No worries cprost. its all good! Try running 20 pound leader for kings. I even go down to 15 pound for my free sliders. If I'm targeting summer browns I drop down to 12 pound leader

I have always run straight 30 to the flasher and flies but I can't help but wonder if using fluro would make any difference or not. I'm probably over thinking it anyways. LOL cprost, the heavier the line the less action you get from your spoons. Plus with fluro, the line is a lot less visible and you get a stealthier approach with your spoons.

I'm sitting hear spooling up with 30 lb big game for the fleas and am looking at all of my different size fluro leaders that I have on the boat. I run straight 30 lb big game to my flasher and flies on the riggers. Does anybody else do this or are you using a fluro leader from the main line down to the flasher and fly?

Good to know Gator, thanks. I have friends looking for parts Ill let them know. I had mine for 12 years and it worked great until the last couple years. Then all kind of issues. I gotta say though.........the fish hawk is pretty cool. Way more user friendly

try putting a wet rag over where the antenna and cable meet on the boom. That use to work for me when it wasn't reading correctly. I finally got fed up after last season with all the issues with the coated cable and antenna and connections I bought a fish hawk. Glad I did because now sub troll is out of business and you can't fins spare parts easily.

I have tangled rigger lines and copper lines off of my boards. Maybe the key is to let them out waaaay slower than the number 1's and take slower turns. I have never had any issues with the #1 dipsies. Thanks for the input guys!

I hate to ask this question and sound dumb but, is there a trick to running the magnum divers?? I do great with the Number 1 divers and catch plenty of fish but I have tried multiple times with the magnums when the fish go really deep and all I end up with is nothing but big tangles. I always run them on a number 2 setting. Very frustrating. Just wondering if there is a trick to them????

Theft

I also had tackle stolen a few years ago also. I estimated it around $3500. But it was a lot of tackle that can't be replaced anymore. Not sure what you have for insurance, but my boat insurance ended up paying for 90% of its monetary value after I talked with them and gave them a police report of the incident. I did not have personal item theft in my original coverage but since I have had their boat insurance for over 15 years and never had an incident they choose to cover my loss, which was awesome. I now have EVERYTHING covered, including my 4 riggers and 3 sonar units. -

Rich is correct. We had travel way west of Oswego to find the color water. It was stacked up in some of the coves behind the big points. And it was only coming out off of the shore maybe 10 to 20 yards, but loaded with fish. We would run our planner boards right thru it. Stingers with Chartreuse on them did most of the damage. We had a few on small sticks also in chartreuse. The stingers had a small spit shot about 10 feet up the line to get them down a little bit. We also did well with the NBK stingers. Thank you dvdegeorge for fixing my pics!!. Rich D and On the lam, I'm not taking offense to your comments "all you need is good equipment" because I'm sure thats not how you meant it ..... And I'm not the type of guy to get butt hurt....HOWEVER.... I do have good equipment, I have all Penn reels and very good(and expensive) rods. I tie very good knots. These were very large kings that took out over 300 feet of line in the first two minutes of battle and jumped multiple times in 4 feet of water. They must have inhaled the small spoon because the line was chaffed 6 inches up from the break from their sharp teeth, hence the "I didn't stand a chance to land them" comment I made. A charter boat fishing in the same area I was in bumped into the same group of kings we did and they got beat bad also, however they did land a couple today. -

Late report arrived in Oz on Tuesday and fished until Friday. Had a great trip. Wednesday and Thursday were the best with over 40 browns boated. Water is crystal clear. If you can find the Green stained water stay with because its loaded. We ended up fishing mostly west of Oz all the way down to Fairhaven to find pockets of the green water near shore. Biggest Browns were two that just went over 12 pounds. We also tangled with 2 Kings but did not stand a chance with 10 pound Fluro leader on. Fish were caught in 10 feet of water or less. Mostly off of boards run right up along the shore. Weighted stinger spoons were the best with only a couple coming on sticks.

Does anyone know of any house or fishing camps for rent in the Oswego to Port Ontario area?? We have rented the same house for the last 15 years on the salmon river in port ontario but the owner has put it up for sale. Looking for a something that is clean and can sleep 6 guys (we have two boats). Nothing fancy, just clean and non smoking. Looking for the August to early September time frame.

Fish Hawk question
steelfire replied to steelfire's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Thanks for all the great info guys!! -
So after reading up before I purchase a new Fish Hawk to replace my sub troll, I read that sonar units running the 50/200khz transducer may cause interference (mostly the 50khz) with the Fish Hawk. I run a lowrance LCX112C and use my 50khz for deep water salmon trolling. Has anybody had any interference issues from their sonar with the Fish Hawk???
