  1. Contemplating a new fishfinder for lake trout jigging, have been using a Lowrance X85 for many years, which has served fine but has some limitations. Looking at 7" models - anyone using a Humminbird Helix 7 or Lowrance Elite 7-Ti for jigging purposes? Mainly looking for clear jig tracking and picking up fish on the bottom easily - love to play that cat and mouse game on the screen! Thanks, Mike
  2. Sarge5150 - Give 'em a call, they ship! http://www.visitfingerlakes.com/listings/the-sutton-company/665/ or facebook page
  3. Also (finally) visited the Sutton Co. store for the first time this past weekend with my son, we took the "scenic route" home to PA from Rochester through Naples, interesting shop. I only jig now, but purchased a few extra 44's for old time's sake...
  4. Holler anytime! I'm out most weekend mornings through the summer picking on lakers with jigs. I'll send a pm...
  5. Nice looking laker! (unclipped, wild fish?) I'm just down the road from you on Fire Lane 6 - neighbors have been having fun with them recently off their docks too.
  6. Beautiful fish, congrats! Not sure if Ray Grandner in Pine Valley, NY is still in business, but very nice work -- www.catchandreleasefishreproductions.com

  12. Congrats also Mike & Tom, any size they're all beauties. Cayuga's a real treasure - we've been jigging up some nice fish lately, two of my kids each caught some that would have easily knocked me off the board, except they reeled them up Friday and Sunday! Jig bite bordered steady to nuts all a.m., mostly 4 - 6lb fish on avg. A couple of my (jigging) neighbors reported the same. Really enjoyed the fact that it was a one-day event. Many thanks to Bear once again and all involved for their time and effort. Barney was a good friend and unique character as most of us know - I'm sure he was smiling down on all with that perpetual grin!
  13. Congrats! (Making some wall space now?
  14. Beautiful brown, congrats! Can't recommend a trip out with John highly enough, it's an eye-opener!
  15. Beautiful and fun Friday on Keuka, annual fall trip with my son - steady morning bite, reeled up many 18" - 22" healthy-looking lakers, all on retrieve using glow/chart.-tailed shakers, 3/4oz white jigheads, 80 - 100', fished near state park, all released. Marked very little bait. (Hoped to stop for lunch at Seneca Farms on the way home, but found they are closed for the season, bummer.) double trouble... Left our big dog home and took our little guy with us instead, very unimpressed with the fish... deeeeep concentration...
  16. Fun time, neat video! (That first fish (photo) is a of a great white I think!) Thanks Alec!
  17. Thanks Alec!
  18. Hoping to find the bait shop at Myers open later tonight and not sure of their hours...thanks in advance - appreciated!
  19. LOL Chowder! Good luck out there!
  20. ...yes, may seem weird, but when they're bunched up shallow in the spring (for the short time they are), game on... Good luck fella's, going to be a great summer!
  21. ...does seem odd fishing that shallow, have tried it with good results the last couple of years -- once the sun peeks over the hill though it gets quiet in a hurry.
  22. Hope you're doing well also Alec, it's been a busy spring so far with no end in sight!
  23. Broke in some winter jigging rod builds last weekend (King Ferry) - steady bite 5:30 - 7:30am, 25 fow avg. 1/2oz jig w/ usual green/white plastics. 0 lampreys, sawbellies are in thick.
