Unfortunately I don't have many pictures of the interior of my boat. However I do have a couple pictures of some homemade jump seats/storage space my wife made. Yes I said my wife, she is one of those DIY divas you see on TV building houses. The only complaint I have on my 2006 Islander is the lack of rear facing seats and storage compartments. These jump seats took care of that problem. I can fit 4 large plastic tackle bins in each jump seat. They also work well as a step to get in and out of the deep hull.

Looks like I will be buying a fish Hawke x4 also since my sub troll was having issues last fall. For the guys that have them, have they lasted a while with out problems? Seems like every other year I was having problems with my sub troll.

You made the right choice to go after Tuna. We did great the two weeks we were up out of Fairhaven in July. I fished a week straight the last week of August out in front of Oswego and it SUCKED!! I think we landed 6 fish all week. The Charter fleet was struggling as well. What auto pilot did you buy to hook up with your Lawrence?? How much was it?. I have been looking for an auto pilot.

You are correct that I can only see my down rigger weights when I am running the 50 kHz transducer. the 200 is for shallow water. I usually only run the 50khz transducer when trolling for salmon. I have been reading up on the chirp technology and I think for right now, I'm getting the same sonar returns as I would with a newer HD unit. I see the fish and I even catch some of them so why change whats been working for me. thanks again for the info guys.

Looking for a little advice. I currently have a Lowrance lcx112 80/200 transducer. It works great. I can watch all 4 of my down rigger weights on the screen and see fish shoot up thru them while trolling. My question is, does anyone run the newer Lowrance units, like the HDS Gen3?? Are you able to track your down rigger weights down deep during summer salmon season? I'm trying to decide if its worth updating to the newer HDS units or not. I know the newer lake maps are suppose to be spectacular on the newer HDS units . Any info is greatly appreciated!!

I agree with you. And throw in the fact that when the adult fishing gets tough, everybody heads out deep to the "hatchery" and catch the two year olds. I think it puts a big strain on the next years adults. Thats What I think happened last year. There were Very few adults around but everybody was raving about the good amount of two year olds out deep. I have good friends out of the charter fleet in OZ. Two year olds made up 70% of their catch this year! They have to catch fish or the clients don't come back. Its a tough situation. Gotta go where the fish are.

My final trolling report for the year. Fished Salmon River to the Nuke plant for the last 7 days straight. We hooked a couple fish each day. Depth of best fish activity for us was from 110 ' to as deep as 130'. UV glow green flies and glow green and green dot spinnies worked best. In the sun, Mtn dew spinny with Hammer lime live worked well. Biggest king was 26.4. Had a couple females who eggs were not loose but ready to go soon. Also King of sting spoon trolled 5 feet off the bottom worked well. For the bad news. I have been fishing this same week for 12 years straight.And the number of fish we saw on the sonar is just plain sad. We averaged seeing 5 fish a day on the sonar. This is the time of year when the mother load shows up between Oswego and the Salmon river mouth. Years past we would mark Squadrons of salmon all over the place. As soon as you went thru them multiple rods would fire. The last two years it was just one fish here and there. Every body at the cleaning station all seemed to have just one or two fish each. All the charter boat captains we talked to are struggling to put a few fish in the boat every day. They all say its the worst season they have ever seen. If it wasn't for all the two year olds out in the blue water it would have been a bust this season . We have a dock at the house we rent in the estuary of the salmon river. Every year at this time regardless of water temp, there are always a bunch of kings sniffing around the RT 3 bridge and lower estuary. We saw none!!. We did however see 4 kings in the raceway at the hatchery in Altmar. One other notable observation we had was every fish we caught, had Lampreys on it. And all of the lampreys were HUGE. Usually we see 1 or 2 a week but this was on EVERY fish we caught. Same with a bunch of other fishermen we talked to. I hate to be all doom and gloom but something is VERY wrong with the King fishery right now. Most of the local Charter boat captains think the Hatchery is not stocking the number of fish they claim to be. I hope it turns around for next year. I love everything about this fishery and I hate seeing it struggle. I'm no fish expert but..... two years in a row of bad returns is a sign. I'm not sure of what........but I hope somebody starts looking into it. Just my two cents.

1 for 2 this morning. Only marked 4 fish in 7 hours of trolling. Our 1 King in 111 feet, 19 pounder. King of sting spoon. We dropped another fish on 120 feet on flasher and fly. Very slow, not many hooking up around us. Saw one fish landed on another boat. I hope there are more fish waiting to come in. Checked the river in the estuary and town pool. Nothing. 2 days of fishing out of Port Ontario. Fishing is SLOW for this time of year. We did land a 26.4 pound King last evening But only 2 others in the high teens. Not marking many fish. A few here and there. Looks like a repeat of last year. We're here till Friday. Maybe the mother load will show.

I have a side by side chart comparing the 19.5 to the 221 Islander but the damn uploader on this site says I'm not permitted to upload the whole file?? All I could get it to post was the 221's specs above. Sorry. Anyways, I took both for a test ride before I bought my 19.5 islander and the y are both almost identical except for the fuel tank is bigger on the 221 and about a foot more deck space and about 6" more cuddy space. They wanted $8000 more at the time for the 221 over the 19.5. not worth it in my eyes. My 19.5 is awesome and I will never buy another boat for Lake Ontario!
