Hopefully that will take care of it!! 13. Glow spinnies and glow attomik flies have worked best for me on early morning and late evening. Also Mag glow spoons work well at times. I'm going to try meat this year. Not sure how well it works on staging kings???
  14. W.W.IV, Same with me. Trolling the lakes for over 20 years and never tried meat until this year. I have only taken two smaller kings on it so far. Back up in 3 weeks to fish the LOC for a week. My question is, is it better to run with or with out twinkles?? So far I have only taken the 2 kings on clean rigs.
  15. I'm starting to think its time to buy a fish hawk. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  16. Thanks for the info! all the wire is good on the rigger and I just replaced both the antenna and wire to the head unit this spring. I just ordered your subwoofer cable. hopefully that is where my problem is also. How does the wet rag trick work??
  17. Has anyone had issues with their sub troll only reading to certain depths. This past trip my sub troll would only read down to 80'. The worst part is I had both of my probes and head unit sent in over the winter to re calibrate them and check them. They checked out fine. When I ask Moor electronics about this they tell me it is a grounding issue and that I need a grounding plate in my aluminum boat. WTF. I have had the sub troll on this boat for 10 years and this is the 2nd time this has happened to me, it started last summer with only reading down to 100' I need to get this figured out soon, because I return to fish the fall LOC in 3 weeks. Thanks for any input!!!
  18. Fishing can be fantastic the first two weeks of September around the river mouths. Trolling glow J plugs and mag spoons usually work best but Flasher fly combos also work well. I have trolled a lot in front of the salmon river in early September and it can be awesome fishing. However the down side is the combat trolling situation. Hundred of other boats are doing the same thing.
  19. Yesterday afternoon I marked a couple bigger fish east of the chute in 150 feet down 100. They zoomed in and out of my riggers but would not hit. We trolled all the way to Rudys in Oswego. Try out that way. I hope this years salmon run isn't a repeat of last year. There should be more targets out there now. Marked very few targets over the last two weeks. Will be back to fish the last week of August out of Oz. Hopefully the mother load has shown up by then. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  20. Took a big skunk this afternoon. Started way west and trolled all the way to moon beach covered from 300 foot into 125. Only naked 3 fish all afternoon. Where did they go???? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  21. Number 2 settings for me. I took hits from 270 out to 325 out. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. What were your dipsy settings.?? All my dipsy hits have been on a number 2 setting at 320. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. Ok. My crew wants to sleep in tomorrow morning till 7. So we won't be out trolling till 8. I usually listen to Chanel 6. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  24. You guys should hit it just right. The mother load is just starting to show. I'm leaving Monday but back for the last week of August to fish the LOC for a week Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
