Spin Doctor versus Pro troll E chip Just curious guys. I have always had better luck trolling Spin Doctors with Atommik flies for kings. I have caught very few on the pro troll E chips. Does anyone else have the same luck or am I doing something wrong with the E chips?? I try to notice what the charter boats are using but it seems to be a about a 50/50 split on what they are using. Just curious what everyone else does.

Finger lakes tackle. who is owed money.
steelfire replied to machzrcr's topic in Open Lake Discussion
I agree with Gator. I have bought many spoons from him and they are by far the best quality spoons I have in my arsenal. Always got my order with a few weeks. King of sting is still the best spoon for late August and Early September for staging kings. I came across a few post quite a few months ago on face book that he had suffered some kind of medical emergency and was in the Hospital. Not sure if thats what is also adding to the issues. its to bad it has come to this and he has taken money from so many -
Brass stingers Just curious if anyone on here uses or has had good luck using the brass stinger spoons??. I came across some at a fishing show and they were really cheap so I bought them. They are all of the current popular colors just done on hammered brass.

I have had all the same problems as sid. I probably spent another $600 on spare parts and probes for that pos sub troll I had. Lat spring I finally had enough and tossed it in the dumpster and bought a Fish Hawk. Best thing I ever did. It works totally awesome and without a doubt helped me catch more fish. Its simple to use and way less parts to break of fail than the sub troll. Do yourself a favor and buy a Fish Hawk.

A question for Brown Trout Specialist
steelfire replied to youp50's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Thanks for the info! I was fishing mid July this summer in about 80' of water and the browns were on the bottom. I couldn't buy a bite unless I had the spoons at least 50' behind the ball. (I was running 12 pound fluro leader). When I stretched them back about 80' the bite was more consistent. I was just wondering what everyone else does in the summer when fishing for Browns with set backs off of the riggers. I also had good luck with running dipsies off of the bottom for them as well. -

How far behind the ball do you run your spoons for Browns in the summer?? I was running them about 40' this summer and had marginal luck with them -
I also have the full Captains package for my boat. Great company, great service and great products. I had a couple rocket launcher handles crack 5 years after purchasing the captains package and they sent me replacements and a couple extra just in case any other ones crack for free!! Can't say enough good about them!!

I do the same. Even works with mid summer time surface temps. Just don't leave them swimming in the 70 degree water to long.

Fair Haven 8/3

Bout Time I was up the last two weeks of July. I took 4 kings in 90' of water. Biggest was 26 pounds. Don't be fooled, those are kings on the bottom. If you find bait at a certain depth and its close to being in temp, the kings will be there. Those depths were also loaded with browns! -

The full moon could be messing up the bite. Will be back at it in the morning. Hopefully they are hungry. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -
Tough day fishing. Only 1 steal head. Tried trolling east to moon beach. Not much happening that way. Marked very few bait or fish. Will go west tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Fishing is ok. Not the mother load but enough fish around to keep you on your toes. Best depth has been 215 to 300 west of port. Thermocline as of Sunday was at 95'. Riggers at 100 and 125 have been the most active. White green dot spiny with green hammer uv and glow big fin have been working good. All year class salmon are here along with steelhead. I have found anywhere from 2.1 to 2.5 down speed. I have never caught anything tolling faster.
