HAd my uncle and father's friend out with us for the morning. Haven't fished out of thre river all summer and wasn't sure where to start. Saw, from temperature charts on internet the night before, that there was some cold water in tight so we decided to sniff the mouth early on before heading out. Hooked first fish right out of the chute while setting lines in 28' fow. 21 lb. king. That prompted us to work the inside waters for a while. Next rod fired at about the same depth a pass or two later and was a chunky little brown. Reset and a pass or two later, a j-plug/dipsey combo starts screaming, a 22 lber. Missed two other fish that just came unbuttoned. The sun got higher and the bite died. Ended up 3 for 5 for the morning. Saw only a couple other boats working in close which was surprising because we marked a decent amount of fish in front. Nothing stacked, but nice pods of 2-3 hooks hanging together here and there. Enough to keep us interested. We attempted to move out as the bite slowed, but stopped marking fish outside of 40-45'.
